Question about hardlinks/backlinks

When buying and selling hard links or back links what does pr 1, pr 2 pr 3 and so on mean. I have been out of the game for a long time... time to catch up.

It's Google PageRank but it really doesn't mean anything. It used to be the main factor Google used to rank sites but it was so easy to manipulate they barely factor it in at all now. It basically reflects the raw amount of links flowing to any given page, but doesn't reflect any of the metrics that actually affect the quality of the links now.

Even though it hasn't been relevant in 5-7 years, people still use it as some indicator that a link may be good, but this has become less and less effective over time since people will just inflate their PR for the sake of either selling or trading links.

The best real measure you can use is how a site ranks for its target keywords. A site that ranks is obviously strong. Another option is using authority ratings from http://www.majesticseo.com, which aim to be a single number like PageRank but reflects the metrics that actually matter.

PageRank is only useful when you want to market the "SEO value" of your site to other people if you're doing something like selling links. Only because people still think it's a valuable metric. And for that purpose, it's great.

But if you're actually looking to gain authority with search engines, then DannyA has the cogent advice: get links on pages that rank high for the keywords you care about. If a page fits that qualification, then you can see why it doesn't matter that it's PR0.

Page PR is highly over rated and falsely valued by webmasters.

A page giving you a link that is PR3 but has 200 outgoing links on it will not let much if any juice flow your way, however if that same page only has 2 or 3 outgoing links on it then you will get valuable juice as long as it's not a fake PR page.

Page rank is easy as pie to fake, Buyer Beware!
