Wanted: DIY lighting for shower
I just moved into a new place and the shower area literally has no lighting, not even kidding. I have complained to management and they are sending the maintenance supervisor to see if they can put in a can light, but I'm not hopeful. What other options do I have that will not look ridiculously cheesy? I have seen the LED lights that wrap around the shower head, really don't want something like that. I was thinking those pushbutton LED lights, but I don't know if they are waterproof.
Any other ideas? Can't involve any electrical work, that would never fly.

Sounds dangerous. Make sure anything you plug in is on a gfi protected circuit.

And yes the whole thing does seem dangerous, which is why I complained about it and will be documenting it further. I don't know construction code, but this seems like something that should be covered.

I don't know about this. Usually that sort of GFY lightings are not the best idea.
Why you need some lighting in the shower area in the first place? There is some light in the bathroom, right? Light usually doesn't stop like to a "wall", unless there is a wall. Can't you see to jerk off in the shower or what? |

They make shower heads with LEDs in them, I believe. It'd probably be a cool effect in an otherwise dim room, but it may make you blue, red, or green ... hard to tell where the dirt is at that point.

You might be able to replace the bathroom fan with one with a built in light. Should be an easy job to install. Although you may need to modify the wiring in the fan so that the fan and light come on with the same switch as they normally are made to hook up to two wall switches.
