The Attorney General or senior officials at the Department Of Justice did not attempt to halt the investigation. In fact, the Attorney General was fired by the President for not attempting to halt the investigation. Then the President fired the person conducting the investigation.

This is straight out obstruction of justice. This is exactly what forced Nixon to resign. It is stunning that Trump thought he could do this and get away with it.
