Negative actions by Russia harm Russia as much or more than anyone else. That is the power of globalization..

EU gets a third of its energy from Russia and no country on earth could survive a one-third cut in energy. EU needs Russian oil but Russia no longer needs Europe as a customer.

Russia finished the final stage of the East Siberia-Pacific Ocean pipeline in 2013 ->

I think it's way easier to replace 1/3rd of energy (West), then 2/3rds of one's economy (Russia)...

(~2/3rds of Russia's economy is based on exporting energy to the West)
