Detroit vs Anaheim -- 3-2 in tonight's game. Redwings put on a veritable CLINIC in overtime, playing at even strength like they had a man advantage. That should be made into a training video of how to do it in the playoffs and sent to every other team out there. Anyone saying they're done or over the hill, out to pasture etc, just isn't paying attention.
Series is now tied 2-2.

Toronto vs Boston -- Bruins 5, Leafs 2. TO tried to rally in the 3rd but it wasn't nearly enough. Grapes is right (as usual), Toronto doesn't cover the points enough against the Bruins who love to feed the point and fire the bombs.
Boston takes a 2-1 series lead.

Washington vs New York -- Rangers 4, Caps 3. This may have been the most intense final two minutes of any game so far in these playoffs, in any series. The Capitals have never led a series 3-0, something they were dying to do but NY takes this one.
Washington leads series 2-1.

St Louis vs Los Angeles -- LA wins 4-3 over the Blues. St Louis jumped to a 2 goal lead early on which woke the Kings up, and it was game on from then on. This series is starting to heat up, not quite like the Sens-Habs but they have the most hits in this series of any other so far, by far in fact.
Series now tied 2-2.

Of those, and I have to say I never thought I'd be saying this, but of those I have to say I am most looking forward to seeing the Mtl-Ottawa game.

If you're right about that last one the question then becomes; Who do you think the Sedin sisters will be playing for next year? :D

The sisters will stay with the Canucks. It's their last contract year. If something happen, it's gonna be at the trade deadline next year.

Montreal at Ottawa tonight!!!!

After the debacle on Sunday, this should be the game to watch for everyone. If you are a fan of guys who play with passion, guys who loose their cool because they just want to win, two teams with little hope of getting to the finals doing everything they can to continue, this game has it all.

If the Habs can cool themselves off and play hockey instead of MMA, they are done. If they can pull it together and get back to speed and precision, the series will go to 7 games and end close.

Personally i think it is over for Les Canadiens, I believe there is no coming back from the amount of loosing their cool they went through on Sunday.

BTW, did I mention that Brendan Shannahan needs to loose his job? He has already lost his mind, job should go next. (loved him as a player though).

play by play:

1st period) Karlsson scores from the point. 1 - 0

2nd period) Subban looses his cool and bites Milan Michalek's ear off, Blames Prust for it, they fight on the bench. still 1 - 0

3rd period) things get ugly, some kid from Ottawa who has only played 6 games in the NHL will get a Hat Trick, Habs won't pull Price, with 1 minute left Alfredsson will score from a bad angle, Price will take off his helmet and give a booooooing crowd the finger and skate off! final score 5 - 1

Scenario 2, everyone calms down and they go to OT tied 0-0

GO SENS GO!

Nah, they come in pairs. Who knows, maybe a team that would need some extra points to make de playoff will take them at the next trade deadline for the rest of the season. Then they become Free agents... If things stay the same, they're not gonna get 6m per year tho

I'd def like to see the Leafs doing better. The hocky Gods just don't like them much, though.

St. Louis Blues are dangerous. Better team than I thought they would be this year.

Tonight was just horrible. Game should have been 4 - O Pens, not 6 - 4 Islanders. Pretty much every goal Fleury let in was a shot he would have saved with his eyes closed when he is on his game.

The one goal that went in off his defenseman's skate you can accept. That is one of those weird things that happen in hockey, but most of the goals were shots that should have been saved. At one point he tripped over his own feet.

Nabokov wasn't very good either, but he did make a couple big saves down the end.

I'm not sure if Fleury is hurt, or just doesn't care, or has some other issues, but he clearly is not on his game.

Seen him make saves that went off three skates and a post and make it look so easy like he was actually existing four seconds in the future and knew what would happen before it appeared to happen. He is really off and it is a shame because with him on the Pens would be unstoppable.

Other teams are not losing due to bad goaltending, but more so due to lack of scoring or defensive breakdowns that are not goaltender issues at all. The Pens lost those two mostly due to goaltending imo.

If Fleury was even somewhat close to as good as he can be the series would likely be 4-0 or 3-1 Pens. I still think they will win this series, bu I don't know how far they can go if he doesn't get right.

No distinct kicking motion. He was in the process of stopping. Both of his feet are angled the same way and moving in the same direction.

It was a lucky goal, plain and simple. Maybe just the hockey gods spreading the luck around a bit after Montreal got away with 3 suspendable offences in the previous game.

So for the second year in a row the Canucks are out in the 1st round. And a sweep, making them the first team this year to be eliminated. But they'll have company soon enough, the Habs could be out soon, as will a few other teams over the next few days.

