Trump Backs Down on Threat to Close Down the Government on Demand for Wall Funding

So much for the art of the deal what a fake!

First Mexico was paying for the wall.

Then we're paying for the wall and Mexico might pay us back.

Then "I'm forcing for Congress to pay for the wall or I'll shut down the government"

Now, nothing. What do you think of this latest Donald backtrack?

----

Trump Folding Like a Cheap Suit on Wall Demand ... SAD!

I want to go back to the point I made this weekend, which is that President Trump?s threat to shut the government down and kick people off insurance (by pulling subsidies) if Democrats didn?t agree to fund the wall is just a big time political loser.

I stick to that point. But let?s see what now seems to be happening. President Trump?s advisors are now signaling that Trump plans to back down because he knows he?ll lose. In other words, Mr Winning, Dominating, Make the Best Deals is about to go Low Energy and walk away from a sure loss while trying to pretend it never happened.

Folks on the Hill are saying they don?t think there needs to be shutdown. President Trump?s key advisors and spokespeople are today saying, well, it doesn?t really have to be money for the wall. Anything tied to border security will do.

Let?s not ignore what?s happening here. President Trump?s OMB Director Mulvaney said very clearly: dollar for dollar, you get $1 for Obamacare (actually, one not taken from Obamacare) in exchange for every dollar you give us for the boss?s wall.

And yet, just days later, Trump appears ready to go full low-energy, agreeing to call any money tied to border security or even paperwork a ?wall?, not a ?brick and mortar? wall as Republicans have been explaining today but rather a conceptual ?wall? which is to say, not a wall.

Trump for either a major stumble by going for a shutdown test of wills or an ignominious fold, LOW ENERGY! SAD! and all the rest.

Of course he backed down. He cannot threaten to shut down the government to pay for a wall he promised we wouldn't have to pay for.

Trump is learning how politics works. It's easy to sit up on a stage and say "I am going to this and that" but it's another thing entirely to get these things done. The Republicans own everything and it doesn't seem to be helping them one bit.

Why even threaten to shut down the government over the wall in the first place?

Trump is a 70 year old man that ran for POTUS and got the job.

Trump is not learning anything. Trump knows from losing at healthcare reform that he can't control Congress, so what does he do? He threatens again over the wall nobody wants and loses to Congress again

building the Wall will save the US money in the long run. It will slow down the flow of cheap workers taking Americans jobs and taking those Americans off benefits. Cut crime, cut Health costs, lower rents, etc.

Long term as robots replace workers it will be the best investment the US has made. Already the West is oversupplied with cheap labour.

Simple solution to fund the "Wall", tax all wires going to Mexico from the states by lets say..15%. This will solve two problems, as they are not paying any federal tax most of the time as well.

and it's also a wall we don't need. He's the master of creating solutions for problems we don't have...like corporations being taxed too high and not being able to pollute the environment enough and that stupid fucking wall to make his knuckledragging monogoloid supporters happy.

Last I heard: The Republican led House is holding Obamacare subsidy funding hostage for funding the "wall" on a dollar for dollar basis. correction?

Quote:
GOV?T SHUTDOWN -- THE DYNAMICS: President Donald Trump would like Congress to fund the border wall in the government-funding package this week. The reality is quite simple: Trump needs Democrats to pass a funding measure, and Democrats are opposed to the border wall, so the White House is almost certain to lose this fight. HOW TRUMP CAN GET A WIN: If he settles for an increase in spending on surveillance on the border -- drones and the like. That would allow Trump to say he?s beefing up border security before the wall is built. And it would be a tough thing for Democrats to oppose.
SHUTDOWN WATCH -- PLAYBOOK POWER LIST: The New Guard -- OBAMA IS BACK -- ALEX ISENSTADT on GOP sounding alarms on 2018 -- The New Yorker on STEVE BANNONâ??s time in Hollywood -- Bâ??DAY: Zack Roday - POLITICO

Now it is an imaginary wall. Next up -- the "imaginary armada"

You know the government has ways of tracking money, mexico would be a soft target for the feds. 15% would be cheaper then most "Alt" ways, fuckin goldmine...

"In January 2010, the Kabul office of New Ansari Exchange, Afghanistan's largest hawala money transfer business, was closed following a raid by the Sensitive Investigative Unit, the country's national anti-political corruption unit, allegedly because this company was involved in laundering profits from the illicit opium trade and the moving of cash earned by government allied warlords through extortion and drug trafficking."

Australia has a 2000 mile ocean around it.. and drugs still get in by the tonne

The most effective of walls, won't stop the drugs, just make them "slightly" more difficult to get in.

It hands more power to the cartels because they will find a work around, only the small time dealers will get caught.

And it will raise the price of drugs, so however a drug addict pays for their drugs now.. they will have to do more of it.

I lived under 20 years of sanctions I know how hawala works first hand...you can raid all you want at 5-10% the profits are massive...the drug cartels already have cash flow covered all they need is for red hats to gift them this new lucrative opportunity to make money with drugs AND money remittance while sending it back...

even if it was easy to raid the top of the hawala chain and seize their main honey pot, and it is not, it just leaves the next players in the field with a wide open market...you in no way affect the demand and in no way affect the ability for supply to meet it...

Well said sir

Chump only wants to build a wall so he can put his stupid name on it. He thinks he is leaving a legacy, in fact the only legacy he will leave is one of absolute failure

There will be no wall... maybe a wee fence...same difference... now matter how big a wall is built there will be workarounds.
