End of the republicans?
In a thread last year, where I predicted incorrectly that Clinton, who I supported, would squeak out a win over Trump, I asked (I think it was Robbie) if Trump won, would he be able to govern?
Ironically it won't be the Russia nonsense, the protests, the "resistance", the facebook posts, the memes, the liberal disdain, or the media that removes the republicans from all three branches of federal government .... It looks like it will be congress. All my republican friends are disgusted at the legislative failures on the big promises. It is making Trump look inept, and the republicans look like unprepared amateurs who were just obstructionists rather than principled defenders of their ideals. Dissenting opinions welcome. |

No dissent here...
Now that it's time for the GOp to remove it's head from it ass, they're finding it's not so easy to make the transition from cocksucking obstructionists to governing cocksuckers. How do you even do your job if you only know how to be a dickhead who says no to everything?

no problemo...the liberal democrats are even uglier than whatever GOP dysfunction exists. 2016 should have sent this message loud & clear. but with the way the media & hollywood is talking, they think the path back to power is endless bullshit about russians, with a side of race & sex hustling.
watch the dems nominate kamala harris. then call the country racist/sexist again when she goes down in flames. the left is so ugly, they will LOSE SEATS in 2018! & still the liberals will keep the PC whining going & going until the party is replaced by something silicon valley dreams up. how old are the party leaders? 80 something??? GOP 1 party rule as far as the eye can see. |

I think a lot of mainstream Republicans are getting sick and tired of the 'Tea Party' and Trumpism.

Joshua, I agree that the 40% will stay with Trump, but you have to admit the middle, who voted for him after voting for Obama, are wavering.
Look at the poll (I know polls are flawed like 7% where Trump is concerned) that has Joe Biden 15% ahead. If you're a republican, what is your plan to force unity on your party? |

It seems to me like there are two kinds of Republicans right now. There are Republicans that support Trump but don't like the rest of the Republican party and there are those who are just the opposite and they like the party but hate Trump.
If they want to accomplish things they are going to have to reconcile that. |

Trump can't even get Obamacare repealed.
Trump filled a SCOTUS seat stolen from Obama the year before, his biggest accomplishment. Trump is lazy & unfocused: "Let Obamacare fail it will be a lot easier" - Trump 7.18.2017 All those Republicans, at all those Town Halls , will be pissed and wanting political change for stable healthcare without worrying it's going to be taken away. |

No different than Democrats. Which is why I left the Democrat Party and registered as a Libertarian...but voted for Trump in the general election (like millions of Democrats and Libertarians did across the country). Problem for the Democrat Party is...they can't seem to get over losing the election. They are doing nothing but obsessing on trying to get Trump impeached over "Russia". So the only saving grace for the Republican Party will be the Democrats fucking themselves over by not coming out with a strong message of their own. Trump has his message. It's plain and clear: Make America America Great Again. The Republicans have ZERO message. The same Senators who voted to REPEAL ObamaCare in 2015 are now voting NOT to repeal it. The reason? Because they NEVER wanted to repeal it in the first place. They are no different in their corruption than the Democrats. I believe that if the Democrats were working closely with Trump instead of calling him "hitler" every day...they could catch fire with his populist movement. Trump pretty much stands for everything the Democrat Party is SUPPOSED to stand for...the working man and woman. So no...even though the Republicans deserve to be voted out in 2018...I don't think it will happen because the Democrats are making themselves so unappealing to the working class...just like they did in 2016. |

its going to be the same thing, over & over. the polls will say the GOP will lose. then they will win. just like 2016. jon osoff was ahead in the polls. he lost. liberals engage in fairy tales & delusions & fudge statistics to sell lies that they have public support, when dems are at their lowest place in a century. thats a simple fact liberals cannot face. so dont come at me with polls. the GOP is not going to unite. just like the dems did not unite when they were the majority. this will remain a deadlocked congress until the baby boomers get out of the way & gen X maybe has a shot of getting compromises between the parties. its obvious trying to ram laws though 1 side simply does not work. |

Yeah those "corrupt Democrats" making health insurance available to 32 million uninsured Americsns & saving lives, while improving the quality of life for millions of others.
Yeah those corrupt Democrats stealing a SCOTUS seat from the Republicans. You're so brainwashed to your own detriment. You are literally mindless when it comes to politics. No offense |

there is no road to a return to sanity while baby boomers keep running the parties. baby boomers & their divisive toxic 60s uncompromising culture wars have got to go. along with the divisive toxic identity politics of the left, that does nothing but foment hate & bitterness among the public. the country is not racist. but liberals who pull race cards most definitely are. |

There were four things that made Trump stand out from the rest. His plans to build a wall, stop jobs leaving the US to only get the goods sent back to the US to sell and change the trade deals that allow foreign companies to manufacture in the Third World and sell in the First. And free up Washington from the lobbyist. If he does get thrown out or fails, will the voter's vote for a country that's run for the benefit of big business or will they vote for a new beginning? |

Establishment Republicans = walking dead. When they die off, they will not be replaced. The young are pro-Trump and anti-establishment.

to paraphrase: Donald J Trump is no Ronald Reagan.
Regan and Trump have one thing in common: They spoke/speak to the American public like they have a 8th grade education -- I have alway found that offensive. |

The guy talks the way he talks. He is who he is. He's not like Hillary who used a "black" speech pattern when she gave a speech to black leaders. Or a "southern accent" when she was down south. Or a "normal" accent when she was in Washington D.C. That's called "Fake". Trump is real. You may think he's a "real" asshole. But he's real. |

if you skip over all of Bladewire and Thommy's comments, this is perhaps the most civil and sensible discussion on politics that this board has seen in 2017.

A new poll reveals there are more Hillary haters than Trump haters -- and guess what -- they all are not Republicans with red MAGA baseball hats.

(Apologies if this came out giant - what is the html to reduce it?) You can see that people who strongly disapprove of Trump will vote at 61% and people who lean republican and strongly approve of Trump vote at 65% and 72% respectively. This perhaps explains how polls, which try to capture representation rather than enthusiasm, can be so wrong. |

Trump got 3,000,000 less votes than Clinton, that's how many fewer votes he got. The majority voted for Clinton. Clinton had the voter mandate, not Trump.
It's fun now watching Trump destroy the Republican party, he was a lifetime Democrat remember |

The Trump words on Sessions - his first major supporter and his most competent appointment. What to say about that? Can he rectify this or is it a strategy I'm to dumb to see?
Sessions had no choice, as far as I can see. |

Why are you so glad about that?
The US has two conservative parties bought and paid for by the same people. The illusion it's a democracy is still there, take away one of the parties and there's no illusion. |
