You will be able to convert gas car into electrical car, no need to buy new car for that.

You already can do this. People have been converting older gas cars to electric for years. The biggest hold back was the battery systems. In the past people were using golf cart style deep cycle batteries so it was hard to get range out of them. They'd get maybe 30 miles with a bunch of led acid batteries.. Now people are getting 100-200 miles with custom built battery packs.

Now that people have started building their own battery banks similar to Tesla's or simply using battery packs out of wrecked EV cars. The DIY EV scene is very active and advancing a lot.

You're ignoring physics.

A car that ways 3000 pounds requires the same amount of energy to take it up a hill, no matter what the source of the energy is. If your car's an EV, you drain the battery faster. If you're car is gas engine, you drain the gas tank faster. The energy requirement to bring the car to the top of the hill is the same.

The question to ask is what form of energy gets the car to the top of the hill more efficiently. An electric car has about 65% of its energy transferred to its wheels, whereas a gas car is only around 15%.

Finally, what is the COST of getting that car up the hill. Electricity is far cheaper than gasoline.

This depends where you live. If you're in Canada, only 12% comes from coal. You can check this country-by-country here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...ity_production

Mostly False! Most modern countries get their energy from a variety of sources that include solar, wind, geothermal, natural gas, and coal. You can't correctly answer your question with only a True or False.

If you mean the stuff used to make Lithium Ion batteries and other electronics like you have in your smart phones and computers? Of course its bad for the environment, but not nearly as bad as burning gasoline, drilling and spilling of oil, and the damage to the air and water it creates. The batteries in electric cars last for 8 to 10 years and can be recycled after that. You can't say that about gasoline.

I am! Golf carts are electric. If they were gasoline powered, I'd hate them. You know what else I hate? Gasoline-powered leaf blowers. What a fucking stupid invention those are. I'd never buy one.

My masculinity, like my sense of self and individuality, is not tied to what I drive. If you feel like less of a man for driving a pink gold cart with butterfly wings, there is something wrong with you and you could probably do with seeing a shrink.

Just another example of what a fossil you are. Gays have been having children since the beginning only now we don't have to pretend to be straight to do so, which, in turn, doesn't waste the life of a heterosexual partner, etc etc. the fact you need basics explained is just another example of your uselessness in today's world. You just spread negativity, animosity & hate while sticking your ass in the air at more efficient technologies. Make sure to get cremated after you die so there's as little of you left on this planet as possible and you're not taking up space in a grave.

2. I like to be able to go to Home Depot to get stuff
3. Sitting up higher is more comfortable.
4. When my wife shops....she is serious about it.
5. I am completely comfortable with the size and performance of my cock
6. Painting "Free Candy" on the side has done wonders for my dating

I've had the misfortune of finding plastic in the guts of fish and on one occasion several years ago the remains of a plastic bag in the stomach of a moose. I can see first hand the environmental impact and how much pure bullshit "recycling of plastic" is.

To recycle plastic it's chopped up into tiny pellets and transported all over the world. The stuff gets blown by the wind off of transport trucks and trains and it also gets spilled from cargo ships into our waterways. It's become part of our food chain and therefore we're all now digesting the petrochemicals that are used to make plastic.

This "electric car" is pure bullshit.
In order to reduce weight they're made from plastics while the batteries that drive them are ecological nightmares. Plus all the *Rare Earth Minerals* are mined in places like the Congo using child labor in unsafe mines.

By comparison my old gas guzzling classic cars are made out of steel and the earth has no problems absorbing steel. Furthermore we've known the last 30+ years how to deal with the emissions of a gas engine. By the mid 90s the amount of "pollution" that comes out the ass of a car is next to nothing.

So if any of the Green Tech Nazis really want to make the world healthier then they should go after farming, e-waste, genetically modified organisms, planned obsolescence and all the fucking lazy assholes that are always looking for another labor saving trinket instead of doing some hard work.

That's terrible. I see videos on youtube and on TV about the amount of plastic that is everywhere now, especially in the oceans, and its heartbreaking.

I don't think its bullshit. I think the current form of recycling isn't good enough, and I think that many people and companies just don't give a shit and throw their plastic right into the ocean. The situation is awful for sure.

Plastic is used in cars to reduce weight and increase range in both electric AND gasoline-driven cars. Lighter cars use less energy.

Not true. The batteries last for up to 10 years, and can be recycled. Many batteries still retain up to 70% of their storage capacity and can be used to power other things.

Maybe, but blame the mining companies, not the technology.

I'm sure its a beautiful car, but you have to know that your car uses alot more energy, and costs you alot more to run, and pollutes the air alot more, and is alot less effecient overall than a modern care.

