Killing off File Lockers

As some of you know I have started a campaign to try and kill off File Lockers.

My first step was to set up a website http://coldcopy.com.au and a backup http://hotcopy.com.au

(coldcopy.com.au is down due to DDOS but hotcopy.com.au is still up. I am prepared to set up 100 sites on different machines and hosts if necessary to keep this campaign going)

Then I set about, with the help of the GFY community, targeting Paypal who process for the illegal material that these file lockers allow to be stored on their systems.

The next obvious step is to target Mastercard and Visa and embarrass them into applying pressure to the billing companies that support the file lockers.

The question I have is, who is really serious about an outcome where file lockers no longer have a place and are forced to shut down because their business model is destroyed ?

I am prepared to put personal time, resources and money into achieving a successful outcome. However I can't do it all by myself.

I started this thread to have a serious discussion about tactics we can use to make the life of file locker operators miserable. Let's see if we can all come up with some good ideas.

candyflip 06-27-2012 06:09 AM

If you can zip of the site/database, you might get a few people here willing to put up mirrors.

I've got some space to do so.

Thanks for the offer, but in order to publish to all sites at the same time it's best to keep them all together where I can easily modify the sites at will. I have written a script to work with Mars Edit which lets me type out an article once and publish to unlimited sites.

The best help people can provide is to get right behind this, write articles, share the website on social media, share individual posts on social media and help raise public awareness.

We also need to hammer Paypal until they stop processing for these sites. Once Paypal has been dealt with we can move onto Mastercard and Visa, then there are further steps that could be taken to help make the life of a file locker operator more difficult.

I also need ideas about what other aspects we should publicize to the wider public. Perhaps there are other things we could all be doing as a web site is only one aspect.

Your efforst are greatly appreciated AdultKing. We'll post several quality backlinks to your blog when DDOS attack is over.

AdultKing 06-27-2012 06:28 AM

Thanks for that. Backlinks will be appreciated.

CCBill dropping file lockers proved that with the right pressure that we can cut off the money supply to these sites.

There is a backup site http://hotcopy.com.au
There is a Twitter account @coldcopy
And there is also a Facebook page which can be liked from the sidebar of each of the two sites.

Axeman 06-27-2012 07:22 AM

Did you send your site facts to any media news desks?

Yes, I have been in contact with media for the past 24 hours.

There has already been coverage on radio in Melbourne Wednesday morning.

Right now I am busy working on a solution to mitigate the DDOS attacks affecting the main site , however the mirror is up and working at http://hotcopy.com.au

raymor 06-27-2012 07:41 AM

Please either give us a clear checklist of exactly what else we can do, with links, or ask for a volunteer to provide that kind of leadership. People will "click here" if you give them a "here" to click.

Is there any particular site(s) to target this week, or do we need to find sites? Maybe we should find more examples on freakshare and get rid of them today? AdultKing, do you want to provide this kind of tactical leadership? Maybe DWB does?

It sounds like the effort could use someone who is good at writing press releases, is that right? Any volunteers?

Three.Thousand 06-27-2012 07:43 AM

How about google bombing paypal to lead to this :)

MrDeiz 06-27-2012 07:44 AM

once Visa and MC ban filelockers the next thing they ban is porn :2 cents:

PayPal is better target

AdultKing 06-27-2012 07:47 AM

Press releases are needed, I obviously cannot do all this myself.

I would like screenshots of some of the file locker resellers with paypal, mastercard and visa logos.

I would like screenshots of file locker search sites showing links to illegal material on various file lockers.

The first step is getting Paypal to pull the plug on file lockers as a whole, just like CCBill did. So anyone who wants to ring Paypal should.

Here are some numbers:

1-402-935-2000 (Customer Service, Paypal Receptionist) Press 2 to go to reception.
1-402-935-2238 (Tiffany Zaporowski, Strategic Risk Operations)
1-402-935-2007 (A very annoyed project manager who I have called)

I will post more numbers on the website once I have it back up in a a few hours. I am going to post the email exchange with the manager of risk operations complete with his mobile number and office number.

NO!!!!!

We should not resort to these tactics. We need to appear to hold the moral high ground in all of this.

