Bill Clinton was impeached. He was not convicted.

Quote:
Impeachment is the process by which a legislative body formally levels charges against a high official of government. Impeachment does not necessarily mean removal from office; it is only a formal statement of charges, akin to an indictment in criminal law, and is thus only the first step towards removal. Once an individual is impeached, he or she must then face the possibility of conviction via legislative vote, which then entails the removal of the individual from office.

Bill Clinton was acquitted. Found guilty of nothing. Not guilty. And congress did not vote to impeach.

acquit
[uh-kwit]
verb (used with object), ac·quit·ted, ac·quit·ting.

to relieve from a charge of fault or crime; declare not guilty:
They acquitted him of the crime. The jury acquitted her, but I still think she's guilty.

Impeachment is the leveling of the charges. Charges were formally made, at that point he was impeached. He was not convicted, he was not removed from office, but he most certainly was formally charged and thus he was impeached.

Learn About the Only Two Presidents Accused of High Crimes and Misdemeanors

Only two presidents have been impeached in United States history, and neither was convicted of the charges filed against him. No president has been convicted of the charges filed against him during impeachment proceedings.
The Constitution and Impeachment

Quote:
The Constitution, Article II, Section 4:
The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.
That is quite clear. First someone is impeached, then they are either convicted or acquitted. But either way, they were impeached.

Oh, so Trump has been impeached, because the process has begun, OK 👍😁

CONGRESSMAN AL GREEN CONFIRMS TRUMP IMPEACHMENT ARTICLES NOW BEING DRAFTED

I just wanted the redhats to state what their definition of impeachment was before I broke the news, because then they'd say Trump isn't impeached because he hasn't been removed from office, or found guilty.

Happy Friday!

During the impeachment process you are not "convicted". You are either impeached or not. Impeachment does not mean being removed from office. Clinton wasn't Acquitted; He was impeached.

Clinton was and will be forever an Impeached President. The senate did not find him "gulity" of the articles of impeachement that had been made against him.

Damn dude I thought you were smart I really did? He was impeached by the House of Representatives. Sarah is right, the senate then considers the impeachment and then can formally convict him on charges and remove him from office. He was impeached, he will forever be impeached to you die hard lovers of the man. Sorry. He was not convicted of the crime in which to remove him from office which is the Senate's job after a president is impeached by the house.
