With the current transaction backlog you'll need to pay some fairly hefty fees to get your tiny amount into the blockchain. Test transactions with low fees don't work any more.

That would explain why nothing shows up. Does that mean its at the end of a very long queue or lost forever?

Miners get to pick and choose which transactions they will incorporate into the next block solution they find, which generally means they'll choose the set of transactions which makes them the highest total fees.
