Syria chemical attack

Quit your bitchin' you could be trying to survive in Syria.

Quote:
The grief-stricken father cradled his 9-month-old twins, Aya and Ahmed, each in the crook of an arm. Stroking their hair, he choked back tears, mumbling, "Say goodbye, baby, say goodbye" to their lifeless bodies.

Then Abdel Hameed Alyousef took them to a mass grave where 22 members of his family were being buried. Each branch of the clan got its own trench.

More than 80 people, including at least 30 children and 20 women, were killed in the chemical attack on the Syrian town of Khan Sheikhoun early Tuesday, and the toll could still rise. The Alyousef family, one of the town's main clans, was hardest hit. ...

BEIRUT - Syrian activists say the Islamic State group has killed 33 young men in eastern Syria, close to the border with Iraq.

The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says ISIS members slit the throats of the men, aged between 18 and 25, near the town of Mayadeen in Deir el-Zour province on Wednesday.

The group says it?s not clear who the men were and whether they were Syrian troops or rebels. ...

What is happening in Syria is horrible. This country has been ravaged by war since 2011 or so. It seems the vast majority of people want Assad removed, but he controls the military. The military isn't too powerful, but when their military takes on what is really civilians (the "rebels") it's a slaughter. The Syrian military is not powerful on the ground with ground forces, but their air force is what is doing the damage.

There is no American solution to this. Syria is in the Russian sphere of influence; The United States cannot just invade the country. Nor do we want to. There are Syrian and Russian forces in play, plus ISIS, plus a dozen rebel groups - some of which are not friendly to the US.

Our goal should remain the same - strike out at ISIS, and push for removing Assad without taking military action to remove him.

Keep in mind Trump has moved a few thousand US Marines into Syria....

The US wants Asad gone because he does shit like this.. Russia wants to protect him..

How is this the US's fault again that your ally just used chemical weapons on civilians?

You can post that map all you want, but that map is the result of Soviet aggression after WW2. Perhaps we can find a map of all the countries the USSR was funding rebels in the 60s-80's?

That map is a result in the world moving to contain Soviet aggression.. You lost that's what happens when you lose..

Russia has suffered near 600 casualties related to airplanes; the terrorist event in the Sinai and the "loss" of the airplane carrying the Russian Military's Choir. Countless Iranian and Hezbollah grownd troops have died along with a few disclosed Russian military casualties.

Countless Syrian Army and Rebel troops have died.
Many Kurdish Militiamen and Iraqi regular army have died.
Thousands of ISIS terrorists have been killed.

Well over 200K civilians have died.
Millions of civilians have become displaced war refugees.

If that is a victory then I would hate to see what losing is like.

Everyone involved has spent a lot on money and the Islamic Terrorist State lives on.

Probably containment is the only solution. Let the fire burn itself out INSIDE of the fire line. Establish save haven zones for civilians in the area and contain those camps too -- under humanitarian conditions.

Use of poison gas has been a war crime since WW1.

How about it Trump are you up to being a real leader -- the whole world is watching.

I can understand why rebels stay behind to fight, sending their families out of the stronghold to other safe cities, or a refugee settlement.

I can only think, all these years later, the reason any rebels are keeping children in the rubble of stronholds is for PR when they are attacked and gassed. Seeing a babies & children struggle for breath and die has more impact than a male adult rebel fighter.

Honestly, that's why kids are still there right, or am I missing something? I don't blame them if they feel they have to do this as a last resort to gain world support, I wish it wasn't necessary though.

People don't want to abandon their homes and lose the little they have -- they hope for the best but it only gets worse.

Can you imagine what it would be like to leave your home with only what you can carry? They don't rent U-Haul trucks in Syria ...

I put it to you that there is little difference in dying from poison gas or US bombs or crippling sanctions and the "no future" economy your installed puppets leave behind...why pretend that you give 2 shits?

the US media claim somebody used chemical weapons...while I do not dispute that somebody broke the geneva convention (like the USA when it cluster bombed civilians including me) I highly doubt anything at all the US media claims about who actually used the weapons...

Syria is probably already lost. Once a prosperous country gone. Felt bad for it's citizens, and yet some us whines when we have a bad day.

