Should pet food be allowed on Food Stamps?

If someone who owns a dog is out of work and has to go on food stamps then
they have to feed their dog human food.
This food makes humans fat.

So ask yourself, "Does America need fat dogs too?"

Sign the petition to put dog food in a dog's bowl :

https://www.thepetitionsite.com/652/...snap-benefits/

Dogs gotta eat too.

I dont see why not...if they get x amount of $ in food stamps and want to spend some on their pet they should be able to do so...

Are you trolling? Or are you actually serious? If someone can't afford dog food, maybe dog ownership isn't for them? And it's not like dog food is expensive, you can buy a 50lb bag of dog food for $10 at walmart which should last most dogs at least a month.

So if a burger flipper get's laid off because Chick Fil-a is kicking ass in Hooterville,
can he eat his dog to avoid getting on food stamps or does he have to give the dog away and accept food stamps right away?

He/she buys a $10 50lb bag of some generic dog food at walmart and feeds the dog that way. I have no idea why some are trying to solve a problem that doesn't exist.

I may have exaggerated slightly, but a bag of generic dog food really is something like $13.99 at walmart (in the US), no idea if it's 50lbs, but it's a huge bag that most people wouldn't be able to lift off the ground.

$14 will get you a 16 lb bag. If you can't lift that off the ground you got more problems than how you're going to feed a dog.

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Purina-Do...b-Bag/49627233

$19.99 for PURINA (a brand name product) for 32lb bag, generic brand is close to half price, so 40 or 50lb bag really is $13.99 in stores.

Why didnt you provide a link to generic? Maybe because it doesnt exist?

Do you also argue poor people can eat at taco bell for a dollar?

I don't really have time to search for it, maybe the prices are different in stores, but here is a 50lb bag for $19.99:
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Ol-Roy-Ba...50-Lb/38026153

It's only $20 for a huge bag that most dogs wouldn't be able to eat in a month, so if someone can't scrape together $20 to feed their dogs, I'm not sure what to tell them, but dog ownership might not be for them.

I don't understand your logic. He would have other expenses besides his and his dog's food. Should he be allowed to buy everything that he needs on food stamp program then?

You are mental.

If I work at a company 30 years and it goes out of business and I need food stamps for food while I look for a new job you think my dog should be taken away you are complete fucking moron.

The majority of people on food stamps have a job.

40% of food stamp recipents have no job.

You're not American. You've never been to America. And clearly you don't know what we're talking about and how the food stamp system works and who's on food stamps.

GOD what an argumentative TOOL you are dude.
No one is saying "Get a dog" if you get fired you fucktard.
What if you already have a dog when you get fired?
Oh I know, you would say EAT IT, right?

mineistaken is right, you shouldn't get a dog unless you are in a pretty stable financial position. If you are in a such a weak financial position that losing a job would result in you not being able to afford $10-$20 bag of dog food for a few months, then clearly getting a dog is not a good idea.

Indeed, it is a super common sense.

Those idiots are merely blinded with hate towards me and with their inability to use basic thinking functions.

Ps: you should also specify that this advice is relevant to all and not one specific country, apparently some tools might not understand that as well

True. All those poor disabled people barely scraping by that need guide/service dogs should have thought it through better.

Sorry no apology. You said DON'T GET A DOG after you said what you said, therefore implying that someone would get the dog AFTER he was fired. Yes it could be interpreted you meant "Don't get a dog in the first place" or, "Don't EVER get a dog in case one day you MAY be fired" but that would be idiotic and that's not what you wrote. You probably meant "Don't HAVE a dog" but 'get' implies GETTING one. Write better English to avoid these issues.

Also, you prove in almost every thread you post in that you have zero human feelings for any living creature. So again, no apologies.

I love how poor people should just die in some people's opinion.

Being poor can happen to anyone! There is a guy on here who was homeless, also a veteran, and now he is doing fine. He was the same guy all along, a hardworking person. He just had a difficult patch.

Many poor people are WORKING POOR. Also, having a dog has health benefits, look it up yourselves, do you want these poor people to have less health? Then you'd say they were a drain on taxes for healthcare.

Poor people happen, and many of them are good people. MOST very rich people are total slimeballs. I know who I'd want around me if I had to choose, and I bet I deal with more rich powerful people than any 10 of you fuckers put together.

You think poor people shouldn't have pets, they shouldn't drink, they should be content with their shitty food and shitty lives, and not get sick or just die?

Consider this - somewhere in your recent ancestry there was a poor person. They didn't take your stupid advice, and they lived and now you're here. I realize that's not a very strong argument - we're using your existence as if it was somehow a benefit - but it should at least give you reason to think.

I've never been homeless, but based on the way they're treated I'm not sure I'd survive it. Thank goodness MS did.

I have less issue with someone on food stamps or some sort of food assistance using it to buy dog/cat food than with some of the shit they're allowed to buy.

Also, maybe this would be an incentive for them to keep their animal vs. dumping it when they fall on hard times.

QFT. Total agreement, most people treat poor people like they have some kind of disease or they 'deserve it' because they are morally weak somehow (yet 'rich people' have some of the most twisted morals around).

Here's an idea: don't be a dick towards other people's situations. And I love dogs more than most people, too. LOL