Romantic visions of the "old days" and the "old ways were better" and "old cars are better", is pure bullshit. You can appreciate old cars (like I do), but you can't ever say they are better overall.

Exactly how does the earth "absorb" steel? Please include links with your answer.

Time for a science lesson! Modern gasoline cars produce:

- Hydrocarbons, a toxic compound of hydrogen and carbon.
- Nitrogen Oxides (NOx), from burning nitrogen and oxygen
- Carbon Monoxide
- Particulate matter - small particles that create haze in the air that damages lungs.

It gets worse: When the sun shines on this pollution, the Hydrocarbons and NOx produce Ozone. Ozone protects the earth from UV rays when its at the edge of space, but down here it creates smog and makes it harder to breath.

(Here in Montreal, we actually have Ozone alerts).

EV's have no tailpipe and produce none of that.

No one is saying that none of these things are important too. The world has all kinds of problems and all of them need to be addressed. For the purposes of this argument though, you really should try to stay on-topic.

Peace.

Hey cupcake, that mini van also had a carbon footprint when it was new. You are purposely trying to compare apples and oranges while proclaiming one is tbe best with out doubt. When I try to correct your comparison and give them both equal starting points, you then whine about how you know math.

You can buy a used prius just the same as you can buy a used van. You are trying to create a fake narrative just to prove your point, but your point is failed logic as I just showed you. Every year there are new cars and used cars.

Your argument would only hold ground if you were never able to buy a used prius, but the reality is you can, just like you can buy a used mini van. Nothing ever starts out used... unless you think we can stop building cars today and never run out of used ones... your argument is complete nonsense because there will always be new cars and as those new electric and hybrids become the norm, it also becomes the new norm in the used market.

Sports cars are light and gasoline, not 2.3 ton EV crap you charge 1 hour and only at the supercharger.
How much do you think a tank of fuel weighs? (It's 6.3lbs per gallon) you run around on empty? Also the electric motor / transaxle weighs much less than a engine and transmission

ROFL...

"The density of gasoline ranges from 0.71–0.77 kg/L."

So 58 l tank of gas weighs around 45 kg.. horrible like a whale

such a fail

And you are right, the EV "motor" is lighter than a petrol engine, of course .. so the batteries weigh probably over 1 fucking ton

Spicey,

The battery weighs more than a full tank of gas, but the electric motor weighs less than a gasoline engine. You can also remove the gas punp, oil pump, oil cooler, transmission, crank shaft, and a few other things that add weight to a gas car. What you want to do is compare the weight of the whole car, not parts of it.

And yes sports cars are light, and to be clear, we're not talking about sports cars. An EV should not be compared to a sports car anyway. Sports cars, especially exotic ones, don't really have much of an impact on the environment because people drive them less often than regular cars.

To really compare apples to apples, we should only be talking about "daily" cars, like the cars you would take to the grocery store, etc, or whatever car a typical family would drive the most often for typical trips.

Are you completely retarded?

I posted the "specs" with weight of both very similiar vehicles - fast sedans, one EV and the other one petrol.

TESLA model S 100D - 2,300 kg
Alfa Romeo Giulia Q (V6) - 1,524 kg
Alfa Romeo Giulia (2.2 diesel) - 1,374 kg (top speed 230 km/h) - even lighter with diesel LOL

If a petrol engine weighs 300-400 kg and an electric motor is lighter, than it is quite easy math to do, genius.

The fact is that your Tesla is fucking heavy due to the batteries, I believe they are over 1 ton.

BTW .. Your EV needs cooling too - for the batteries.

can you also count your mistery in $

the gulia S need 12 gallon of gasoline on 100 miles in city traffic and around 8 gallons when you drive it (slow) on a highway.

this gasoline on 100 miles is already the DOUBLE price as i would pay when i load the tesla at home on public energy and drive 350 miles with the load.

but in fact i pay nothing because i can either load it with the solar panels for free or drive to the next loading station where the charge is also free (because it is also made from solar)

so the difference between you and me is that you are a spending a lot of money for helping to destroy the planet and i drive for free with green energy - faster (because i am allowed you are not) and more comfortable because the standard equipment is tesla would triple the price of your gulia S.

but i forgot - you are a billionaire who do not have to care the money and the planet.

but what i will never understand ist why you need car with over 500 HP in a country where you are not allowed to drive faster as 55 miles per hour.
do you also own a private formula 1 piste?

Up until 2 years ago my favorite car to drive was a 1970 Mach 1. Because I did a lot of long distance traveling with that machine I'll concede that within city limits is sucked on gas. But on the highways my mileage was comparable to any modern vehicle and on any stretch of road that had a lot of hills it was actually better than most of these modern 4 cylinder plastic cars.

I have an old wet battery from the mid 70s' that still works. (use it for auto shows) Granted I've had to do maintenance on it over the years.