When I was 12 I entered a new reality where my life was in a backpack, everything I knew was gone, no family nothing, a world of complete strangers and trying to get into their head to see what they wanted you to be to create stability with a stranger.

When I was 30 I gave away everything (including my car) and moved my son and I to Oz with 2 carryon bags as all we had +$800 in the bank, plus whatever my weekly site income was then. Basically the same scario when we left Oz back to the U.S. So I can understand losing money, losing all material things, cutting losses and entering a new reality. I'm detached from emotion that way.

I've never been an adult refugee, let alone a refugee with a family, where your new reality is a new city/country where you're likely not wanted and have no money & no work or prospects for work & have to worry about a new diaper in a few hours and no milk for your baby no food in your stomach for over a day and walking for hours with nothing in sight.

The Syria civil war has been going on for over 6 years.

I admire the rebels commitment & decision to put their children in harm's way to stand their ground and possibly sacrificing the most important gift of all in one's life it, shows valor & spirit. It sucks that we live in a world where these kinds of things even have to be considered in this day and age.

Even worse is these people leaving that hell and being gifted a chance at a new productive life in America only to be demonized as a likely terrorist by a new president who wants bottom rung support from hateful people. I feel for them.

where is the outrage for Iraq , since 2003 !!!!!

March 28th 2017 :

Mosul: 112 civilian bodies pulled from site of coalition airstrike

naturally, denied all the first week till it was obvious ...... as usual .

The deaths in Syria are awfull, but you really do not know who did it and the logic points to ISIS ( exploding buildings with chemicals or mortars ) or even ISRAEL !

to the people of vietnam it meant nothing whether their crops grow under the commie or capitalist sun...russia trying to overthrow the establishment meant fuck all to the 95% farmer population...but on the other hand 20 years of war and more bombs than in all world wars combined kinda mattered to them...

they went from communism back to capitalism by themselves...in no way shape or form did the USA do anything positive in vietnam except war monger for its own interests...you also forget to mention that the capitalims of the time was very very different from the capitalism we have today...it was pure gravy train establishment back then so the difference between the commies and capitalists was only in name...

the same goes for every other country you destabilized and invaded...they are worse off after your intervention/invasion/destabilization than they were before...blaming russians for YOUR invasions is kinda silly...claiming crony capitalists played a fair game and did not exploit the living shit out of everybody is also amusing...

there is a reason communism became so popular: capitalism at the time was a mother fucker

Looks like you read the first paragraph of my post, got emotional and fired off a response. I'm on the side of the rebels. I understand the hard life core sacrifices they're making and the hard choices they've made. Its not bad to be honest in saying others have sent their children & or wives away to relative safety over the past 6 years, while they stay to fight.

The ones choosing to stay with their families & children after all these years are making the biggest sacrifice of all and it is their choice.

fuck that Obama should have sent a bunch of cruise missiles thru the window at all Assads residences when he first started using chemical weapons

Trump talked it down first time around now the penny drops and he needs to show some balls and take this guy out

No, I read it all but your personal saga just is not relevant to the war zone. I had a lot of hard times in my younger years too but I never thought of comparing those hard times to being a war refugee.

Faced with abandoning what I have then starting over and picking up a gun and fighting for my home -- I would probably decide, as a man with no family and children, to make my stand.

I can also understand a man sending his family away and then fighting for his home and his human rights.

I can accept the judgment of a man to just leave with his life -- I don't think that as cowardice but just the desire to escape harms way.

As a young man I ended living in the back seat of my car a few times and in retrospect -- it was mainly my own fault -- I wasn't trying to hide from bombs or a hostile army

Not as many as U.S. troops but USSR troops died in both South and North Vietnam. In addition it was the USSR that supplied the North with virtually everything to keep the North alive and in the battle.

Thanks Obama...

Oh wait. Obama deferred to congress because in matters of war because that's what he's supposed to do --- and congress stuck their heads in the sand. They're so inept and inert as a governing body they couldn't even agree to go bomb some Arabs.

no you miss the entire point...it is not about what gave better results at all...of course capitalism won...it is about what gave launch to communism in the first place...and the answer to this is mainly because capitalism, at that point in history, was an exploitative mother fucker...
