Web/graphic Designer PT to FT Needed in Canoga Park, CA

Moderately funded mainstream start-up is searching for a talented web/graphic designer local to Canoga Park, CA (North-West Los Angeles area) for part-time in-house work which will lead to a full-time career with benefits for the right individual. The primary job of the Web/Graphic Designer is to create designs and interfaces for websites, advertisements, and other elements we have from time-to-time.

Absolute Requirements:
- At least 2 years of professional experience in web and/or graphic design. (If you're talented we may overlook this one.);
- Knowledge and experience with PHP (any versions); if you can distinguish PHP from HTML (and know what NOT to touch) you can pass;
- Solid understanding of HTML and CSS an absolute MUST;
- Experience with Flash (nothing too extreme, just basic is required);
- Can work using PC (or know how file translations work between PC/MAC and work efficiently with MAC);
- At least basic knowledge and understandings of web layouts, usability and design issues between browsers, and designing interactive user interfaces;

Basic Requirements:
- Organized and efficient;
- Ability to work a minimum of 20 hours per week (during regular business hours) at the offices here in Canoga Park, CA;
- Ability to effectively and efficiently multi-task with several projects;

Brownie Points:
- Experience with marketing and advertising;
- Experience with JavaScript a major plus;
- Experience designing interfaces with the jQuery JavaScript library;
- Knowledge and/or experience with HTML5;
- Knowledge and/or experience with CSS3;
- Experience designing for email newsletters;
- PHP! If you can honestly say you are intermediate to advanced with PHP you will be well ahead of the rest;
- Experience using file check in-out systems (like Subversion);
- Advanced Flash experience/knowledge;
- Flex experience/knowledge;
- SEO experience/knowledge and designing with SEO in mind;


We don't care what file editor you prefer (Dreamweaver is NOT the only editor on the market by the way), and actually prefer that you can write HTML+CSS from scratch using any simple text editor. Obviously you will absolutely need to know how to use PhotoShop or any other image editor you prefer. During our development and beta design phases you will be paying more attention to actual design rather than markup layout so if you don't particularly like writing markup no worries, but it will be required in the future.
