Can you tell me why millennial are producing less and less children?

What is the reason behind this?

OP, we are now beyond the millennials. The millennial kids are now having their own kids.. The current baby makers are "generation Y" they are the 18 to 20 somethings now..

As for why? Well the latest crop of kids grew up in tough financial times where their millennial parents and some Gen xers never really realized the American dream.

Also the Gen y kids have grown up in a time where our country has never not been at war. The 1st groups of these kids were born just before 9/11 so their entire life our country has been at war and being turned into a police state.

Add in the fact their parents are likely still suffering financial debt for their educations which didn't provide them with good jobs.... well its no wonder they don't want kids..

This is the outcome of war mongering and greed of the 1%. Congrats the Republican dream come true....

more like, man, raising a human being is something important and should not be a half-assed endeavor

if one isn't prepared to put themselves second for minimum 18 years (realistically longer) to fulfill the role they should probably have cats. to me that's a wise choice

i was always afraid to have kids, afraid i wasn't good enough to raise them, afraid there would be time for little else and i am not always perfect and sometimes there is no time for much else but its something i wouldn't trade for anything.

thing is, if we don't have kids...who will? the poorly educated who just don't use protection and end up with them? or the mass litter having foreigners?

I think for one thing, access to the Internet provides the truth - most parents have no free time, are broke and unhappy. When asking someone in person you'll get a different story about how "they wouldn't change a thing"

Free porn, higher food and housing cost relative to income play a roll too.

Another thing, there's so many more fun things to do from fun cars to afforable air travel (relative to income) even video games. I have a few relatives in their baby making years who don't leave their xbox.

To cut a long story short, the whole purpose of the HPV jab (going round the high schools) is to reduce the frequency of women's periods and also to send them into early menopause. They make excuses for you to accept them injections, but they don't tell you the real purpose. The last century saw birth rates that combined with decline in infant mortality and extended life has expanded the world population way out of its normal growth rate. The recent pull back might be an overreaction or a new norm.

They foresee the responsibility into it.

I was always afraid of being too poor to give kids the life they deserved. Now I'm no longer afraid of that. I have plenty of money, and I'm too afraid I'll end up too poor to give myself the life I deserve. Fortunately my wife and I are on the same page, and thus we are not having children. And as such, I can afford whatever the fuck I want... and who gives a shit.

Nah... Our education debt was paid off 20+ years ago... and we're in our 30's and still don't want kids. So, yeah, we still have great jobs... $250+... I don't know what you're smoking. You must be the 1% you're talking about.

The good thing is fewer children means fewer worries about how they will get on in the future. The next generation will be poorer than this one, which is already poorer than the previous one.

There are a few reasons.

1. Less Money - Many Millenials have massive college debt so they can't even afford to buy a house and start a life much less have kids.

2. Birth Control - Now more than ever birth control and birth control education is readily available. Even the people who live in the deep red states where they teach abstinence only as birth control (which never works) now have access to birth control and information.

3. Easy Hookups - When I was 21 if I wanted to meet a woman simply for sex I would have to go to a bar or club, meet her, talk to her, hope she is up for the same thing etc. Now I can just install an app easily find someone. Easy, regular sex leads to fewer relationships.

4. Education - Studies have shown that people with more education have fewer kids. Millenials are the most education generation in the history of the country.

5. Marrying at Older Age - Many Millenials are now waiting longer to get married for a number of reasons. Many couples start having kids not too long after getting married. When they start later they have fewer kids.
