You're an idiot

You're probably not American because out of fear you hide your location in your profile.

In America everyone pools to pay for car insurance, like everyone should pool to pay for healthcare insurance.

If you don't want to subsidize someone's healthcare then never have insurance and pay cash for your medical needs.

Very simple practice and concept for most.

I think there is somewhat of an argument in favor of that, but there is also the problem of our general health being the result of personal choices and thus responsible people having to carry an unfair financial burden.

If a dumbass rides his skateboard off a 20 foot drop and breaks his ankle (and we've all seen this on youtube), isn't there a strong argument that he should have to personally pay for the damage he did to himself?

They've passed their abortion of a bill in the House, but as the bill sits, it's pretty much dead in the water in the Senate. The Senate has many more "moderate" Republicans and not all the fringe lunatics the House has.

Many of these moderate Republicans are not very happy about signing a bill that will make insurance too expense for people not on Medicare in their late 40's to early 60's.. These premiums will be some of the most expensive under Trumpdontcare Health plan..

Did you read your own comment?

"Republicans don't think you should pay for your neighbor's healthcare."

They just passed a bill to subsidize $8 billion in pre existing conditions, which roughly 40% of people in red states have.

So, to recap:

A) Republicans think you should pay for your neighbors healthcare

B) Anyone with insurance is paying for others healthcare AND giving profit to the insurance company.

C) The Senate hasn't passed this bill and they'll change it before voting on it.

Wait until they start to cut off Medicaid if this passes the Senate intact.
Wait until people over 50 get $4K to $10K /per year healthcare insurance premium increases.

Age is now a 'pre-existing' condition wither you are healthy or not.

There will be a lot of out of work congressmen
Hard times in "Trumpland" may be on the way

Obamacare was DOA. Insurers were bailing fast and it was in a death spiral. The politically smart thing to do would be to let it fail and then pick up the pieces. Better to repeal and replace with something that has a better chance at solvency - even of that means less benefits and coverage.

But, the Republicans will surely take heat down the road. Once people have free/subsidized shit (the Democrat playbook), it's politically difficult to take it away.

It's odd seeing politicians happy about having a negative impact on their constituents, you don't see that on the Democratic side, but then again, corporations own the Republicans.

One positive note to all this if it actually goes into law. Many of the Trumpers will die with no insurance.

Wow. If you omit certain things from what you say, you almost look like an intelligent person who knows how insurance actually works.

Look at that. Doesn't it feel good to look smart for one moment in your pathetic existence, even if you weren't directly responsible for it? You're welcome you stupid bitch.

It's the same with this. These idiots all go Rah Rah until it's their insurance that isn't affordable or they get denied treatment because insurance wont cover it. Even then it's always someone else fault.. They will say well Obama messed it all up in the 1st place. Trump tried to save us..

Bullshit.. Obamacare worked fine in states that allowed it to work. It only had issues in Republican run states who tried to make it fail.

what does that have to do with anything? do you think a person should be responsible for consequences of his choices/actions or not?

like Matt 26z pointed out, who should pay for "a dumbass rides his skateboard off a 20 foot drop and breaks his ankle (resulting in $10k in medical bills)"? the person doing the stupid action, or those that didn't participate in the stupid action?

what if he doesn't break his ankle, but instead causes $10k in property damage? who should pay in that case, the person doing the stupid action, or those that didn't participate in the stupid action?

is there any difference between the 2 scenarios? both result in $10k loss to society, should they be treated differently? if so, why?

Then cancel your health insurance and pay cash when something happens.

Cancel your homeowners insurance and pay cash to replace your house if it burns down.

Cancel your car insurance and pay cash to replace your car if it's stolen.

See how insurance works?

Insurance rates factor in stupid people, sick people, etc. Saying you don't want to pay for someone else is stupid because when you have a claim that is more than you ever paid into your insurance YOU are the person being paid for by others.

See how insurance works?

what if he doesn't break his ankle, but instead causes $10k in property damage? who should pay in that case, the person doing the stupid action, or those that didn't participate in the stupid action?

is there any difference between the 2 scenarios? both result in $10k loss to society, should they be treated differently? if so, why?
yes there is a very big difference because health is a right from everyone and nobody can prevent illness or chose how expensive his desease can be.

if you have a house insurance and your house burns down they pay you from the money from this people who have been lucky and don´t have a fire.

same as the roads you are driving on are paid also from people who do not even have a car (but they benefit from the road in another way) you benefit from healthy people around you or have to take care the bodies when they die in front of your garden (because that this are picked up, the society pays for)

that you did not have a working health insurance system for centuries proves that this system is wrong and US is one of the few countries in the world (except some 3rd world countries) where people are stupid enough to complain it.

you would have much more rights to complain spendings (what YOU HAVE TO PAY) what are really not nessecary and what are not in favour of the society. but health is not one of this things.
if you are right you should also not get into a hospital when you are sick because YOU WILL NEVER PAY IT IN YOUR LIFE !!!! if i see it same you, I would say you pay for healthcare but not for a building.

imagin if all this advantages of a society - paid from every individual - no matter if he use it or not are from now on an INVIIDUAL problem, I doubt that you would survive only a fucking day.

It's called insurance. It's no different than car insurance. You can argue that someone's bad driving is going to cost me more money in insurance. I haven't had a car accident in over thirty years; Why should I pay more in car insurance because everyone else drives poorly?

That's how insurance works.

But here is the kicker... If you don't have insurance you drive up the costs for EVERYONE. The problem is when you don't have insurance and suddenly someone passes out and is rushed to the emergency room. They end up with a $21k bill that they can pay. They either fail to pay the bill or end up in bankruptcy, and the hospital loses money. Rinse and repeat and suddenly those of us who are insured are paying to cover those who got healthcare but didn't pay for it. WTF?

This is the entire point of healthcare insurance. If everyone is covered, the costs will go down. We have more people insured now than ever before. Let's see where we stand four years from now with Trumpcare. I am guessing costs will go up, and the amount of people covered will drop "bigly".

This is how society works.

We had a freeway that ran smack through our home town where I live. It was a full freeway and suddenly it turns into downtown USA and dumps everyone on "Main Street". It caused our town to be gridlocked during commute hours. We are a small town, 50k people, and it was seriously causing problems. So they created a "bypass" - which is twenty miles long and included seventeen bridges. It cost hundreds of millions of dollars - hundreds of millions of dollars for a freeway that most people will never use. This was paid for in part with federal tax dollars.

This is how modern society works - we pool our money into one huge pot and work towards the greater good. You might never use that freeway. However, my tax dollars paid for freeways in your area, and my tax dollars have paid for aircraft carriers I will never see in person. That's how it works.

All of us who work in this industry full time should be up in arms about this. Very few of us work for an adult company that has health benefits. Most of us have spouses that have health benefits.

And for those saying I shouldn't have to pay for my neighbor's healthcare.

Who do you think is paying for it when their only healthcare is going to the emergency room and thy can't afford to pay the hospital?

You do as the hospital raises prices so those with insurance can pay for those uninsured who use the emergency room and other services!

How much you wanna bet the new legislation makes health care bills like students loans where you can't bankrupt them and they have to be paid off.
