They just used Manafort as the means to get to Trump. If during a tiral it is discovered a cop used an illegal means to arrest a subject such as planting evidence or illegal wiretap then how do you think that would play out in court? As in many other cases the charges get thrown out. Then the cop has to answer for his criminal behavior.

No, that is not what I said. I said originally Manafort's illegal activity had nothing to do with Trump. Again, Manafort was under investigation before Trump was running for office and before Manafort was his campaign manager.

Manfort would still be under investigation or charged (or in prison for the rest of his life) even if Trump never ran for President. While Manafort was under investigation, he began to work for Trump.

Stop putting words in my mouth. The original investigation was not political at all; The original investigation started long before Trump ran for office.
