ePassporte Official Statment

From: Christopher Mallick, Owner, ePassporte.com <http://ePassporte.com>

Dear ePassporte Account Holders,

Please be advised that, at 12:00 PM PDT today, September 2, 2010, we were notified that effective immediately, Visa International has suspended our banking partner?s (St. Kitts Nevis Anguilla National Bank) ePassporte Visa program. The ePassporte e-Wallet program continues to be up and running, except funds cannot be transferred between your Visa Account and your e-Wallet. At this time ePassporte can no longer issue Visa Cards, and the ability for our Account Holders to make point of sale purchases and withdraw funds from ATMs has also been suspended.

At this time we do not know why this drastic action was taken by Visa. To us, it is unconscionable that such action would be taken without the opportunity for ePassporte to fully understand Visa?s reasons and to be able to take all steps necessary to keep our program running the way it has so successfully done for over 7 years. But that is what Visa has done.

As soon as we have more information we will be in contact with you.

In the meantime please be assured that your funds are safe.

We are very sorry for the short notice and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. The ePassporte team is working diligently to rectify this situation.

We kindly ask you to bear with us while we work through this issue.

Please feel free to contact us via the message center or at our call center, should you have any questions, comments or concerns.

Thank You,

Christopher Mallick

Please email me at [email protected] and I will do my best to respond as quickly as possible. It will probably be the best option since IM will be very busy.

Thanks
Michael

this sounds like the type of thing that doesn't get resolved quickly...

if that's even the real story.

rhizome 09-02-2010 06:21 PM

So how can a Canadian get access to the money now?

wire? :helpme

btw, if you listen closely you can hear epassporte imploding

Michael O 09-02-2010 06:23 PM

If the money are on the Wallet you can withdraw via wire, a US bank account or to a credit/debit card in your name.
If the funds are on the Virtual Visa its not possible to access them at this time.

Sly 09-02-2010 06:24 PM

I'm not very familiar with epass so I am a little unclear as to what exactly this means and how it may impact me.

Right now I have one sponsor paying to my epass, I then use that money solely for paying other people for services. Nothing more. Will this new situation impact me at all?

1) turn yourself into a moose
2) drink 2 crates of Labatts
3) beat off furiously
4) await further instructions from the Hong Kong cartel

st0ned 09-02-2010 06:24 PM

Wow...I had gone to the ATM earlier today to make a withdraw and received some weird error. I go to login to activate the ATM Limits so that I could go try again and I see this message.

What the hell happened? Errrrrrrrrr I have funds in my account that I can no longer access via ATM. Unreal. I have used ePassporte for years, sure as hell did not expect this.

Is this an issue that will be sorted out at some point?

Fucking great... :disgust

Juicy D. Links 09-02-2010 06:25 PM

how do i change a US checking account i have already in peassporte?

Michael O 09-02-2010 06:25 PM

We are working on getting this situation solved as soon as possible so our Account Holders again will have full functionality of their accounts.

I don't see why it's not possible to move it over, that doesn't make sense.

Phoenix 09-02-2010 06:26 PM

somewhere someone is banging their head against the wall

st0ned 09-02-2010 06:26 PM

I just realized that all of my funds in epassporte are in my Virtual Visa account. So what does this mean for me? That I no longer have access to do anything with the funds at all?

Its only possible to have one active account at a time if you want to change your current bank account:
Please email me your UserID, and the last 4 digits of the account you have now.

talk to VISA :1orglaugh:error

vdbucks 09-02-2010 06:28 PM

First, how can you guys not have a "plan b" for something this drastic?
Second, why visa over mastercard?

Lastly, would now be a good time for more programs to offer payoneer?

DavieVegas 09-02-2010 06:29 PM

So that means all my money in epassw i cant take out because I cant take it out via atm anymore? Thats illegal actually and there better be another way for me to get my money asap...

TwinCities 09-02-2010 06:30 PM

Guys, read the man's fucking post......

"At this time ePassporte can no longer issue Visa Cards, and the ability for our Account Holders to make point of sale purchases and withdraw funds from ATMs has also been suspended."

HomerSimpson 09-02-2010 06:30 PM

I was just going to buy some domains and I got declined twice in a row and then I logged in at epass and saw this...

hope it will get solved soon!

Michael O 09-02-2010 06:30 PM

Funds on the Virtual card can not be accessed at this time cause Visa have suspended the cards, only funds in the Wallet can be accessed.

Either Visa or epass is responsible legally. People cant take out thousands of dollars now because of this and there better be another option for people to get there money or tons of lawsuits which will result into wins

mightyjoe 09-02-2010 06:31 PM

i'm so unlucky today, i just did paypal to epass a couple hrs ago, now its even useless than paypal.

they should posted this epass messages 2 hours from now.

I am sorry but at this time its not possible to transfer the money from the virtual card since Visa have suspended the cards. Only funds that are already in the Wallet is possible to move.

Why can I not transfer my funds from my Virtual Visa account into my wallet like I have always been able to? That doesn't make sense. What kind of time frame are we talking here? I have a lot of money tied up on my Virtual Visa now.

I don't quite understand this. It looks like any deposited funds are automatically added to the "Virtual Visa" card. Why is it like that to begin with?

If the money is in your Wallet then you can withdraw it, if its on the virtual card then its not possible at this time.

Pseudonymous 09-02-2010 06:35 PM

I went to fill out the form to wire myself some money but I cannot because some fields aren't applicable to canadian residents

We don't have IBAN numbers and pretty sure we don't have "Originator's TIN(SSN or EIN)"

Before we introduced the Wallet that were the only option, after we introduced the Wallet there is a setting to choose where you want the money stored when you get an incoming transfer.
