LOL. True History...
PM Abe of Japan said today the US should be prepared as he expects Putin to unveil some pretty nasty responses if things go south with Barry and the boys. What pray tell can that mean? |

Umm
US Canada Mexico as well as most other South American countries.. There are lots of countries that produce oil, pretending it's rare allows the prices to stay high.. They took that lesson from the De Beers. |

Re-read the OP. Imagine what would happen to the EU if Putin shifted sales say, to Asia. |

Yes Russia could harm the EU on short term with price gouging but in the long run Russia loses. |

China, Russia's next door neighbor is an extremely willing customer. Russians are known for their punitive nature. Correct?
Lets see what unfolds. Putin has no love for the EU that's certain. |

EU gets a third of its energy from Russia and no country on earth could survive a one-third cut in energy. EU needs Russian oil but Russia no longer needs Europe as a customer. Russia finished the final stage of the East Siberia-Pacific Ocean pipeline in 2013 -> http://oilprice.com/Energy/Crude-Oil...-Supplies.html |

China and everyone else buys what they need... why would China or anyone else suddenly start buying more?
It's like a webshost losing a big webmaster and now has 1000 servers available... are you going to buy those servers? of course not... maybe if the webhost would offer you a great deal on them you would pick an extra one up... but other than that it's webhost's problem that they have extra inventory... no?

(~2/3rds of Russia's economy is based on exporting energy to the West)

It is impossible to replace at least not in the near future.
I think it is easier to replace machinery and goods. But anyway, these things will never happen. No one (maybe except Polaks and Baltic states) supports sanctions against Russia. |
