Well, Paypal as jumped the shark

When people have told me horror stories about Paypal in the past, I have usually gone to their defense, based on my 10 year quiet relationship with them.

That ended today. I got a letter purporting to be an analysis of transactions which required audit and review, including production of a significant amount of documentation, for avoidance of doubt.

I told them I already deal with the IRS, which has the unfortunate mandate to enforce tax law in the US, and for whom my accountant is retained, and I don't need another eye watching over my shoulder. Further, the transactions they had an issue with were in no way illegal.

They would not tell me what I had "done" (though, ironically, the IRS would), but they would tell me that any decision they make is "final".

They seem to have come to believe that they are a governmental organization, or the men in black, or the illuminati.

They gave me a period of two months to satisfy their shadowy compliance department, at which point they will limit my account by not allowing me to close it.

I have now decided to remove all my business, insofar as I am able, from them. I don't mind fees, I don't mind audits, I do mind the constant spying but I can live with it. What can't live with is a business imagining that they have the right to fuck with their customer's income.

They won't give a shit in the short term. It's that long term that counts.

oh they love to that - especially when you ask them why they want to rob you.

here is my story about paypal.

after i told them, that this canīt be correct they closed my account.

it had to be approved (what it was already)
we had to send ALL the papers again and after 10 days the account was open again.

3 days later is was closed again - WHY? it had to be approved !
but we did send the papers already twice - unfortunately this time the british office in london wanted to approve it and we had to send the SAME papers again to london.

2 weeks later the account was open again

3 days later closed - guess why ??? it had to be approved but from another department in london - we had so send the SAME papers again to the other deartement

5 days later we got a mail from this department with the question why we sent the papers our account is already approved and they did not know what they shall approve again...
another week the account was open again...

this is the way they show you NEVER COMPLAIN US !!!!

80% of my income comes through PayPal, it's what I use to send invoices and everyone (I mean everyone) knows them and trusts them.

They've been mostly good to me so far.

Years ago they sent their VP to Phoenix Forum. This was a long long time ago. We spent a lot of time hanging our join pages to work with their system and... After a month they dropped adult.

Fuck them.

I also had problems with those a few years ago. Account has been closed for unexplained reasons. At this time there were about 8.000 euros. It took 6 month to get my money, because of the approvements !!! Since then I never used PayPal for business

That's the point, when they pull that "you have no choice" bullshit. Everyone makes mistakes. Exxon oil rigs, Enron, everyone. They act like they're a fucking government and can't make mistakes.

well, iīve done nothing wrong except asking why i should lose another 10% of the money by changing it from euros in swiss franks and then back again in euros when the money was ORIGINALLY paid in euros.

imagin how often they make money?

someone who have a dollar account pays me in euro and get a shitty rate from them.
1: they made money on changing his dollars to euros
then i get the money and have to pay a fee
2. they get like 3% from me
then i have to change THIS MONEY what is in EUROS on that account in swiss franks EVEN when my german AND my swiiss account can receive euros
3. another 4-5% gone

up to here they made already like 11-12%

and then i have to change this swiss franks BACK in euros (what it was already before)
what cost me again money on exchange

so to ask WHY it must be like that is legit - but as they can not give you a good reason why they rip you off, they close your APPROVED account (where NEVER have been a chargeback or something) just to make you understand that you should not ask just pay.

you where lucky - as for they terms and conditions they can freeze 100% of your money for 12 month and 50% up to 18 month.

when that happend to me i was quite in the start of trafficfabrik and invested a fortune. they froze me 130.000 euros over a periode of nearly 2 month (with always a few days open in between) that is not funny in a start phase.

PP is ridiculous. A few months ago they blocked my account for over 40 days. Reason was suspicious activity (logging from other country ip) But yeah I fucking kinda live in two countries. So they asked me to verify my bank account and send id scan. I did all they asked and even added my debit card and confirmed it. But nothing, null, zero, it was pending for 40 days ("we will review soon" or something, is 40 days "soon"?). I tried to reach them but their contact form is/was broken and could not be sure if they got my messages or not. I tried to call them, but I spent over an hour on phone waiting and listening to stupid melodies till it ate all my 20 pounds and call was dropped. FFS, after 40 days someone reviewed my account and unblocked and they sent me an email that was only saying they are unblocking it, no, no apologies...

Great fucking service. But what can we do, they got the fucking monopoly.

Weird, I do a lot of business in mainstream and have never had anyone complain about not having paypal. Only people who use Paypal anymore are ebay people and apparently the adult industry.

They dont have monopoly, there are other options for accepting credit cards. Also, you could resolve 2 countries problem by using a proxy on your primary country, to which you would connect when you are away. And also, alternative to not using paypal but getting money from paypal users is to use service which cover receiving money with different methods like 2checkout. Ofcourse, it is bigger percentage then but less hassle.

Now if Paypal makes a mistake, as every financial institution I have ever dealt with regularly does, they have no way to allow the customer to participate in the correction of it. I don't care how big or innovative you are or how much market share you have. A bad business model is a bad business model.
