Why Are You Letting Them Steal Your Content?

I was just wondering now adays there are a few options to protect your online content from being shared, stolen , posted on torrent sites, filesharing sites, blogs etc , yet i don't see any megasite taking any action to prevent this.

thanks for those references but that's not the kind of action i was talking about. Instead of chasing legal methods to chase and prosecute pirates why not protect the files so they cannot be shared but unauthorized people in the first place.

visiono, what methods are you talking about? Personally the only thing I can think of would be to add watermarks, but that doesn't really keep it from being stolen per-say.

Keeping right click actions from happening is the only other thing I can think of, but that honestly doesn't do much in the way of keeping people from stealing. But I really have no idea how you could stop the theft, the people stealing will almost always find a way around it. To me the only way to keep people from stealing it is to never upload it to the web in the first place.


For megasites, I am guessing they still gain enough revenue even with the theft, and that most people who are downloading the stolen content would have never paid for it anyway. That's just my

i'm talking about protecting the video files from being played by unauthorized users. together with a specific media player this can be done. this is much easier online then it is in the dvd , media world. yet no adult megasite has implemented this even though you type in the scene name in google and what do you see as first few results? all pirated versions of the scene name you found at say x-art.

Checking that google link, I see a pastebin file that's been removed, and a FHG gallery, which isn't really a problem. Not to say that it couldn't be found.

But what LizardKing was talking about is how DRM has never thwarted piracy, it's only made it harder for the paying user to use their files. The same has gone for the games industry, only paying users get more trouble out of these sorts of protections. Pirates will always find a way around it, which essentially means they'll end up making it easier to pirate than to pay. Ease of use is the name of the game these days which is why netflix is doing well even though you can pirate everything that is on there, it's easier to just pay and get it all in one spot.

Protecting a file by limiting it to a certain player goes straight against any standards. Meaning the user cannot play it on his phone, tv ,or whatever device.

There is no 100% solution to prevent anything from being copied. If you can see it on a computer you can copy it. And if you capture videos with a HD mobile phone from the screen ;-) DRM is expensive and complicated, thats the problem and not really safe, see above...

I built a solution for my sites so no one can run downloaders to get my video streams, seems to be effective until someone starts using screen recorders.

well my idea is simple - got an app which watermarks by floating current watching vid user name watermark. Got a black list for the thefts cards. so when you find your vid stolen , you put the card of the user in black list.
This is general idea around credit cards black list. floating stuff is not great thing to have on your vids so we need developers to make something would show who was that guy and make world wide black list base.

what if content owners band together and go after the biggest pirate sites, one at a time? sue them, take over their domain name, and move on to the next target.

or, if that is too expensive, perhaps band together and agree to not place ads or affiliate content on pirate sites.

i tried to report a site called webcamrecordings dot com to dmca, clearly infringing on copyright and stealing web performances, but was told unless i found myself there was nothing i could do, Piss poor response in my opinion

The ONLY way I know and use is a dilligent person I have, ( found here) who crawls the internet looking for our content and when she finds it she sends and keeps on sending DMCA notices ( and a few other tricks).... She has cleaned up about 70 % of our pirated conttent in the last 6 months. After years dealing with DRM, region codes and other BS... This manual work is the only way to go.

I always link to the original gallery if I use images, I figure it helps them to. I think of it as helping everyone rather than stealing but I guess it is. I need a new camera I guess. ;)

Anti-piracy company like pornguardian.com/ preventing content. For these kind of companies there is work enough.
