When I was a kid it was Faces of Death , then I saw real death in real life and then hated the Faces of Death series.

Now it changes every few years and is Sci-Fi and/or mind bending movies with really good plots.

At my core the movies below seem a part of me most

Orlando

HACKERS ~ life changing

Silence of the Lambs

Gothic

Nightbreed

Beaches ~ after I moved to LA

Halloween ~ life changing

Top Gun. Sounds silly now but to a very impressionable fifteen year old boy who was about to drop out of high school it was huge. I wanted to go into the Marines because my father was a Marine, and after Top Gun I was positive I wanted to join the military.

As tacky as it is today it's still one of my all time favorite movies.

I loved Vanilla Sky. It was soooo good but I've now seen it something like 10 times so I'm done with it for a while.

I forgot all about Running Scared. When I watched it I was expecting alot less than what was delivered. Really good.

Other favourite movies:

Contact
Transformers 1 and 3 (Yes I know, fuckoff)
The Island (Yes I know, fuckoff)
Casino
Arrival (2016) (Just watched it again yesterday. Excellent)
Logans Run

I've seen so many good movies in the last few years, but I can't say a movie is my favorite until some time has passed...at least a decade. But these are some movies that when they're on cable, I'll stop and watch (or at least DVR it).

Jaws
Goodfellas
Robocop
Key Largo
LA Confidential
Fight Club
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Saving Private Ryan
The Good, The Bad and the Ugly
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
The Descent
The Road Warrior
Dr Strangelove
It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World
Blazing Saddles
The Big Lebowski

and of course, Road House

I've seen so many it's hard to downsize the range of the films I really liked. Especially with time you get to change the list as of new ones are coming out and not all of them are crap.
If i try to cut the instant moment in order to see what i feel to name those would be:

Only lovers left alive (2013)
Les petits mouchoirs (2010)
Paris (2008)

Stupid people think simplistic movies like Arrival, that pretend to be complex but aren't, are 'clever', therefore anyone bored with it is stupid... It's the contrary, genius

A dog fetches a stick endlessly until he cannot go on anymore.
An adult person will get bored instantly.

Figure out which one you are. Or is that too complex for you too?

Thanks for making my point for me, numbnuts. I said "emotional" intelligence, and since that's a concept you can't even grasp you basically reverted to calling it simplistic. It's a movie about the nature of what it is to be human, and experience something like losing a child (even though you know it's coming) because the time spent with her before she died was worth it. This is something you can't pick up on, because you're a soulless slug that squirms around among the rest of us humans.

I have a feeling you hate everything before you watch it, and you hate it even more afterward.

Robocop! Love this. This was one of the most violent (and funny) movies I had ever seen when it came out.

Fight Club!

It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World - LOVE THIS MOVIE. This has to be one of the best comedies ever made. I'm worried some dork will try to remake this one day. So good.

Blazing Saddles: Of course. Another one of the best comedies ever made.

No dude, no... its really, really good. I thought it was "ok" when I first saw it but when I watched it the second (and third, and fourth..!) time I have really learned to love it. It has a great story, GREAT ending, great action and absolutely stunning visual effects (Search youtube for "Skinny Steve").

It's loaded with easter eggs and answers dozens of questions about the MCU. And I don't know why, but I'm a real sucker for the Peggy Carter character.

Dude come on... we like the movies we like because it makes us happy. So what if you didn't like Arrival? Some like me, liked it, and others like you didn't. No big whoop.

What is your favourite movie btw?

The only one you mention I've seen is The Man from Earth - great movie by the same guy who wrote the old Star Trek episode. The twist ending was a bit predictable, but satisfying.

Gonna check out the others - they all sound good, too.

Thanks Grape. I'll check them all out in the next couple of weeks though I may skip Stake Land as Vampire movies don't really do anything for me.
