No.

But you certainly cannot give him the credit for it either.

Trump had nothing to do with this. He hasn't passed a single law or budget.

Trump said the job reports are fake throughout his run for president.

Since taking office the jobless rate continues to go down, and Trump brags about.

I think Trump was right, the jobs report is fake and he's manipulating the numbers to his favor, what a lying scumbag he is.

When the workforce participation rates rebound, I will give a President credit. When the people on the public dole or UI actually decline. Not when these BS unemployment numbers come out. Its just a fraud number.

BLS Labor unemployment statistics are only relative in their meaning --
https://www.bls.gov/lau/ <state and local areas.

The unemployment rate of Asian MDs in living in Beverly Hills is maybe 0.0001% and inner city minority youth with no advanced education might be 35%

A larger and larger number of working age persons are not in the statistics -- they are part of the under-the-table casual worker pool.

The Unemployed and Underemployed Involuntarily is a much larger percentage. The unemployment rate was 10% in 2010 today it stands at a little less that half that.

Trump would have to reduce that by half again to 2.4% unemployment in 7 years (<if he lasts that long>) using the same statistical methodology for Trump to have any bragging rights -- don't hold your breath for that to happen

So which is it? Real or fake?

They are fake

Wrong -- they statistics were fake up until January, 20th -- after that if they look good Trump takes credit. If the unemployment rises Trump will try to blame that other guy ... (TODDI) 'the other dude did it' defense.

I never understood the comments about the unemployment rates being fake or wrong. This is the same number we've used to judge unemployment now since I was a child.

Unemployment has been on a downward trend for years now, which was under Obama. Trump has done NOTHING to accomplish this. Let's see where we stand two years from now after Trump passes his budget.

The situation as it stands is:

If someone hates Trump everything he does is wrong.
If someone likes Trump everything he does is right.

Furthermore if you don't read the news you're un-informed but if you do read the news then you're misinformed. The media (including social media) is a race to be first to claim those ratings/hits.

It will be years before we see the effect of a Trump Presidency.

The only way politicians can affect job numbers is by enlarging the public sector.

Public sector jobs do not create wealth they redistribute wealth. Some public sector jobs are necessary.

During the Great Depression FDR created the CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps on Apr 10, 1933) and other public works projects -- my uncle was 19, single and got a job in on of the projects. The TVA is another example: This act of May 18, 1933, created the Tennessee Valley Authority to oversee the construction of dams to control flooding, improve navigation, and create cheap hydroelectric power -- with negligible carbon footprint.

Quote:
Comprehensive Employment and Training Act (CETA) (1973)

In December 1973, in a time of high unemployment and after considerable negotiation with the Nixon administration, Congress enacted the Comprehensive Employment and Training Act (CETA). This legislation consolidated a variety of federal job programs that had been created during the 1960s. Community action programs such as job training, the Job Corps, and the Neighborhood Youth Corps were brought together with programs from the 1962 Manpower Development and Training Act and the Job Opportunities in the Business Sector program. Designed to move program control away from the federal government, CETA designated states and local communities as “prime sponsors” of program activities. Funds flowed to the states in block grants, and local administrative units were given considerable decision-making power over the types of training provided, the groups of individuals served, and the institutions offering training and other services.

The CETA program used two basic strategies for increasing employment of low-wage individuals:
- See more at: Comprehensive Employment and Training Act (CETA) (1973)
However, CETA was an 'emergency' law during times of high employment.

The CCC and the TVA were works projects during the world crisis of the Great Depression

Today, the USA has statistical full employment. In the Euro area there is 9.3% unemployment.

The is no imminent employment emergency in most EU countries -- there are comatose economies that cannot create new economic growth.

Germany 3.9%
Czech Republic 4.4%
France 9.6%
Italy 11.1%

The economy is the USA is rather stagnant or declining in old-line industries.

When people say the unemployment rate is fake they are using the wrong word. What they mean is that it is not exactly accurate. If a person gives up on looking for a job and drops out of the workforce they are no longer counted as being unemployed. In recent years we have seen this number jump. In Jan of 2000 the labor participation rate was around 67% in Jan of 2017 it was around 63%. That is a pretty significant number of people who are no longer working. The unemployment rate also doesn't factor in underemployment. These are people who either working part-time but are actively seeking a full-time job or they are actively seeking a job that pays more.

Gallup factors these things into its unemployment number and with those factored in they calculate the real unemployment rate to be 8.4%.

All of this also doesn't take into consideration what type of jobs are being created. These days most of the jobs being created are lower paying service and retail jobs and not the higher paying manufacturing jobs of the past.

So, the number isn't fake, but it also isn't a 100% accurate reflection of what the unemployment situation really is.
