Should pet food be allowed on Food Stamps?
If someone who owns a dog is out of work and has to go on food stamps then
they have to feed their dog human food. This food makes humans fat. So ask yourself, "Does America need fat dogs too?" Sign the petition to put dog food in a dog's bowl : https://www.thepetitionsite.com/652/...snap-benefits/ Dogs gotta eat too. |

I dont see why not...if they get x amount of $ in food stamps and want to spend some on their pet they should be able to do so...

Are you trolling? Or are you actually serious? If someone can't afford dog food, maybe dog ownership isn't for them? And it's not like dog food is expensive, you can buy a 50lb bag of dog food for $10 at walmart which should last most dogs at least a month.

He/she buys a $10 50lb bag of some generic dog food at walmart and feeds the dog that way. I have no idea why some are trying to solve a problem that doesn't exist.

I may have exaggerated slightly, but a bag of generic dog food really is something like $13.99 at walmart (in the US), no idea if it's 50lbs, but it's a huge bag that most people wouldn't be able to lift off the ground.

$14 will get you a 16 lb bag. If you can't lift that off the ground you got more problems than how you're going to feed a dog. |

$19.99 for PURINA (a brand name product) for 32lb bag, generic brand is close to half price, so 40 or 50lb bag really is $13.99 in stores.

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Ol-Roy-Ba...50-Lb/38026153 It's only $20 for a huge bag that most dogs wouldn't be able to eat in a month, so if someone can't scrape together $20 to feed their dogs, I'm not sure what to tell them, but dog ownership might not be for them.

I don't understand your logic. He would have other expenses besides his and his dog's food. Should he be allowed to buy everything that he needs on food stamp program then?

I'm for it if they
1 cut out allowing ebt cards to be used at fast food places 2. make sure the recipient doesn't have the latest iphone/android . Cheaper to feed fido

Stop inventing things.
America is irrelevant to my suggestion. It (you should not get a dog if you have no money the next month you gte fired) applies to any country in the world. But continue inventing "America" every time you quote me, you looney |

If I work at a company 30 years and it goes out of business and I need food stamps for food while I look for a new job you think my dog should be taken away you are complete fucking moron. The majority of people on food stamps have a job. 40% of food stamp recipents have no job. You're not American. You've never been to America. mineistaken is right, you shouldn't get a dog unless you are in a pretty stable financial position. If you are in a such a weak financial position that losing a job would result in you not being able to afford $10-$20 bag of dog food for a few months, then clearly getting a dog is not a good idea.

I love how poor people should just die in some people's opinion.
Being poor can happen to anyone! There is a guy on here who was homeless, also a veteran, and now he is doing fine. He was the same guy all along, a hardworking person. He just had a difficult patch. Many poor people are WORKING POOR. Also, having a dog has health benefits, look it up yourselves, do you want these poor people to have less health? Then you'd say they were a drain on taxes for healthcare. Poor people happen, and many of them are good people. MOST very rich people are total slimeballs. I know who I'd want around me if I had to choose, and I bet I deal with more rich powerful people than any 10 of you fuckers put together. You think poor people shouldn't have pets, they shouldn't drink, they should be content with their shitty food and shitty lives, and not get sick or just die? Consider this - somewhere in your recent ancestry there was a poor person. They didn't take your stupid advice, and they lived and now you're here. I realize that's not a very strong argument - we're using your existence as if it was somehow a benefit - but it should at least give you reason to think. I've never been homeless, but based on the way they're treated I'm not sure I'd survive it. Thank goodness MS did. |

I have less issue with someone on food stamps or some sort of food assistance using it to buy dog/cat food than with some of the shit they're allowed to buy.
Also, maybe this would be an incentive for them to keep their animal vs. dumping it when they fall on hard times.
