WALDO, Fla. -- The City Council of a tiny north Florida town known as one of the nation's worst speed traps has voted to disband its small police force.

The Waldo City Council on Tuesday voted 4-1 to eliminate the department just weeks after the chief and interim chief resigned because of state investigations into many issues, including an illegal ticket quota.

I think I read about this town before, about six months ago. Small town, nothing going on, pimp police force with new cars, that sort of thing.

On the other hand.... Driving through Nevada on my way to Vegas I saw similar towns. Only three or four during the long stretch, but their speed limits were down to 25 mph. However, the police tended to hang out just inside city limits in a very visible way.
