Majority of Advertisers Pull Ads From Sean Hannity's Fox News Show

Sean Hannity Could Leave Fox News If Murdochs Don?t Back Besieged Co-Prez Bill Shine


Companies started pulling advertisements from Sean Hannity?s Fox News show on Wednesday as he continued promoting a conspiracy theory about Democratic National Committee staffer Seth Rich?s death.

Cars.com, the automotive classifieds site, was the first to release a statement on its decision to remove ads.

?The fact that we advertise on a particular program doesn?t mean that we agree or disagree, or support or oppose, the content. We don?t have the ability to influence content at the time we make out advertising purchase. In this case, we?ve been watching closely and have recently made the decision to pull our advertising from Hannity.?

At-home exercise company Peloton followed suit later Wednesday afternoon, saying it decided to pull advertisements from ?Hannity? in response to complaints on Twitter.


Leesa Sleep, an online mattress retailer, became the third advertiser to drop out.

?We adjust our media buying every day and we can confirm that we are no longer advertising on Sean Hannity,? a spokesman said.

Casper, another online mattress retailer, also confirmed it was shifting its Fox News ad buys.

Hannity has been in hot water for continuing to peddle a conspiracy theory linking Rich?s unsolved killing to WikiLeaks. Washington, D.C., police say they they suspect Rich was shot during a robbery attempt while walking in his neighborhood.

There?s no evidence his slaying has anything to do with leaked DNC emails published by WikiLeaks, which U.S. authorities have blamed on Russian hackers.

Fox News retracted its thinly sourced story promoting the conspiracy theory on Tuesday and removed it from its website. But Hannity was still pushing the story on Twitter shortly before the network issued its statement. He later continued promoting the conspiracy on his radio show, which is not affiliated with Fox News, hours later.

?And all you in the liberal media, I am not Fox.com or Fox News.com. I retracted nothing,? he said.

The move by Cars.com and Peloton to pull advertising mimics the start of a massive advertiser boycott that plagued Fox News host Bill O?Reilly, who was unceremoniously ousted from the network last month after after allegations of him sexually harassing female colleagues prompted protests and eventually led more than 50 companies to remove advertising from his show.

Whatever may or may not happen to Hannity remains to be seen, but let's not try to kid ourselves, O'Reilly was fired because sponsors left, not because of his sexual harassment stuff. They covered up years of his harassment then it came out. When it came out he was not fired. The story broke on April 1st, but he wasn't fired until the 19th after some 50 sponsors bailed from his show. After the story broke his ratings actually went up (which says a lot about the type of people watching his show), but when sponsors started to bail on the show that is when talk of him being fired came out.

Fox would have gladly put up with some negative press and weather the storm had the advertisers not left. Money talks.

I disagree, Oreilly would have regained his sponsors or gotten new ones with his views in a matter of weeks. He had the most popular show on tv at 8 pm and they simply couldn't cover them up anymore, the latest victims wouldn't take settlement hush money so they went public and then they were forced to fire him. The others took the cash and went away.

ALso if money talks for Fox, then why did they let their most popular person on the entire network at the time Megyn Kelly leave? It's been confirmed it was simply money to her, she said NBC offered a lot more than Fox would. If money talks, she brought in tons but they wouldn't pay her what NBC offered. Fox is a cable TV channel. They don't have the viewers or the money NBC has. NBC will have Megyn Kelly all over the network, likely on multiple shows so they could afford to pay her a massive amount of money. I also think she was annoyed with Fox because she seemed to have some bad experiences there.

I don't know if Bill could have gotten more sponsors and remained on Fox. These allegations are likely going to follow him for a while. I don't know how long Fox would be willing to pay him big money while not making anything on his show.

When he was murdered, and before any of this became major news...Julian Assange spoke about him in an interview and insinuated that the DNC email leaks came from Seth Rich (who was very upset over Bernie Sanders getting screwed by the DNC in the primary).

Google that stuff up. You'll see just as many MSM articles claiming that the story is "crazy" and "debunked" and has no credibility. But take a minute to read the real facts as they happened.
Now I don't know if they murdered him to stop him or not, that does sound crazy. But then again...I don't put anything past the power brokers in Washington D.C.
They've certainly done far nastier things to much more important people than Seth Rich.

And remember when you see the MSM articles claiming it's just a "conspiracy theory"...there are more facts and an actual crime that was committed in this than there is in the "conspiracy theory" that they have put together about Trump and Russia.

Hi Robbie,

The basic problem is that Sean Hannity presents his opinion as hard news. He doesn't say "My opinion of so-and-so is this", or "I think that this and that is going on". Instead, he says everything he says is fact.

To make things even worse, he doesn't seem to care who he hurts. He's presenting false information to people, and its possible that if one of his viewers is a low-information type of person, they might go nuts and hurt or kill someone.

Hannity is also putting the family of the murdered through hell. Imagine a random tragedy in your family, and then having someone push conspiracy theories about it on TV, again and again, and make money doing it.

In my opinion, Hannity's opinions and theories are dumb, but his hard "news" is downright dangerous.

It's about time that he man-up, apologize, and start being a real journalist. If he won't, then he deserves to lose his advertisers and eventually his job.

He says on the air that he is a talk-show host. Matter of fact he has criticized CNN and MSNBC for having shows that at one time WERE news shows (like Wolf and Anderson's shows on CNN) for now being talk shows pretending to be news.

Assange tweeted about DNC emails and put #SeanRich on the tweet.

Those are the facts that Hannity presented. NOBODY is investigating it. The FBI won't, and has yet to ever even examine the DNC server. The media is taking the word of a third-party company who did "forensics" on the server and declared that they THINK it was Russians.

I do believe Rochard would be calling for immediate impeachment and jail.
There are actual FACTS and actual CRIMES with the story that Hannity reported.
Not made up theories of the Washington Post and NY Times that are then reported as gospel by CNN and MSNBC.

The Bush administration put pressure on Sweden to bring charges against him.

We've already been through this talk before. I showed you that Assange has won numerous journalistic awards for WikiLeaks and was a media DARLING when he went after Republicans.

As for Fox News...they are part of the establishment. I don't know why you can't see that.
Trump is hated by the Republicans. Just go to YouTube and look at video of every Republican leader spewing hate at him during the primaries.
