The GOP has declared our industry a "national health crisis". Big corps now get to make the rules...does this mean porn gets "turned off"? Do brick-and-mortars and DVD's make a resurgence?

It's gonna get interesting...

Good, fuck government regulations. Now, they just need to remove those other government regulations that give cable/ISP companies regional monopolies and we'll be all set.

They will start blocking torrents now. The down side is they will eventually block everyone except the 1% that can afford to pay to use the ISP'S pipes.

Fuckin sux. Hollywood wins once again.

So, only the 1% will be able to afford internet, now? The ISP's are just going to completely ignore 99% of potential customers? Come on..

Ending net neutrality (a socialist endeavor) is a step in the right direction. They need to keep deregulating in the ISP/cable space, though. This will allow for competition, which is the driving force of innovation, better pricing, service, support, etc..

So, when some major ISP starts catering to only the 1%, other opportunity-seekers (business owners) will see a massive opportunity to address economic demand. This fact alone will prevent said ISP corp from acting against the interest of consumers.

The right isn't for deregulation, thats talk for the simple masses. What they want is deregulation to help their benefactors. The big isp's pay big lobbying dollars to stop small govs to offer internet which is faster and cheaper. They don't want a free market they want a closed market. The way it hurts small biz owners ,you sell whatever but so does amazon. They pay to be in the fast lane and you lose customers because you are in the slow lane.

Also they now can say you want access to adult content you now have to pay $50 more a month.

Your mind is fucked.

"This fact alone will prevent said ISP corp from acting against the interest of consumers."

You must not live in America. ISP's were blocking others platforms & services, ignoring consumer demand, then net neutrality began and all that stopped, now net neutrality is repealed, so the games will Begin Again and certain sites and certain platforms will be slower or free or cost more depending on your ISP.

I can't believe you don't know these basics that's true fucking ignorance right there on your part. No offense

Answer these questions honestly and you will now what the future holds:

How many choices do we, the consumers, have for cable tv providers?
How many choices do we, the consumers, have for gas?
How many choices do we, the consumers, have for electricity?
How many choices do we, the consumers, have in terms of local stores vs. the big box stores?
How many choices do we, the consumers, have for mobile phone service?

The answer to ALL of these questions is: slim to none. At MOST we may have 3-4 "big guys" who control and dominate the space. They never, ever let "the little guy" into the club. This is what will happen with net neutrality. The economy will never be the same.

Ask yourself this: where is the alternative to Amazon? To Google? To Apple? To Uber? To Skype? To eBay? To PayPal....you get the idea (or should). No one on this board (or extremely few) are Walmart, Amazon, etc.

So, how long until Disney influences ISPs to throttle porn sites because they're an abomination on society? Will they even allow the rich places to pay or just shut them all down like Google did with adult advertising on adwords?

Only the 1% will be able to Produce content for the internet. The ISP'S can now charge fees to stream your videos to your customers. The average person will not be able to afford this privilege.

The Govt has just given a monopoly of the entire internet to the ISP'S today and its awful.

This is a big deal, especially among young voters who understand the potential ramifications of this. I have a feeling they will punish the Republicans next year.

Also, it isn't over. There will be lawsuits and we can hope that the courts are less corrupt and more willing to listen to the people.

Does this not mean that whoever provides unlimited access at the fastest speeds and lowest price wins more of the customers? Maybe some new player will enter the field and snatch the market.

No you idiot

You must not be American. Before Net Neutrality the big providers were blocking services and platforms from other providers.

Now that net neutrality has been repealed they're going to do it again. This is why some providers are offering free Netflix or free HBO because the other providers are going to try to throttle the service or platform. So now what you get is consumers forced to use a mobile service or ISP that doesn't throttle their favorite platform. Complete bullshit! We are fucked.

You really shouldn't post about topics of which you have not the most basic knowledge of you just make yourself look like a complete moron. The fact that this has to be explained to you after net neutrality is repealed does your complete ignorance of the topic. No offense

Yeah, and those ISP's aren't weren't/aren't acting in a free market. Duh. Your beloved government issues them territorial monopolies. The solution isn't more fucking government. My god.

The government created a problem by issuing these companies monopolies. So, your solution is to use that same government to fix the problem they created in the first place?

All bullshit speculation. I'm going to set a reminder on my phone with this URL and your post # in 3 years and we'll see if the sky has fallen and 99% of us can't afford to upload content on the internet anymore.

Net neutrality was internet socialism. Internet is a service, not a fucking right or a public utility.

The fallout from this decision will be fast and furious. We spoiled Americans have become used to getting what we want INSTANTLY and virtually for free.

Now? How will the masses, especially the ultra-spoiled Millenials, react when this happens:

* Their "user experience" diminishes, site by site, as their favorites they bookmarked slow down, take forever to load or disappear altogether.

* They pay more for what they are used to getting now

It won't be like health care with its' numerous charges and confusing bills. Internet access and user experience are pretty simple. Their bill goes UP and their experience goes DOWN. Will it stand?

Look, I know.. It's a complex issue and hard to wrap your head around.

Here's a protip for the simpletons: If you ever need to know what position you should support, just visit HuffingtonPost.com and pretend it's opposite day:

Socialists notoriously lack understanding in economics. Combine that with the fact that they love to force other people to pay for things they want at the barrel of the state gun, you can be fairly certain that the antithesis of their claims are the right ones to go with.

Amazon? What is the alternative to Amazon? Um, pretty much any online store out there.

Apple? I don't even use Apple so..... I guess there are alternatives for Apple.

Uber? I can start with Lyft, and then remind you every city has dozens of alternative with local cabs.

Sure - one player is 95% and all the others make up 5%. The cool kids will go with the 5% - like using Firefox over IE back in the day. But the masses will see a difference and go get their fast internet...where?

If you own websites and are not concerned about how all this will play out then that tells me you are either a troll on this board or are an employee, not an owner. Name a single thing Trump & Co. has ever done to help average people and I may change my mind (but I doubt it).

Way to counter debate using well thought out facts. Oh wait, it's just more middle-school insults from Braindead Fred

Exactly. Pre-2015. Oh no! That's crazy! LOL! The clueless libs don't realize that the tech giants (Google, Apple, Facebook, etc) helped write the Net Neutrality rules- and MADE THEMSELVES EXEMPT so they can censor their competition.

Try getting some facts, clueless libs

Nothing will happen for a while but it WILL happen its the old boiling a frog thing...

Overall I think its very bad for consumers BUT it could be a HUGE boon for porners....the people who stand to get hurt the most and the quickest will be the tubesites followed by file lockers and the like....medium to long term this could be a stake in the heart of MindGeek

People, calm down. Your internet is going to stay exactly the same!

The only difference you'll notice (and you may not even notice) is that your internet bill of, say $50 per month, will simply go up to like $250 per month.

What's the big deal? You buncha crybabies. If you don't like that, you're racist to Ajit Pai. There's simply no other explanation.

I know right?! I got notice two months ago that my bill would be going up in January, as Cox Communications anticipated net neutrality being destroyed. So now I'll be paying the same for internet as I used to pay for a complete internet cable and phone bundle last year!

Fuck net neutrality and fuck are you fucking idiots who pretend like it's good to pay more you fucking idiots

Oh man Cox is like the WORST provider in the entire country! I feel sorry for you now. And you are 100% correct - anyone saying this is good are the same idiots who practically begged Congress to repeal Obamacare and take away their own healthcare. LOL

These are the same geniuses who rail against Social Security but conveniently forget that half their families are on SSI. It's kind of amazing how some people consistently vote against their own best interests.