I've also got batteries in my cars that are way older than 10 years and they're still working perfectly.

The fuck I can't

This is where life experience kicks the shit out of "book smarts." If the past was so much "worst" then tell me why the hell everything was so much more damn green when I was a kid than it is today?

I drank from the stream behind my parent's house without a worry but even with all this "Green Technology" most people today would be scared to even wet their hands in it.

Even the food tasted better! When I was young my beef never came from a cow that lived knee deep in its own shit, injected with antibiotics and might have come from China. My garlic was never loaded on a giant cargo ship and transported 10,000 kms and my fruit often grew by the side of the road. Plus my water didn't need to be "bottled"

My parents like most people had only 1 car and it could seat 6 adults. When my mom wanted to go grocery shopping my dad took her and they loaded up the car with enough food for a month and it was a hell of a lot of food. Quite often even my mother's friends would come along too. But otherwise if you didn't have to go some place important the car sat in the driveway and we walked or took our bikes for everything else.

Compared to today I see perfectly healthy young men jump into their car just so they can drive 2 blocks to the corner store. Plus every member of their household has their own car and come monday morning all of them drive alone to work.

All of these problems with the environment are created not by my generation because we had no fear of doing some actual physical labor. These problems were created by the weak lazy wussies of this generation that needs an app to call a taxi. Plus heaven forbid come dinner time they do something more than rip open a plastic bag of food so they can stuff their faces. (We were a lot more physically fit and skinnier too and we didn't need a gym membership)

Plus this generation produces so much fucking garbage that it's beyond pathetic. All this Green Technology bullshit is just a bunch of people trying to figure out how they can continue to produce and consume and be lazy assholes not only at the current levels but even greater ones.

It's your selfish piece of shit generation that brought things to where they are today.

The generation before you cared, they sacrificed, they accepted responsibility. Your generation is selfish, don't give a shit, don't vote, and bitch and moan like a bunch of bitches.

You said in another thread that you don't vote. Now you're an old man close to death and you bitch about the world you created, waxing poetic about the world the generation before you created. You don't vote to change anything, and you're gonna croak leaving you're shit for everyone else to clean up. Good riddance

Yeah, correct, you will never understand it.. We all know that sports cars are only sold in Germany since there are no speed limits on some highways, right? No one buys them outside Germany, cause they can't enjoy them anywhere else..

Then .. same bullshit applies to your Tesla idiot Who needs 250 km/h top speed

Just FYI the speed limit on our highways is 130 km/h.

Dude, his logic is quite strange.. cause in one post he was boasting his Tesla could reach 100 per hour in 2.6 seconds and in another post he doesn't understand why anyone needs a sports car because of speed limits ..like if it was only about the top speed

just for YOUR information i have my tesla in my GERMAN hometown and my swiss home is 10 km from the german border.

so YES I CAN - LEGALLY !!!

but i have also a house in mallorca and a few in thailand (i bought them instead of cars what i can´t use and what are uncomfortable)

i would not yet buy a tesla in mallorca or in thailand but i will as soon as there is sufficient service.

but we both live in different planets - for me you do not sound very happy on yours because you love to unvaluable everything what you don´t have or can´t understand and can´t afford.

for me you are just a big mouth nobody what feels great behind the keyboard.

well on most you have 55 on some 65 70 or 75 and still have more accident deads as a country like germany with NO speed limit.

obviously you are not even able to drive secure with a speed limit of maximum 75 mph.

if you buy an expensive sports car under that circumstances is the same as when you show everybody your big dick but never find a girl who let you fuck.

unworldly idiots!

Allow me to dumb it down for you

The van has the same carbon footprint at 100,000 miles as the Prius does at zero. This includes manufacturing. Get it yet?

And I am not proclaiming anything "the best" Just stating facts lithium mining is devastating to the environment.

In other words,

What I pointed out is beyond dispute and you've become self-defensive over your paradigm. You can be in denial all you want but the fact is that when I was a child the world was absolutely greener and far more lush. But that's because we used stuff like solar clothes dryers. (ie: A clothes line between the porch and the telephone pole)

No, what you pointed out is ridiculous, and made me realize that you can't carry your end of an intelligent conversation or debate on this subject or subjects that contradict your most heartfelt beliefs. This post is yet another example.

I am defending nothing. I am trying to point out the errors that I think you are making, and you are getting mad because you can't prove of your claims. Even stranger, you are getting mad at me. Therefore, there's no point in continuing with you.

I am denying nothing. My claim is that EV's are more efficient and the use of them creates less pollution, or no pollution at all, depending on its source of energy. I can provide links to credible sources to defend my claims and beliefs. You on the other hand cannot, and you're losing your shit over this. Your loss, not mine.

