Looking for a good programmer

Hello guys,

I'm looking for a good programmer, does anyone recommend me some?

My requirements:
- must be very good (cheap even better)
- must have knowledge of PHP, MySQL, AJAX, Webdesign, etc...
- must have good reputation
- must work fast
- must have icq or skype and be online in work days
- must accept paxum as payment method or an account on freelancer.com so I can pay

Anyone?
I have 3 pendent projects...

Thanks,
Tim

If he don't say anything, I'm going to try talk with paxum support.

You have some control over that...
You are the employer, not the employee....
If they want paid up front, then tell him to go work for tips....

then again, scamming does go both ways....

I have had coders beg me for money half way through projects
some stuff like: "my baby is sick, and i need bill money" I kindly
told him his personal & finance problems are not my concern....
I do not know any employers that advance money, even if your
baby is sick and you need money for bills. If coders are that desperate
for a quick payday, then I think they are in the wrong line of work.

If you need a quick payday, then get a payday loan to hold you over....
then again, if you have to get a payday loan, then you are either spending
to much money, you are not getting enough coding jobs, or you cant
keep up with the demands of pumping out quality coding work....

I have also had coders decline work because I would not pay them
up front. You know what my reply is: ty for your time, have a nice day....

If you're going to hire new people on gfy with only 8 posts you are just looking to get ripped off. Find someone with a reputation or look elsewhere from a place with accountability.

Like i told you already the last time and also my programmer: you want a full Script which takes for example 100hrs coding, but you dont want to pay for example 1000usd for it. You want it really cheap and only pay for example only 50dollars for it.

Conclusio: no real programmer would do that Job. Only people with 5 postings will say they Can do that, take your money ans scam you.

But Its your decision. If you are paying Too lese for something, in Most cases toi pay so two, Three, four... TImes for it.

redbusiness, my mistake was not doing this on freelancer.com, I already worked with great guys there, and they have milestones and the money was safe there. Anyway, was only 25% of the project, I paid him $30 upfront. Is not too much money, but I dont like (anyone likes it right?) to be SCAMMED!

BCyber, thank you for your feedback buddy.

Btw, if anyone wants to avoid this scammer:

best advice so far.
Also asking them for portofolio/website may *reduce* a bit the scam probability.

I am sorry about your 'case' Enigma1.
I think that most scams starts with price and offer details that are TOO GOOD TO BE A TRUTH...

My personal experiences as BUYER are something like this: if someone ask 50% it is OK, I know also the developer side, he won't spend, like somebody already said, 100 hours making working example that you are willing to pay $50, so best way is:
- reference
- talk with people who are in those references (people worked with developer/designer) before
- your personal impression in taling about job how much he/she is motivated (if developer asks many questions then probably think to really finish your job, if he/she 'understand' everything and have no question just waiting for payment before start then probably something is not ok)
- etc

On the other side, as SELLER, I had many times situation like this: someone want something to be done, I ask a lot of questions before making offer, and even more before closing a deal, and my price is for example $3.000

Guy (buyer) telling me after few weeks and 10 mails to each other, that he likes my reference and my approach to accomplish [SOME TASK] but my price is too high and my deadline is too long. Ok thanks, feel free to drop offer request for any task anytime. Then after few weeks we are going again: "XYZ gus scammed me for $1.000 no response from him for 2 weeks, blah blah..., I am ready to work with you now, but I will not pay nothing in advance..." Sure (I mean "suuure in some other life", ...)

Point is that all of us as buyers or sellers can be scammed, but we can act on that way to decrease chance for that to happens to us to smallest posible

sarettah, glad to hear that I make you laugh

mamaliga, I asked for his portfolio like I always do, here is part of the conversation:

Quote:
ME: Can I see your portfolio and last works?
Are you a good designer or work with a good designer too?

SCAMMER: This is my latest work http://beta.tumbswap.com/ http://tumbswap.com/ it's a traffic trading system like plugrush.com and plugerr.com

SCAMMER: http://beta.tumbswap.com/admin/login.php
user test123 pass test123
but project owner left with no money few weeks ago and we pause project so i have time to complete your project if you asign to me

SCAMMER: I done somethin similar for this guy http://www.film-club.net/ but i only scrape Serbian and Croation descriptions and titles.

SCAMMER: If you want full custom script for cinema it wil take time, we are only 2 in programer team

ME: I dont want a custom for cinema because website is completed already. just need little fixes.

SCAMMER: ah... I think you want custom, sorry

SCAMMER: Ok i check that script ( normal version not modified like yours) I can do changes for you

ME: do you have a freelancer.com account?

SCAMMER: I have freelancer account but i prefer to go paxum or even beter paypal.
Lets do it a paxum milestone

SCAMMER: http://www.freelancer.com/u/revupads.html

ME: how can wee do a milestone on paxum? I dont think that they have this option...
Milestone is very important because we don't know each other

SCAMMER: Lets use Paypal

ME: I don't have paypal
isn't more safer on freelancer since we both have accont there?

SCAMMER: Paxum then. Just transfer me $60 on paxum, i replay on your thread that you get me job and that is that, after i complete we bump thread and everything is good!

SCAMMER: yes we can but freelancer take like $20

ME: Ok Im going to trust you ok?
You kow that is more risky for me than for you lol

ME: but %50 is too much, how about %25 to start?
And after some tasks done, I will transfer other %25

---------

ME: Whats your name? My name is XXX

SCAMMER: Zivko Popic
amateurWebmaster, thank you for your feedback buddy, and I am very sorry for your $1.000 :/ And I agree with you, a scammer can be a BUYER or a SELLER.

You didn't make me laugh. Like I said, sorry if you got ripped off. It is never good to be scammed and there is never anything that can justify it imho.

However, with that said, the thread as a whole is hilarious.
