A firm based in Dublin which collects subscriptions from users of a global porn empire clocked up revenues of $427.17 million over two years.

MG Billing Ireland Ltd, a subsidiary of Mindgeek, a Canadian firm that counts Pornhub, Youporn, Redtube and tube8 among its porn sites, clocked up average daily revenues of $585,000 each day in 2015 and 2014.

New accounts showed that pre-tax profits increased by 8.5 per cent to $3.39 million in 2015. Revenues jumped by 20 per cent from $193.38 million in 2014 to $233.79 million in 2015.

The company directors said they considered the result for the year to be satisfactory. They said that the firm will continue to manage these revenues and the costs for other operating companies within the group.

The accounts show that in spite of the large revenues generated in 2015, the amount in corporation tax paid by the firm was only $145,301. This was a result of the combatively low profits that arose from high cost of sales.

The accounts disclosed that in February the firm relocated its control management away from Ireland.

Of course there is, but when you think how much people should be able to make...

It has been estimated that in 2004, the global online adult industry was generating $20 billion, and that had fallen to $10 billion by 2011 because of free sites.

If it wasn't for the free stuff, and some other reasons, the industry should be worth around $50 billion now and heading towards $100 billion with the growth of the internet globally since 2004, increased download speeds, greater acceptance of spending online, and better high definition porn.

And it's not just that the revenue has shrunk, it's less fairly distributed. Furthermore, the individuals and groups that have been hoovering up a greater and greater share of the diminishing revenue haven't been as active as they should have in fighting piracy - in fact they are part of the problem. Nor have they spared a billion or so of their huge profits to promoting porn positivity and combatting junk science advocacy research of opponents of porn. As far as I know, the only thing the likes of Pornhub and Manwin have done in that area is cheesy 'breast cancer awareness' promotions and the like.

If you just include adult men, there is a potential market of over 3 billion worldwide for adult paysites. And we know that nearly every man wants to look at porn almost every day. If it wasn't for piracy and legal restrictions (porn being banned in China, for example), then adult should really be a trillion dollar industry.
