Life's too short to hate what you are eating. So if you want to "eat healthy" I suggest figuring out what "health plan" has the foods you like to eat, and follow it.

peeps who focus on what others do waste a lot of energy and time on stuff they can't change that often doesn't affect them. I find it interesting to observe but kinda pointless in practice. empty calories for the mind haha

I don't eat 'healthy' in terms of balance although the individual foods I eat are healthy. I do my best, I think most peeps do. and people still talk so basically expect judgment no matter what ya do.

to paraphrase an adored peer:

trying to please people is exhausting, pissing them off by just doing you is much more fun

food is just fuel to me and I like real foods that look like what they looked like when they came off the tree, out of the ground, etc. that require no prep, can be eaten cold or room temp and don't feel like a load of lead in my stomach after eating. no sauces and oils and ish, feels awful to me to ingest that stuff.

gonna follow this with some frozen edame and cranberries out of the bag (snacks while I work) and I'll feel great. and no dishes to wash

oh and y'all suck cuz you're not exactly like me btw =p

half the calories, same protein. That's what it's all about....finding foods with high protein and/or volume with low calories.

Seasoned chicken breast, peppers, mushrooms, onions and some Lebanese garlic sauce, each portion is about 600 calories, tastes delicious and takes less than 25 mins to make from scratch.

We also make chicken pot pie, pastas and other variations of chicken breast dinners with a mixture of vegetables.

Yep it's about sustainability and being able to adhere to the healthy lifestyle change. What I found is that if you ONLY diet you are less likely to adhere to the diet but when you go all in and you combine it with goal oriented exercise/lifting, then all of a sudden you don't want to mess up your diet because you want those gains to come in and you don't want to mess up because you're more invested. It's a balancing act between having some rules and being able to bend them within those rules.

This may not sound healthy to some but depending on your goals you might like this:
Take any bread with lots of sesame seeds, toast it, slice up some good quality tomatoes, put it on top of the bread, add some good quality olive oil on top, salt and pepper. So simple yet so good, you may even get addicted.

The second, same with the bread with sesame seeds that is toasted works well and half a properly ripe avocado on top, insanely good, can add salt or whatever else you like. Feels like you're eating a rich butter spread meantime you're getting a ton of micronutrients, yes it has fat but it's healthy fat.

For proteins, like salmon, lamb, chicken, turkey and a thai vegetable mix is a win.

Take any bread you like, slice up some sweet tomatoes, put it on top, add some good quality olive oil on top, salt and pepper. So simple yet so good, you may even get addicted.

Bottom line is...being moderate/average over the long term will be more beneficial than being gung ho/perfect for a short time. Both will get results, but only one way will stick. Most people don't think long haul, and that's why they stay fat.

I've watched my sister in law yo-yo for the 18 years I've known her, and she still does the same stupid shit. She also refuses to ask me for advice...the ripped guy married to her sister who has all the answers for her. All she has to do is ask.

All in one pan. Heat the pan. Butter(only bad'ish thing in here), onions, garlic, salt and pepper. Cook to tender. Add chicken. Cook both sides slightly. Add chopped sweet potatoes(really good for men). Add more salt and pepper. Dump some carrots on top. Cover with lid. Cook for 20-30 minutes.

100% agree.

Yeah it annoys me to bits when people know people who are already successful and don't take their advice. I can say this about many who want to lose weight or stay in shape, most don't take advice really well. It might have to do with them not actually believing they can do it, but they believe in the circle jerk and might just not want it badly enough either. Very annoying. Either lose weight or just move on, but don't be spinning the wheels and failing arggh.

I find women especially have a tendency towards this. I suspect cuz so much of female-oriented culture feeds us this ish (pun intended haha). crazy unsustainable shifts in diet for short term results with the inevitable bounce back

if it's for the sake of vanity it's masochistic

if it's for the sake of health, every recognized study of bmi and female mortality has found that having a higher stable bmi results in longer life span than having great dips and spikes. yo-yo dieting is incredibly unhealthy.

so yeah. frustrating as hell to see when it occurs cuz it's really illogical on all levels. particularly considering that peeps who engage seem to find no enjoyment in any part of the process.

still no need to show that though, I hope you don't. she's doing her best as she knows it and the mind/body thing is a challenge for a lot of peeps. she's probably better than you at something too, none of us are perfect

Same with salmon, why does salmon at resto's always taste better than mine? well it's savory and yummy, cooked in butter or whatever they're adding to make it taste so great.
You only need a tiny bit of oil to cook steak and olive oil is a good option. There are even cooks who don't use oil at all, also depends on what kind of steak.

And butter is actually good too. Also much more delicious than margarine. It just has a lower smoking point, so not always suitable for frying. Butter is no longer considered bad and is much tastier than margarine which is a tasteless shit.

The amount of oil used to make a steak is nothing compared to french fries and other typical fast foods.

BTW - we have a nice restaurant here that will make your stake rare than bring it to you on a special plate with a small heated stone (very hot) so you can actually make every single bit of the meat to your own liking, by frying it on the stone - and with no fat at all. I think they ask like 25€ for that.

That's the thing...it's really not that hard. Everyone I know thinks me being fit is this fleeting state I tenuously hold on to, and that I have to work so hard to keep it. I'll admit it does take some work at first, but once you get here your system becomes armor plated against fat gain. And you can get fit with the moderate approach -- it's just a matter of how long you're willing to wait for results.

I tell people there's a whole list of things to do (or not do), and just take those things from the list which can be worked into their lifestyle without too much burden. Make those things habits and you won't even notice you're doing it. Actually, living a fit lifestyle is incredibly enjoyable for me, and I think most people would find the same thing if they changed the necessary things and gave them a chance to stick. And if someone wants a cupcake, they can fucking eat it if it fits into the daily calorie allotment.
