Will the EU succeed in slowing down piracy, especially on sites like Youtube?

Commission asked to crack down on YouTube, Spotify, Netflix in copyright bill

Quote:
Two groups representing the film and music industry wrote to Jean-Claude Juncker on Monday (11 July) asking the European Commission to crack down on internet companies they say are exploiting artists.

Creative industries and internet companies are bracing themselves for changes to EU copyright law that the executive plans to propose in September.

Songwriters, singers and movie directors and producers signed a letter to Juncker asking him to propose measures that would require YouTube to pay artists more if their works are available on the platform
It will be interesting to see if YT and others are forced to pay for their content.

Youtube's business model is PPC for uploaders

They cannot get the title right to align with the body of their text.

"Obsolete" an Amazon prime documentary <<48 min

UBI (Universal Basic Income) and the post industrial obsolescence of human labor and its renumeration.

My meaning: As humans are replaced by machines, we will have masses of listless humans. Youtube and its genre will occupy the masses' time and create opportunity for some to generate revenue while they cannibalize the copyrights of others. World governments will allow this as a way to control the masses. This may be part of the plan ...

Copyright as we knew it is on life-support. The economic incentive to create for profit will die off. Did Homer collect royalties on his writings? Yet he made the creative effort because?

Paul do you suppose the promotion of homosexuality is a reaction to over population, like cramming rats together and they get crazy as fuck??

Desbrosses said Content ID, YouTube?s system for automatically recognising copyrighted material, ?is not working at all? because it detects published sound recordings but not all copyrighted works.

A Google spokesman said that Content ID ?goes above and beyond what the law requires? and said the system automatically detects 99.5% of all copyright claims for music on YouTube.

YouTube has already paid $3 billion to musicians and is trying to work out arrangements to increase that figure, according to the company.
Seems they don't pay enough, otherwise, artists wouldn't be signing up for the new measures.

Youtube won't put bread on the table.

This is going to be a problem if nothing is done.

Sell pet food?
UBI will ensure funding.
Yeah it's depressing but the trend is obvious.
The only thing that will stop it is social upheaval and revolution.
The likely result of this would be a new dark ages.

a purge is cheaper than UBI...once the machines can produce instead of the people, all "non-elites" will be purged...

That has never worked in the past ^^ just slowed down world growth for a short time. There will be 14 to 20 billion people in another 30 or 50 years.
