Amazon S3, Cloudfront
Hello guys, does anyone have experience with serving private content through Amazon S3 & Cloudfront?
Their documentation is confusing and there's no helpful tutorial online. |
Is that allow adult content?
|
Yes it does.
I'm also open to other alternatives. |

It seems they provide pay as you go model. Is it true? How much would it cost for just few user usage daily? I read it has a built in private option from their faqs. |

Yes, it's a "pay as you go" pricing model, so it depends on how much storage and bandwidth you use per month.

Amazon doesn't allow porn files. They can't check every file, but if you are reported, they'll just delete your bucket. There's also no way to secure the files. Its an open bucket system.
Then you want to install WP and turn that into a paysite? thats a long way around to do a simple thing. Try Porn CMS - Simple Adult Website Content Management - its a plug and play paysite WITH VIDEO conversion and cloud-based streaming playback - starting at $29 a month. you can't beat it. # |

I ask only because I actually can't find any info saying that you cannot host adult content on their servers. Not in AWS' FAQs, nor in their forums. It actually appears that there's been folks that have had adult sites asking tech questions. |

back to topic : I use a amazon aws for a 9~10 months period ( I have a free coupons~600 usd) And Is amazing - if you setup a Wordpress site use a serverpilot (ref) any wordpress instalation by serverpilot + linode, digitalocean or vultr is amazing but amazon is super fast and stable. (and expensive in long time) |
On Amazon's AUP page (AWS Acceptable Use Policy) it says:
Offensive Content. Content that is defamatory, obscene, abusive, invasive of privacy, or otherwise objectionable, including content that constitutes child pornography, relates to bestiality, or depicts non-consensual sex acts. "Obscene" is determined on a case by case basis, just like the US govt. They will also delete your bucket without warning if they deem your content obscene. Seems like a big risk to me. Many of the sites on our network would spend hundreds of $$ at S3, especially the ones making daily sales. Have you calculated usage pricing for your project? Its not the best idea.. https://aws.amazon.com/s3/pricing/ You can hack together whatever solution you want using a bunch of various services, but there's an easier and cheaper way :winkwink: # |

Seems to be clear that they'll be fine with adult content as long as it's consensual and legal. They'd be pretty dumb to keep themselves from profiting off adult business, honestly. |
They allow adult but I wouldn't push any boundaries.
Their bandwidth and storage prices are very expensive though. I wouldn't recommend it. Also, anything you build on AWS can only run on AWS. There are some S3 compatible open source solutions in OpenStack. |
Do NOT use AWS. The setup between your instances, EB (Elastic Beanstalk), Cloudfront, and your software is a nightmare. To keep things running you need a true AWS expert.
