Tesla All-Electric Semi Truck

Tesla to unveil their all-electric semi Truck this Thursday at 8pm.

If its a success (you know it will be), Autonomous Electric Semi's will be just around the corner.

There are roughly 5-6 million people in the US who are professional drivers (truck drivers, uber, taxies, delivery drivers etc.). If I were young and in that field I would enroll in college tomorrow looking for a new profession.

hello? anyone there? https://www.cnbc.com/2017/04/05/tesl...than-ford.html

Tesla's stock price surged on Monday, pushing the company's value above $50 billion for the first time. The markets now value Tesla more highly than Ford at $45 billion.
At first glance, that doesn't make any sense. Ford sold 2.6 million vehicles in 2016 and earned $4.6 billion for the year. Tesla shipped a comparatively tiny 76,000 vehicles and recorded a loss of $675 million.

Musk has said himself that fully autonomous vehicles, will be a very long way off. It's not the tech that will take a long time, it's the roads are in such shit shape. As long as we have Republicans in power who want to cut taxes then it means even less money for road upgrades that would be needed.

That's great. No more air pollution! No more global warming! Earth is saved.

I know, I know. They'll have to burn 1000x more coal to generate all the needed electricity. And electricity will become 100x more expensive. Well, so fucking what? If I need more money to pay bills, I'll just become a truck driver.

It is only a matter of time before the USA goes green...there is no truly green tech but there is stuff like solar that does not pollute every day like coal, but pollutes only once, during production, and can be used for decades...

Now the problem with the USA is lobbying...you can legally buy more " democracy" and if you are the coal and oil lobby then this is very very convenient indeed...

10mil driving jobs in the USA gone in 10 years for sure...trickle up tech is so hot right now LOL

Wait until they self mine coal. Adapt or die. None of this as an idea is new, I have no idea why people think new tech kills jobs?

Here is a real picture of it. No sleeper on it, so it seems it designed to be a day cab local truck for short hauls. Needs much better mirrors and extra mirrors on the front fenders the way its set up now it would have some serious blind spots.

Interested to see if they have swappable battery packs or some new kind of fast charging. I'm sure they've got some trick to keep these things going.
