What kind of mainstream sites do you have?

My wife and I run several mainstream sites.

We have 2 jewelry sites that feature my wifes homemade jewelry and then she has an ETSY shop where she sells vintage jewelry supplies.

Then I have an arcade site, a mainstream dating site and I am currently working on a dropship hydroponics site.

So, what kind of mainstream sites do you have? Hard goods? Digital Goods? ???

Hey,

On the Toys, you doing dropship or affiliate or your own hardgoods?

I had no clue what airsoft was so I looked it up. Some pretty cool looking air guns out there. How does that do for you?

We do our own hardgoods on jewelry and do distribution on vintage jewelry supplies. We tried to do a dropship opertaion for a while but it was like affiliates, had about 500 people sign up but only one or two that ever did any real biz.

I forgot on my list, we also have a few blogs, mainly in support of the main jewelry sites and then I have a local forum just for fucking around type stuff.

No, Yes, and Yes
Drop shipping is too time consuming currently but is a market area that needs to be pursued by someone. Our wholesale market is so active we simply haven't taken the time to fully embrace it.

I had no clue what airsoft was so I looked it up.
I had never heard of "airsoft" until 2 yrs ago and had no clue what it was.
As a reseller the profits currently are at every level, from 100% wholesaling to 600%+ retailing. I know that doesn't seem possible but it is happening day-in-day-out. Whodda thunk it? This is US based sales only due to import and shipping regulations globally.

I may (or may not) post in this thread again because GFY in their infinite wisdom offers NO pm's or post alerts. And I simply don't have time to drop by to keep in touch with matters. I don't think GFY is capable or willing at this point of actually supporting a "mainstream" forum.

We did drop shipping with the Jewelry for several years but have never done any affiliate program.

Unfortunately, the time consuming part was the constant hand holding not the shipping part. We had about 450 or so accounts of which a hand ful actually sent orders. We finally just dropped back to direct sales only.

I provide PRO video production services for my local business community. I am happy to give any production tips or advice to fellow vidoegraphers on GFY.

I sell Weight Loss Products online. The Weight-loss is product is really heating up and business is the best I have seen since the start of the recession. Contact me via private email on GFY if you want to know more.

My mainstream sites are far exceeding my adult sites in revenue at the moment.

I do quite a bit of programming for mainstream clients too, mainly local face to face type biz there. I keep meaning to get a website up to advertise it but never have the time.

I also work a full time day job so my hours to do "outside" work are limited, so I can only take on a very limited number of clients at a time.

Yeah, weight loss is probably a good thing to be pushing any time, I would think that there would always be a market for that.

Cool. Back in the day, I used to love Auto Trader (the hardcopy version). Great way to look for cars and trucks.

I am always looking for 1978 Ford Fiestas. You wouldn't know if you have any ads out there for 1, would you?

All of my mainstream products that I market I am in for the long term. Weight-loss is a great product and you have to put effort to write blog post and promote it. Over time the traffic and word-of-mouth builds up where it can be a good income each month.

This is a link to my site that explains the product that I sell. I created my own website since the company website that they wanted to sell to me sort of stinks and I really did not like how it functioned. So if you are a good web designer and know how to write ad-copy you can probably do as well as I am. The franchise opportunity is here

You can ICQ me at 588569938 if you have any questions or would like just talk about mainstream marketing. Weight-loss is not my only product, I believe in having many sources of income.

We have a merchant processing affiliate program which is now in beta. if you would like a reduced rate and 24 hour funding to your bank account with visa, mc, and amex, we can set ya up lol . I had to throw that in. But it would be great if you could put a link to our site on a resource page on your site.

I have one mainstream site that I am building right now. It's called sloscenes.com. It's so someone can come into our county in California (San Luis Obispo) and find things to do. Bars, restaurants, concerts, car shows, etc. etc. etc. Of course there is a section on adult entertainment but it is a very small part of the site. I'm pretending its a tube so it's free for the surfer but I will be selling upgrade ads to local businesses.
Well not all the way built yet but I just wanted to try something different besides porn. If anyone out there has any suggestions or ideas feel free to let me know.

I had sites about:

-Horror movies
-Bodybuilding
-Internet marketing
-WordPress

Today I'm out of the mainstream world, and I do not have any mainstream project.

I'm thinking in creating a poker blog.

The secret is to work only with things that we enjoy and have strong knowledge.

Well, since the mainstream forum was being discussed a little in the main forum again, and since Sly has said he will clean up this forum (which he has already started on, thank you Sly) I decided to come over and revisit this thread.

An update if you will:

Back in November 2012 I quit my dayjob. I would like to say that I did it as part of an overall plan but it wasn't that way...lol. I got all mad, told the boss to go fuck himself and walked. Since then we have been managing to make ends meet, some months very tight, some months doing really good.

We continue with the Jewelry sites, that part of the biz is now about 13 years old. My wife still gets a good amount of income from her Etsy shop but sales have been slowing down some and Etsy has been doing some stupid stuff so we are in the planning stages to get several other income streams going for her.

I have not been paying much attention to my mainstream sites but instead have been taking on more and more non-adult programming clients. Getting to do some fun jquery and ajax stuff. Most of what I have been building are medium scale database systems but have also been doing some site stuff here and there.

So, what new stuff are you guys doing in mainstream?
