American nuclear-powered submarine joins the Vinson Strike Force & Japanese armada

Things are getting serious. Do you think anything will happen or all just chest beating?

US submarine to join aircraft carrier alongside Korea - Business Insider

The USS Michigan, a nuclear-powered submarine armed with guided Tomahawk cruise missiles, will join the USS Carl Vinson aircraft carrier off the Korean peninsula, UPI reports

The Michigan, which is armed with more than 150 Tomahawks, should arrive in the area on Tuesday, the same day that North Korea will commemorate the 85th anniversary of the founding of its army. The Vinson is also expected to be in the area sometime this week.

Some North Korea watchers speculate that the Kim regime may use this occasion to test a nuclear device, which experts say they could do at any time.

North Korean media has already reacted harshly to the Vinson's deployment, calling it "an extremely dangerous act by those who plan a nuclear war to invade," adding that "what's only laid for aggressors is dead bodies."

This would be standard.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carrier_strike_group

Up to two attack submarines, usually of the Los Angeles-class used to screen the strike group against hostile surface ships and submarines, but which also carry Tomahawk missiles for long-range strike capability.

Subs are SOP. They are part of every Carrier Group and normally there are a minimum of two.

As well as in the vicinity of Iran and Russia and a few other hot spots.

The sub hasn't been with the armada and isn't with the strike force yet, but it will be by Tuesday

That simply means there will then be 3 or more subs with this Carrier Group instead of the minimum of two that is SOP.

What are the two other subs with the armada right now?

That link shows subs aren't SOP, rather "A carrier strike group also, on occasion, includes submarines"

You'd think at least one sub would be SOP makes sense to me.

I do not know. What I do know is; Carrier Groups do not go to sea with less that two Nuclear Subs in the Group. Carrier groups are powerful Task Forces that are more powerful in and of themselves than the vast majority of countries on this earth. Only a half dozen or so counties have the kind of power that a Carrier Group possesses.

For whatever the reasons are the link is wrong as is sometimes the case with the source.

I wouldn't be surprised, it makes sense to have a couple subs minimum protecting a fleat of ships.

Usually deployed submarines are not discussed in public. It's very rare that a US Submarine is mentioned like this. It's more to send a message than anything else.
