:stop Report: North Korea has miniaturized a nuclear warhead

Washington (CNN)North Korea has taken a major step forward in realizing its goal of becoming a nuclear power, according to a Washington Post report on a confidential US intelligence assessment that concludes Pyongyang has developed a nuclear warhead capable of fitting inside its missiles.

The Washington Post first reported details of the assessment on Tuesday just hours after North Korea threatened 'physical action' in response to punitive sanctions unanimously passed by the United Nations Security Council over the weekend.
"The IC [intelligence community] assesses North Korea has produced nuclear weapons for ballistic missile delivery, to include delivery by ICBM-class missiles," the assessment states, in an excerpt read to The Washington Post.

They've been saying this for years. Nothing new.

Every time new sanctions are approved on North Korea, the U.S. government comes out and pushes this same agenda that NK has nukes already.

In 2012 we expanded sanctions on North Korea. Here's a story on that: U.N. Council to Expand North Korea Sanctions

Here's a story from 2012, right after sanctions imposed, saying North Korea likely already has nuclear warheads

And what's going to happen again, in the next year or so, as happened in 2013, is China & Russia will be found to have been violating the new sanctions. Same cycle every 5-7 year, same storyline. Social engineering

I'm not worried about them shooting a missile at us. Our anti-missile capabilities are pretty damn good so there is a good chance we could shoot it down before it reached us. Even if we couldn't, there would be no mistaking where it came from. Kim Jong-Un might be crazy, but he has to realize if he hits us with a nuke it will be the end of his country.

My worry is that they will give the bomb to some terrorist group that will try to sneak it into the country and explode it.

Trump is our weakest president in U.S. history. The White House is in disarray and severely understaffed.

If there ever was a time for another attack on America, it would be now

My worry is that the USA will false flag a nuke attack on its own soil...after 9/11 American insecurity rose to an all time high and if bush wanted to nuke an unrelated country he could have easily done so...a nuke attack would be perfect for the military industrial complex and a god send...

There's still a chance of Russia & America becoming "allies" if a NK nuke attack gone wrong (false flag) malfunctioned on way to USA and hit China.

China has Putin by his little balls and they work in unison on a lot of things people wouldn't realize. A primer: https://www.lewrockwell.com/2017/07/...sian-alliance/

I think a false flag suitcase nuke or a dirty bomb on US soil is more probable...the military industrial complex would basically get what ever they want...9/11 was a small attack considering the USA dropped 25.000 bombs last year alone...but look at the effect 9/11 had on the USA...it literally never gets old...

A larger attack would be a god send for the military industry that is already too big to fail...I believe in following the money...they have already demonstrated their readiness to flat out lie for example Iraqi WMD and go to war over a lie...

Scary times ahead...

Kim is talking big to impress himself and the people of NK. He needs to be stopped and NK needs to join the modern world and start trading with it. But that might be the end of the ruling regime.

The good thing about nuclear is it can't be used without receiving back the same. Except with a culture that welcomes death.

Does NK have the ability to aim a missile with a guidance system that will take a missile 1,000s of miles?

My other worry, after what Trump said yesterday, is that he will be hot-headed and decide to strike first in an effort to take out NK's nuclear weapons and create a shitstorm that kills a lot of people when diplomacy may have worked better.

Diplomacy may have worked better?

How has diplomacy worked with them over the last 1/2 century to prevent us to getting to this exact moment? It hasn't. How effective was the IAEA and inspections? They weren't. How have sanctions worked? They haven't. At what point did they ever stop threatening Japan, the USA and Korea with an attack? They haven't.

How has their position that they are still locked in a deadly war with the USA and South Korea as a means to justify its insane military, its relentless propaganda, the oppression of the people and its military spending at the direct expense of its people, starving them to death changed in the last 1/2 century? It hasn't.

Do you remember them threatening that if the USA cut off medicine, food and oil in the face of their own belligerence, violation of UN sanctions, violations of treaties and threats of war - that would be also considered an act of war? I do.

it's so odd that people can be so weirdly naive about the problem - one that's been only getting worse for many decades. And one where N Korea continually ignores its treaties, ignores the UN, ignores international law etc all while threatening everyone around them to get them to blackmail them into cowering and backing down and then giving them oil, financial, food and medical aid

it's even odder that people find it acceptable that a country that has been so openly belligerent and hostile and who have NEVER, EVER stopped threatening war since the 50s can now point a working nuke at Seoul or Tokyo or Hawaii etc. or sell a nuke to ISIS and not take that very very seriously.

N Korea is a cancer. It's always been a cancer. ou can only ignore the spread of that cancer for so long before its going to have to be removed.

Well said

China has built up NK as their puppet and China always breaks NK sanctions, always. China uses Russia & NK to do their dirty work. The equivalent would be the U.S. using Canada to do it's cyberwarfare against China and building up Mexico as a nuclear power constantly threatening to blow up China, while we laughingly played mediator

"Diplomacy" basically means do nothing while their missile and nuclear tech improves. What realistic outcome do you expect out of this diplomacy? Why would this time be different, if previous attempts at diplomacy have failed?

I am of the opinion that we need to make 100% certain that we have exhausted all other means before we carry out a military strike. Obviously, if we are in imminent danger that is a different situation. What I don't want to see is Trump deciding, like Bush did with Iraq, that this is a good time for us to strike and take them out, potentially causing chaos and massive loss of life where there may have been other ways forward.

I'm not an expert on what has or has not been done with NK and what could potentially still be done, but I think we owe it to ourselves and those who could be dramatically affected by our actions, to make certain we exhaust all options before turning to a military strike.

I don't know what has been done and what is still left that could be done. I just want to make sure we exhaust all options before striking militarily. If we attack NK there is a strong chance they could potentially kill millions of South Koreans before we could destroy their military. Not to mention the potential other issues with China.

There may come a day when attacking them is the only option. Before we get there, we need to make sure we have tried everything else.