Correct.

So then what is your answer to everything? Set the clock back 75 years on EVERYTHING, or, find ways to make today's appliances and technologies more energy efficient? You know the answer to this. The question is, will you admit it?

I don't think you can, so....

I bet the limited-life-span energy cells aren't too green either. Have they moved away from Lead yet?

Lead acid battery cannot be discharged too deeply. And the Toyota Prius battery (previous generation non-Lithium) stays between 20% to 80% charge. Not 0% to 100%.

It's a fuckign clusterfuck i'm not willing to get involved in. Musk should stick to launching his rockets.
You say morons are posting a clustering of nonsense, then reply saying you don't know about green batteries, lead etc. Why not learn then post? You just ended up being the very nonsense poster you posted complaining about

Hi Geoff,

No thats definitely not true, at least for the electric cars that I know of.

Here's some quick stats:

The Chevy Volt:
Charging time : 4 hours at 220v, or 9 hours at 110v 12 amps
Range: About 65 kilometres on battery.
Technology: Electric motor. Battery & generator drives electric motors to turn the wheels. When battery is depleted, a gasoline engine kicks-in to turn generator to send electricity to electric motor.

Tesla:
Charging time: About 20 minutes to charge to 80% capacity at super-charging stations (Free, Everywhere), or about 8 hours charging at home at 220v 30 amps.
Range: About 400 kilometres on battery.
Technology: Electric motor, no gasoline motor.

Chevy Bolt:
Charging time: About 30 minutes when using a DC Charger, or about 9 hours at 220 Volts.
Range: About 383 km
Technology: Electric only, no gasoline motor.

Damn mother fucking right that's my answer!

People today are fucking weak pathetic candy ass pussies and a return to some good old fashioned hard physical work would do the entire world some good.
  • If people had to go cut ice out of the St. Lawrence for their fridges and carry it home their backs then they wouldn't be standing in front of their fridge with the door open scratching their butts while trying to decided what they want to eat.
  • If people went back to washing their clothes with a washboard they would be taking care of the clothes they have... Instead of buying over-priced crappy ones that they wear only once or not at all before throwing them in the garbage.
  • If people started growing their own food then there wouldn't all that precious fuel/electricity wasted shipping them from China, Mexico, etc.

So Mark if you truly want 100% Green Technology Transportation then I suggest you forget about this electric car and buy a horse. You can even put a bag on its ass and I'll buy the shit from you for my garden.

He's an old man
He's a luddite
He's scared of the technology
He's stuck in his ways

And any other excuse that someone can pull out of their butt to negate me.

But it won't change the facts that what you have today is NOT innovation but a culture of Shopping.

And for the most part it's NOT technology but repackaging of stuff that's already been around for the last 60 years only this time it's cheaper, smaller and will fail within 6 months.

You look at all these gadgets and toys with big eyes and cooing like a child while saying "oh neat - look at what it can do" never once picking your head up to look at the bigger picture. Today's people are weak, pathetically ignorant and haven't produced anything of lasting quality or beauty. Your society is a shithole compared to mine and in 50 years the great divine hard drive in the sky will crash and then the only thing left to remember the people of today will be the toxic e-waste garbage dumps, the dead oceans and the cancerous genetically modified tomato.

Bof, my old made in Detroit steal cars won't melt in the sun on hot summer day.

No one will buy a Ferrari just to be slower and outdated. You can get all excited but they are dinosaurs just waiting to go extinct.

What is so weird, is this is a movement that the Republicans could wholeheartedly endorse. An American made car that reduces the need for foreign oil. Nope, a true conservative will resist all change. Lol. Just amazing.

I love the Tesla...but get real: Elon Musk is the most heavily subsidized man in America lol
Hundreds of billions of dollars of taxpayer money.
I'm pretty sure that Henry Ford didn't need govt. help when he started. (and back then the Federal Govt. knew that their job was to NOT be involved in private business anyway and wouldn't have handed out money to Ford).

Also the United States is no longer dependent on "Foreign Oil". We are now EXPORTING oil.
You know...Fracking...that thing that snowflakes wept about for years?
That already made us energy independent. And we are about to become even MORE of a powerhouse in the energy market thanks to the laws that President Trump signed a few weeks ago during "Energy Week".

I'm sure you didn't hear about it because the mainstream media didn't report it at all. They were too busy talking about Russia.
But I watched the ceremony live on television and listened to the different speeches given at the ceremony.
It was the beginning of an energy revolution in the U.S. that literally changed our energy situation overnight.

Having said all of that: I'm still a big fan of Tesla and do believe that electric cars may be a short term big deal.
I'm still kinda thinking that there is some sort of even better technology that is being cooked up somewhere that will replace both gas and electric cars.
