Alexa Rank, How Important is it ??

Hey squad, just recently one of my websites reached 200k Alexa Rank,

Should I be jumping for joy. :jerkoff

Does your Alexa Rank means anything, or are they just a bunch of cute :banana numbers ??

OneMillionGirls 05-08-2017 03:17 PM

damn, congrats man

good work

RustyRanks 05-09-2017 12:13 AM

Meaningless.
Alexa just give you an indication to a sites traffic levels so when you visit a site you can see roughly how much traffic it gets.

congrats on reaching 200k

j3rkules 05-09-2017 03:33 AM

Yes, it is meaningless. You can chat it very easily.

magneto664 05-09-2017 04:30 AM

Yeap - the best money is always from stupid ideas.

Birdcatcher 05-09-2017 07:50 AM

Congratulations! Alexa gives you an indication of traffic on sites. I prefer to use Google Analytics.

XTraffics 05-09-2017 05:10 PM

Congrat for you

P_RABID 05-09-2017 07:24 PM

So I'm gathering I should give zero :censored, ok, thanks gang

Denny 05-10-2017 11:42 AM

Useless and yes, it can be faked too, there is no reason to monitor it. The only thing that matters is money on your bank account :2 cents::thumbsup

Yes Alexa can be faked BUT you are NOT faking it with a bought bots, the folks did not noted that. You are real ( I presume) and your Alexa is also real....

I have no clue what are you selling but :

200 K honest Alexa means you are getting into the money league.
Once you hit 100 K or less you will not be talking to us any more.... You will not need to.

If you are however "salting" your Alexa, then it is useless as the folks above stated...:2 cents:

Mi$terMax 05-11-2017 11:53 AM

I've always been interested in this. Also the difference between Alexa and Similarweb is huge. Which one is more reliable?

gnawledge 05-11-2017 12:53 PM

The sites I have that have a 700k in Alexa usually are getting 2000+ visitors a day. So when I buy a domain or interested in one, I check Alexa to see if it has traffic. That along with other avenues it's a good start.

If you're shelling out 10000s of dollars for a .com solely based on the traffic to it, or backlinks then you should have wide range of tools to check your future investment.

P_RABID 05-11-2017 08:42 PM

Just to let you guys know, its not a faked alexa rank, just a lot of dedication.

Two words, Social Media ;-)

I am sure that the OP will tell you that with 200 K Alexa you are doing about 2.5 K real visitors. With 700 K maybe around a 1,000.

That's not true at all, I get 12k visitors daily to one site and Alexa is around 200,000
So how many visitors you have doesn't mean your alexa will be lower also alexa only counts if the visitors has the alexa toolbar installed. In 2017 there are much better services to really see how much traffic a website gets, alexa is old school

It doesn't matter how long you will repeat that shit about "toolbar" - it will always be shit.
Alexa get information from named and unnamed plugin, addon, extensions and marketing, companies and other like a data from antivirus firewalls routers big data traffic tools and other shit - your use forum were 80% people get money by online adverts - and you don't have idea how companies track users? REALLY ? guys seriously?

You have no idea obviously what you're talking about, here it is taken directly from alexa.com/about

Quote:

Alexa's traffic estimates are based on data from our global traffic panel, which is a sample of millions of Internet users using one of over 25,000 different browser extensions. In addition, we gather much of our traffic data from direct sources in the form of sites that have chosen to install the Alexa script on their site and certify their metrics. However, site owners can always choose to keep their certified metrics private.
So yes a user does need to be using one of there different browser extensions for it to effect a websites rankings, The toolbar would be one of those extensions!
Bottom line Alexa ranking is useless and can be easily faked, it's not a very reliable source

I am only refering to Alexa ranking, for my stats I use GA...not old school at all :2 cents:

Also Alexa toolbar has sufficient statistical sample instalations to be accurate as any statistical ranking incl. GA.

Andreweb 05-14-2017 10:10 AM

Alexa it's a crap I have one site under 200k Alexa that is getting 10k UV daily another one that has 700k is getting 200 UV a day and another one that has 1,2 mil Alexa is getting 1k UV a day ! So Alexa is totally useless!

bns666 05-14-2017 11:11 AM

not important anymore

It is still a good measure on how well your site it. Considering you did not "cheat" in obtaining your Alexa rank.
But overall, it's not that important anymore. I have a site that has 960k Rank but is doing better in terms of traffic than my other 180k.

JuicyBunny 05-16-2017 12:01 PM

+1 for meaningless.

Woodchuck 05-17-2017 11:33 AM

it's the bible of search

Lia ADxXx 05-19-2017 07:48 AM

Congratulations!
200K! It's really cool :thumbsup
