Found this because saw her stuff again and wanted to look over some of her career work, got a huffington post article about her, alarmed the hell out of me. I almost didn't beat off to her old pictures as a result... almost...

You may recognize her from SilverStone video and a few other things she did.

Photographer Lee Jeffries has devoted much of his time to capturing the overlooked faces of homeless individuals across the globe. Trekking from London to Paris to Rome to New York, the UK-based artist has made it his personal mission -- he's actually a full-time accountant by trade -- to attach a human face to the epidemics of poverty and addiction.

Far from voyeurism, Jeffries is part documentarian, part activist; a man who seeks out the untold narratives behind homelessness, delving well beyond imagery. Case in point: his recent trip to Miami, FL where he met Margo Stevens, a former adult film star now living on the streets of the dangerous Overtown neighborhood. Jeffries spent nearly two weeks there getting to know the enchanting and tragic woman whose "riches to rags" saga hit the photographer particularly hard.

"I found her story quite stark," Jeffries explained in an interview with The Huffington Post. "She was a well-known porn star in the 1990s who escorted for a living. She's beautiful and obviously lived the life, had whatever she wanted... but her fall to what she has become today really hit me hard." According to Jeffries, Stevens now sleeps in an abandoned 12-foot by six-foot garage with four to five other homeless women she looks after on a daily basis, most of whom are addicted to heroin, living off the money they make as sex workers.

Stevens' circumstances may be familiar at first glance -- as a young woman she worked in a strip club in Cleveland, eventually transitioning to the adult film industry and escort services. She made money for several years, and when her luck in the industry ran out, she moved to Miami, slipping into a pattern of homelessness, drug use and prostitution. But her connection with Jeffries reveals the touching humanity of her unique experience. As the photographer's stunning images reveal, the labels "prostitute" and "user" only skim the surface of her being. She is a mother-figure to those around her, a protector and respected friend in the neighborhood, who, like other addicts lacking the money or community support to alter their lifestyles, uses sex work as a means to an end -- freedom and survival.

Many that enter the industry as talent are damaged goods. Certainly not all, but I am sure the percentage is staggeringly high.

As for hard core drug use, who can walk away from that unscathed? Alcohol abuse is even more prevalent and can be just as damaging.

So do you think that the govt. should be able to tell grown adult people that they can't get paid to fuck? Or that they can't get high when they want to have a good time?

If you think about it for a minute...if prostitution were perfectly legal she wouldn't have had to worry about going to jail and wouldn't have gotten mixed up with a criminal crowd to make money.

If getting high were legal (well...it is now for millions of people addicted to prescription drugs), then maybe she wouldn't have gotten involved with street criminals pushing the harder (and cheaper) drugs.

I do think that it's her own fault. Individuals need to figure out how to succeed with the situation that we have in this country.

But I don't think it's right that the govt. can decide what we can and can't do (not talking about killing and stealing...just talking about personal decisions). It turns people into "criminals" when they haven't done anything wrong.

Why would there be less drug use just because sex work would be legal? That doesn't make any sense, an addict is going to do drugs regardless and I'm saying that as an ex-heroin addict.

It's the over-photoshop itself that is shit - that is the photoshop happy editor. Those pics would be so much better if the faces just looked clear - they look like paintings now - lost all cred as a photos.

If you reread the thread, I was googling her because I liked her, huffingtonpost pops to the top. Found it alarming so I thought I'd share. Like anything this subject will polarize people.
