But i never had problems in Thailand, stayed there more than 1 year in total.
I would avoid some countries, get your name out of the whois, encrypt your laptop with truecrypt.

So a big (and I mean BIG) lady goes through it and pulls out one of those Freeones thongs. Holds it in the air, looks at me and asks "What is this?!?!" So i just answered, a thong. She got pissed, closed the suitecase (slammed it) and told me to get the hell out lmao.

Another fun time was at CZ customs after the Prague show. I won a dracula Flashlight and only had a carry on. This customs lady opens up my case, grabs out the flashlight and asks me what it is. So I take of the top and show her the little dracula mouth. She touches it, calls another female custom, they both look at it, touch it a bit and aftre 30 seconds you could see on their faces they figured out what it was for. Well, consider this: you have porn website and it is available for visitors from that country where you are visiting. If porn is illegal there, you can be charged for spreading it into that country or in general.

It is very easy to get under another country's laws. For example if I target Adwords ads to USA; I am under US laws regarding those ads and the business I am advertising. Even if I haven't or never will step my foot on US soil. With internet, it is very easy to get involved with another country's laws.

I cross a land border into the USA twice a month, never had one single issue when asked what I do. "Online advertising" is my response, they don't question it much, may ask from time to time how it's going, I say good, they tell me to have a nice day.

It all depends on a lot of factors. A model on your website might have worn a bikini with the national flag of a country that makes it illegal to use such symbols for illicit use and you could be busted. It does not matter when it happened as long as it was less than 10 years ago it could be good for trouble. You could apply for visas in respective countries before traveling to make sure you are not in trouble. They won't issue a visa should you be a persona non grata.

I know one guy, who came to CZ webmaster party with a bag of t-shirts with a logo of some Russian adult webmaster board. The custom officer said that there are too many of them and that guy has to pay a tax like they (t-shirts) are intended for sale. That guy did not agree and started a fight (literally) with Czech customs. In result, he's got kicked buy a bunch of Czech officers, spent a night in a prison and was send out from CZ w/o a right to visit that country for a next year or two

What a dumbass unprofessional custom official. I understand you were just happy to get through but she should be reported. Not her duty to have an opinion about a thong in your luggage. If it's not a thong made out of cocaine that is lol.

Would the visa thing really work? Wouldn't they just bust you when you arrive? Whats stopping them doing that?

Who were the webmasters busted in Asia? Were they operating there or just visiting.

I can understand webmasters that get busted operating in those countries.

US Customs - when you come back from overseas - is the most likely place for an American to have a problem. I've seen people get on "lists" because of adult. Each trip back can become agony. And only after months of letters back and forth, laywer-to-lawyer, with Congressional intervention, is there any hope of getting de-listed.
