Namecheap is not reseller of Enom anymore!

It was about time! Probably a registrar with the best support out there.

Quote:
To our Valued Namecheap Customers,

Your domain name is currently registered through Namecheap as a reseller of Enom. Namecheap has recently decided to use its direct ICANN registrar accreditation for all new domain registrations, renewals and transfers, and transfer all existing Namecheap-managed domain registrations from Enom?s sponsorship to Namecheap's own credential.

In accordance with ICANN policy, we are required to notify you regarding this transition.

Your domain expiration date, nameservers and all other settings will remain exactly as they are currently configured, and all information on your Whois record will remain unchanged except that the sponsoring registrar will be changed from "Enom LLC" to "Namecheap Inc." As before, you will have the ability to manage your Namecheap domain(s) via the Account Panel. Further, all other Verisign and ICANN domain transfer rules and policies applicable to your registrations will remain in effect. No action is required on your part in connection with this transition.

If you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact Namecheap Support at Namecheap Support | Search Knowledge Base - Namecheap.Com. Namecheap representatives will be there to provide timely answers and guidance.

We look forward to continuing serving you.

There is none. In fact, if namecheap goes bananas, you will have trouble with getting your domains out as they are no longer under enom.

I thought similar, but OP sounded as if it was some positive thing for us (It is/may be positive for namecheap itself, but not sure if he meant it solely that way, would be kind of unusual cheer if only from NC point of view).

Well let me put this way - if namecheap goes bananas now, you get screwed.
If enom goes bananas, then you are safe as namecheap moved away from there.
One of the reasons why they were keeping it in enom beacuse they wanted to give customers feeling of extra security after what happened with registerfly(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RegisterFly) scandal.

They serve purpose but they are not competitive against namesilo.com and name.com which are much cheaper.

Lame ass cart system there. 500 errors when you try to renew 25 domains at once.

Same. No issues here with NameCheap.

Seems like every few years there's a new "it" registrar that everyone jumps ship to.
Not saying NameSilo or any other is bad. Rather, most do the jobs registrars are supposed to do with only a few bad apples here and there.

On name.com 9.25$, namesilo.com is few cents cheaper but they dont have fancy features as name.com have it so i stick with name.com.
And both name.com and namesilo.com have free whois.

Well it's not like it's rocket science, you need to suffer from special kind of stupid to fuck it up .
I was thinking about re-selling domains too but as it's only few cents profit per domain it's not really attractive business for me.

Pretty much the same price I pay then (I have a slightly better deal than list prices).

Thanks for info btw
