What is your KVS/Mechbunny/Etc average load speed

based on google anlaytics? I'm just trying to get an idea on speed.

My WordPress tube with plugins like:
ultimate seo
super wp-cache
pagination
banner managemet
addthis

does about 5.0 sec load average via google analytics using shared hosting on hostgator

I was not able to get times better than 850ms from a close geo, dedicated box, nginx+Apache, modpagespeed and PHP 5 + CDN with all the onpage speed optimizations possible. So I guess, instead of shared hosting, a VPS + CDN could be very helpful.

get a SSD VPS, its blazing fast.

for static content you could always use CDNs.

5 seconds is too much.,

The script you are using has little to do with the loading speed of your site, be it mechbunny, kvs, wordpress or anything else. The script has done it's work when it's put together the output html and sent it to the output buffer - so in most cases this is like 0,05 seconds unless there's some heavy SQL queries, it does a ton of regex/complex math, or your server is generally bogged down running a backup process or something.

Most of what determines your page loading speed is server settings like cache times and compression, and optimization of your images. Things like minifying js/css are negligable as they might shave off half a kbyte. Using https can also decrease load time by a good bit.

SSD on a website will really only give you more throughput, not make it load faster - IE in a tube environment a regular sata drive might be able to push 500mbits of videos before you start having issues with io wait, whereas an ssd might be able to do well over a gbit (I don't know the exact numbers off the top of my head, just examples)

I would never run a tube site on a shared hosting. Check out your plugins which you are using, because some may slow down your site, make sure you optimization your images and upgrade to VPS.

Happy to help you with a fast hosting solution with great support. Lots of options including VPS with SSDs or HDDs and of course a plethora of dedicated solutions.

What do you mean by a good bit, 20% faster? Why is it faster than http?

He said DEcrease, not INcrease. HTTPS is slower than HTTP.

Shared hosting will always equal slower load times because you are sharing the box with other clients who may be running things that slow down everything. Get a dedi man ASAP.

HTTPS is much faster then http - HTTP vs HTTPS ? Test them both yourself

Also remember to always use Memcached and Varnish if you can, this will help a LOT to make your tube site faster.
