People looking for free porn aren't the best demographic.

I'm guessing they head back to the tube when they see it's a paysite... :(

sizz 03-19-2012 10:21 PM

Been a while since I was in the tube site biz but a number I real was 60:70,000. 1:1000 if you are doing ok.

I have no idea what the straight ratios are, but on the gay side, submitting is totally worth it, as is having your own tube.

5 minutes is the new 2 minutes, but with good editing you don't give too much away, even in five minutes.

iwantchixx 03-19-2012 11:00 PM

Honestly? I was submitting to about 80 tubes using an auto submitter with 5:00 clips, hardly nothing.

Started submitting to just a hand select few while paying special attention to giving longer and better descriptions with 10:00+ clips that show all positions of the action and it skyrocketed to around 1:250 from what I could track. Of course that could just be because our content speaks for itself but it still leads me to believe there is actually money in tubes from a submitters point of view.

Make the videos look full, use a type-in page that mimics the tour, update it every week. Fill that mimicked tour with 5 minute hosted FLVs for a few dozen girls in update order (newest to older). Put page links on bottom such as "Page 1, 2, 3" etc. Link those to the sponsor's tour. Also add join now button leading to sponsor's join page, "members area" button leading to sponsor's join page and "more girls" button leading to sponsor's tour page.

Keep in mind too, even if you submit to countless tubes that make no sales, most allow backlinks. Those backlinks are gold. Trust me. Use them. Also, even if nobody buys anything when they type your domain in right now, it shows traffic to your site if you are optimizing it and using analytics. Give them something to chew on to keep them on your site for as long as possible. Your page will benefit from it in time. It doesn't happen overnight but it does benefit you in other ways.

Keep trying.. don't give up. Traffic is traffic, just use some of these tips to monetize it and keep tweaking until you get it right.

If the sponsor is using nats check to see if you can put links with each girl's update on your mimicked tour to the corresponding girl's tour page (if they have them). I believe you can do this with most ccbill sponsors too (double check first though).

That's why you gotta give them something to chew on when they get to the type-in page. Something that will keep them there.

We are very surprised to be getting sales and good ratios from a tube site, 600:1

Like iwantchixx says above longer clips and better editing is working much better than just 5min cut from a scene clips.

DaCaptain 03-20-2012 07:28 AM

My tube site, Debauchery dot com, closed 1:1,625 of traffic sent to affiliates last year.

MarkDeus 03-20-2012 08:10 AM

Tubes DO convert. I'm not gonna give specific ratios, but whoever gets 1:60k should probably review his whole content and the frequency of his updates. No one does that bad on PornerBros.

You guys needs to stop spending time taking into equation the userbase that do not and will not buy your content, and concentrate on showing the best you've got to those willing to flip out their wallets.

Most of my best-selling sponsors have an active presence on the site, and show vids of approx 7 minutes with a little bit of everything. 5 minutes is great(random cut is better)

a lot of our sponsors do 1:1000 without problems. Some even fall in the 1:500-600, or even less.
iwantchixx: Send me your stuff, we'll make it convert.

Edit: Gay stuff converts really good. That's why we have a huge surprise coming soon. This week if everything goes well.

porno jew 03-20-2012 08:14 AM

someone post an example of what an ideal 5-6 min video would be that would convert.

Where is the evidence that longer clips are better?

We get more traffic from the 1 minute clips we have posted than the 15 minutes...

1:8 icecreams but looking forward for olympics

The watermark URL on the video. If your sponsor allows it, remove their watermark and put up your own. A very simple easy to remember attractive url. 13-14 point and just black text at bottom corner. Very simple. This is where the bulk of your traffic will come from.

Signed up but upload disabled. We have a bunch of hosted FLV clips in our program if that's what you'd prefer.

Full scenes --> 1:250
Sponsor provided 5 minute clips --> 0:5000

Personally I don't care about the sponsor provided clips because they are just a filler while the full scenes are being encoded and uploaded to the servers... Meanwhile google indexes the pages and the SEO guy can do his work.

Tube submits conversions

I own a small outsource center and one of our girls has been doing tube submits for a sponsor and all his sites for almost 3 years now. He pays us $600+/month so that tells me he is still making some bank.:2 cents:

On our own affiliate submits we have one sponsor we are @ 1:333, another 1:350, another 1:800 and two others are ofer 1,000's lol. Just dropped them and looking for some fetish stuff now, preferable with ccbill or paxum.:helpme
