I remember a thread here quite a few years back where someone was denied a mortgage because the phone number he used in the application showed up in the whois of adult themed domains.

I did not read the whole thread so not sure if clarified - are you applying for personal credit or for a business credit? If personal - that should not matter.

Isnt Natwest still owned by RBS? RBS is one bank which almost single handedly bankrupt the UK, under Fred Goodwin.

Of course its part nationalized but still Id hate to be with an institution that has a history of irresponsibility.

I have Chase ran a lot thru it and they never asked any questions. Wells Fargo seems better and I use them more though. Chase wouldn't let my debit card spend 100k a day on it when I needed that.

Hmmmm, .... I am scared to go back to Russia, now. If they find out my number is listed with gay sponsors' 2257 pages, I might be in bad trouble.

Thank you poopsie! =)

Bank is making me wait another day!!! It's in underwriting. They wanted to re-confirm a few things but are moving forward.

I don't know what they re-confirmed with him.

They did receive a significant share from the the UK, although, along with all the banks. Considering they we're the largest bank group in the world before the disaster, owning Citizens Financial Group, the 8th largest bank in the United States, & much more.

I'm happy to be with Natwest, and have been for many years, & my partner since he was in his teens

He called me back to ask for some paperwork and then again asked what I do, again I told him sales and marketing, waiting for him to ask what I sell, but he didn't. I am sure a few times I have mentioned to my banker what type of business it is, and I feel like it may be noted on my account.

Can they deny me simply because of my type of business? Is this discrimination? They process my money through their bank and have for 15 years without any issues.
This sort of reminds me of a time way back in '02 or thereabouts, my bank decided they were going to impose a 21 day hold on all my incoming US cheques. Reason: the bank manager found out I was doing business with a local company that was at the time in some legal adult-related hot water. Of course I had been depositing my affiliate cheques for several years by then with no trouble whatsoever, none of which were from that company.

I solved the issue by having my lawyer get her on the phone. After a 5 minute convo well, let's just say the next time I went there she said the hold was no more.

It wasn't long until I took my mortgage and all my banking and savings and RSP's etc out of that bank and moved them to one that was all too happy to take and respect my business.

Interesting. Any girls I have that work in Canada actually do have that same 21 day hold.

I am STILL waiting on my bank, STILL in underwriting. Sooo I guess they aren't flat out telling me no.

They had off yesterday due to the "snow" that we got NONE of.

Yes, some banks have a standard hold policy, some don't. That one I was dealing with didn't, and I went years without a problem. It was only when she (the manager) saw I had deposited some cheques from that one company (which was in the news at the time) that she decided impose the hold. Strange thing is none of that company's cheques were from the US. They were local, and in CANADIAN funds. She was just being a bitch and the only way to punish me was to put the hold on all my USD deposits, which had nothing to do with that company, they were all from programs we all know and loved.... top bucks, flash cash, ARS, ox cash, amateurpages, lightspeed, etc etc. All multi-million dollar companies, no reason at all for a 'hold' on funds.

I believe my lawyer explained to her that she can't arbitrarily punish someone over something she heard in the news, and that if she continued she should expect legal action yadda yadda. She caved like a souffle.

Put it this way; any bank that would refuse you a loan because you're "in adult" doesn't want your business, period. They don't deserve it either. The funny thing is likely well over half of their staffers go home at the end of the day and get off on the very stuff they're looking down their noses at during business hours.

My advice; look for another bank.
