I don't think we need bases in Syria. It spend money, will be better spent on anti-terrorism protection inside country like in Israel. Chaos in ME give rise oil prices = more money. Durins some time Israel will be hitting Iran etc...
With the many others countries we have land borders + cruise missiles.
We even don't always need airfields
