Yes. The animals themselves and the way they are farmed + transportation are all big contributors to global warming. It's an issue that needs to be addressed.
People can already do their part by buying "Energy Star" or other certified energy efficient devices. If your electricity comes from hydro, solar, wind or nuclear, you're doing ok. If your electricity is coming from coal, you can pressure your local government to explore alternatives. You can even do like Rochard did and install solar panels. A big problem with a shit-ton of waste to be sure. You can help by buying computers from companies that have a good recycle program (Dell, Apple, etc). Airplanes, like busses are already a very efficient way to get people from point A to point B. Being more efficient would be better for the planet and save the companies some money too. Yes. If you need personal transportation, electric cars are the way to go. If you have to buy a gas car, look for a hybride. If you want a super-fast car, get a Tesla Model S. If you want a V8 Sports car like a Camaro or Mustang, go for it. Wait, what? Yes! Go for it. They're super fun to drive, and modern ones don't drink nearly as much gas as they used to, but still deliver 400+hp. I'm green, but fuck I love the new Camaros still. So knock yourself out. Plastic bags will be against the law here starting next year. So, yes. Just buy recycled products. It's bad for you anyway.

They passed this here; I am not sure if it was a county thing or state thing. It's dumb. We go to the store, get plastic bags, and then reuse them - for lunches, picking up dog poo, bike trips, all kinds of things. Now instead I've paid god only knows how much for bags in the past year. They are $1 each. I try to keep them in my Jeep but every now and then I forget them. No worries, however. Our local city passed a law bypassing the plastic ban law so stores can use plastic bags if they wish. So at least we have a source for plastic bags to use.

Mark i want you to read this quotes. What they are calling for is ridiculous. There is no way in hell you gonna eliminate green house gases like they are calling for. To do that you would have to kill off livestock, stop using every type of fertilizer they use for crops, stop cutting down trees just to begin with. Lets say every country meets there goals there is a 90% chance of exceeding 2°C "Limiting warming 1.5°C above pre-industrial by 2100 means that the emissions of greenhouse gases need to be reduced rapidly in the coming years and decades, and brought to zero around mid-century" "The emissions pledge pathway that includes INDCs has aover 90% probability of exceeding 2°C, and only a ?likely? (>66%) chance of remaining below 3°C this century. The current policy pathways have a higher than 99.5% probability of exceeding 2°C." "The IPCC AR5 shows that even starting from emission levels implied by INDCs and current policy projections, 1.5°C and 2°C pathways are still technically feasible." Global Temperatures - Climate Action Tracker Assessment "We continue to rate Canada?s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) ?inadequate.? Under its current policies, Canada will miss both its 2020 pledge and its 2030 NDC targets by a wide margin." Canada - Climate Action Tracker

The Media and Liberals have been teaming up to create one of the best comedy troupes ever created. Move over Second City, you got a new comedy powerhouse to beat. Watching daily meltdowns loaded with ridiculous rhetoric, hyperbole and hypocrisy is just hilarious.
I actually skip my usual afternoon sitcom block these days, and get all my laughs from CNN lately. Maybe Zucker is a genius after all.

I was in Holland and didn't get a plastic bag. They can'toffer them to you, but when you ask you can buy them.
Tesla the solution? But what is the carbon footprint of a Tesla... Imagine 9 billion people will ride them in 2030, the world would look like a coal mine: https://www.wired.com/2016/03/teslas...t-green-think/

ps a) I'm from the UK b) not wanting to spend billions on a cash-grab doesn't mean not wanting to live cleaner, or saying 'fuck the planet' or whatever it is the emotional far-lefties seem to think anyone who doesn't agree with throwing fucktons of money at every problem means. Shift money from weapons to 'green', cut down bureaucratic waste, do xyz... don't just add more shit every time, and cry "I'm smart" - you end up running out of other peoples' money and/or creating situations where people feel their best option is to elect Trump. |