Islanders seem to be taking the Pens by surprise more and more every game. I don't see it being all on Fleury. Even when he's at his best a goalie is only as good as the players in front of him. Don't want the 'lowly inferior Islanders' to score? Then try not letting them get close enough to shoot. Try keeping the puck down in their end and getting pucks to their net and INTO their net. Doing those things helps prevent the kinds of 'soft goals' everyone is griping about.

Getting back to the Habs, what's this I hear a little girl from Quebec who is a Sens fan was sent home from school for wearing a Senators jersey. Is that right? And one of the Senators or someone in the organization heard about it and sent her and her family tickets to the game?

Something is very wrong in a certain part of Canada if kids are being sent home for wearing the "wrong" team's jersey to school.

Not just someone. It was Eugene Melnyk himself. He sent a limo to Montreal to pick the whole family up and let them watch the game from his luxury suite. Class act.

He's the team owner, yes?

Indeed that was a classy thing to do.

Read the ensuing discussion below the article. Some pretty funny responses in amongst the serious ones.

Some of the "serious" responses are plain stupid. "It was wear Habs jersey day, not wear your favourite teams jersey day" and that makes it ok does it?

Fucking pathetic. I would have done the same thing, good for her

Overtime overload:
Three of last night’s games went to overtime. David Krejci scored his third goal of the night in the extra frame as the Boston Bruins forced the Leafs to the brink of elimination with a 4-3 win.
– Bruins have a 3-1 lead in the series.

The Kings, Ducks and Rangers also won last night.

I thought there might be a catfight brewing after last night's Leafs game between puck bunnies Elisha Cuthbert (Dion Phaneuf's fiancee) and Reimer's (the goaltender) hot wife, but apparently it was just a nasty look passed between them over "another fan's ignorant comment."

However when I first saw it happen it really looked to me like the hot wife was giving Cuthbert the stinkeye over her man's rather huge screwup on the ice.

The women both denied it later on Twitter though, according to good old TSN, Canada's sports leader. :D

In other news, FRANCE just beat team Russia 2-1 at the iiHF worlds. What an absolute shocker. This is their biggest win in their country's history.

See what not retreating gets you? :D

Team Canada is looking not too bad lately either, just having won a 3-0 victory over Sweden.

Looking forward to the Habs-Sens tonight.

Sens 6, Habs 1. Au revoire Montreal.
Anyone know if Ottawa's downtown district is still intact? Oh wait, that only happens on St Catherine's Ave. :D
The cheering would have been louder for the home team except half the habs' fans left 30 mins before the end of the game. Sounded more like an Ottawa crowd at the final horn.

This was the night of many routings.
Pens 4, Isles 0 - Pens lead series 3-2
Chicago 5, Wild 1. - Minnesota also joins Canucks and Habs in the ejected zone.

My original prediction stands, Blackhawks for the win!

There are at least 3 people here who think the Sens have the chops to win the cup. Interesting.

What's even more interesting is they made their predictions well before last night's hammering they handed to the habs.

What do these people know that we don't?

I was at the Sens very first game, They beat the Habs that night to, (back in 1992). Been a fan since Bruce Firestone was soliciting Paul Anka to buy into the team. Back then their logo was a picture of the parliament buildings, but the NHL rejected it, said it had nothing to do with hockey??? I was choosing them in the poll no matter how strong Pittsburgh looked at the end of the season. Now I think anything is possible, but I would really like to see the Islanders and Leafs get to the second round, that makes everything a lot more possible.

the thing is, at the start of the year the Sens were pegged to come last in the east (where Montreal finished last year). Then before the season started they lost a top 4 D man (Cowen), then by 5 games in they had lost their top forward and their best goal scorer (Spezza / Michalek) 10 games later they lost the best D man in the league, shortly after that, their number 1 goalie (who at the time had the best tending #'s in the league).

on paper this team had no chance of getting to the playoffs, zero expectations, they played free and hard and are being rewarded for it.

they are the exact opposite of the Blue Jays who bought the best team they possibly could and can't win anything (I love the blue jays, but they stink!)

the Sens could very well fade away next round, but recent playoffs should tell you they can't be counted out, no one can (except the Cannucks!)

Normally I would agree - I am from the school of "it is never the goalie's fault", but Fleury was just letting in too many from just plain bad decisions on his part alone.

I admit the Islanders have been a surprise though.

I wasn't saying it's never the goalie's fault. All I was saying was if you don't want to get scored on then try not letting the other team have so many opportunities to shoot. No matter how good your goaltender is if you're letting your opponent swarm around your net all the time the puck is bound to go in at some point.

Sure he made some poor plays and bad decisions, but most of it wouldn't have been an issue had his players in front of him played better D and thus kept the Islanders away from scoring chances.