The best way to deal with this issue is to strangle the file locker's ability to process payments. Once that's done there's another step but I won't post it yet as I don't want to forewarn the File Locker community who are monitoring these threads.

wjunction.com posters think that all the screen captures on http://coldcopy.com.au and http://hotcopy.com.au are fake.

signupdamnit 06-27-2012 08:18 AM

Looks like the games may have already started. I can't load coldcopy but I can load the backup.

I'll conduct some searches and see about sending you some screenshots. I feel hesitant to do much beyond typing terms in google and seeing what comes up. I think it's on shakey ground in my jurisdiction to actually click the links to go to the file host and grab a screenshot.

I suggest a more subtle campaign in addition to what you are doing. Don't make it obvious that you want them shutdown. Just post questions and comments on finance forums and the like which could be highly embarrassing to Paypal, Visa, and Mastercard. "I have some stocks in Paypal but I was shocked to learn they also do some business with those distributing bestiality porn. Is this a new emerging market for Paypal?"

Copy Paypal on every DMCA. We have sent hundreds on extabit and copied Paypal.
[email protected] Include the pirate porn site where the links were found as well. That gives them a great picture of what they are selling :winkwink:

Make sure to complete this and send to them prior to copying Paypal:

I dont want screenshots that contain images. I only want screenshots like the ones already on http://coldcopy.com.au and http://hotcopy.com.au.

The aim of the websites are clear, to shut down file lockers. It's entirely appropriate for others to target forums with such subtle posts. However the campaign I have started is simply one aim, kill file lockers.

AdultKing 06-27-2012 08:44 AM

Question. Does the general public know of these sites as "File Lockers" ? Or what other name does the general public associate with these sites ?

And are all those Filestube links fake too? There are next to 6K of them, from various filehosts. Were they all sent to Filestube by evil copyright holders, who only seek to destroy the good image of the law abiding guys and girls who run their nice and clean sites strictly within the realm of the law?

Hell, they even provide pedo search SUGGESTIONS to guide surfers to better find kiddy porn. Ya know, too many of it available, you need to refine your search and be more specific as to what do you want - 11 years old girls, 12 years boys etc. All of it is availble at those filehosts listed to the left of the SERP, most of them accept paypal for payments.

Awesome screenshots, I'll use them once http://coldcopy.com.au is back up which should be very soon, within the hour.

Back to my question: Does the general public know of these sites as "File Lockers" ? Or what other name does the general public associate with these sites ?

Put your site on Cloudflare.com to help mitigate DDOS attacks. It's free.

IMHO you gotta fight fire with fire. These pricks are not playing fair and are in the position they are in because of it. There is no moral high ground when you are dealing with pirates. As it has been done throughout history, you catch them and hang them.

Anyone who is serious about it, do whatever it is you can do. No need to even discuss it openly, just use whatever skills you have and get it done.

Kuddos to you.

I agree with Brad about Cloudflare.

Maybe it would be a good idea to start an online petition and hand it over to PayPal. Once people have signed the petition they will likely share it with their FB and Twitter friends.

What word or two letter phrase most accurately describes a file locker that the general public would understand. I thought the words "file locker" became widespread when Megaupload got busted, perhaps I am wrong.

Suggestions please :)

Looking at the reports about Megaupload in the mainstream media it seems "file-sharing site" is the most common term used.

"megaupload kind of site" "rapidshare kind of site"

File locker (or cyber locker) is the most used, just need to educate people what it is, and how it differs from all other ways of download. Just put: (Make money per download) next to it or similar. short description to describe it.

AdultKing 06-27-2012 09:47 AM

How about "File Lockers" and "File Hosts" ?

In torrentfreak comments they usually refer to those sites as either cyberlockers or filehosters.

I usually hear: "File sharing sites"

Also hear "Upload sites" and "Download sites" to describe them. Not sure which is the most common, but if I had to choose one I'd go with: "File sharing sites"

After eBay bought PayPal, there was a period of time in which PayPal stopped handling hardcore porn. When this happened, I warned S.S. Crompton (the current publisher of Carnal Comics) about the change in paypal policy. He thought his x-rated comic books would not violate paypal's policy change. He was wrong, his paypal account was frozen so he could not get money out of it. Years later, PayPal went back to allowing hardcore porn.
