Have not done any hosted stores, but from the shopping cart softwares, OScommerce and Opencart are by far the best and we have also used a few other ones.. Magento is also good, but the price tags on that one are just off the chart.

prestashop ftw i have been using it for quite some time now and there is no better solution ..

I use presta shop. It's built into my hosts cpanel as a simple install.
Takes some tinkering to get everything dialed in but the features are outstanding and the design is much nicer than anything out of the box that's free.

oscommerce and zen cart are good and free. Out of the box they are very basic and need some time to setup. You also have to work with the fact they are not PCI PA DSS compliant ( Mastercard and Visa require it ). There are ways around it using payment gateways like paypal but then again, paypal doesn't allow adult payments on their system.

Vantagecart.com is a paid hosted solution.
Boysinc.com has been using it for some time.

Presta is my favorite and it's free with all DWHS hosting accounts. http://www.dwhs.net/web-hosting-plans.htm

Ubercart is one of my favorites. Drupal with ubercart is a complete solution for e-com.

topsiteking 09-23-2013 12:21 AM

Anyone else?
(Great thread bump)

if you're not selling too many products, BigCartel gives you a nice and clean look. It's mainly aimed at artists and people selling clothing.

Drupal has a Commerce Kickstart install thats made for getting an online store front up and running quickly and easily, you may look into that.
