Male Entrepreneurs were Anti-Social Teens

The darker side of entrepreneurs
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-23612822

"To investigate that, a recent study by German and Swedish researchers used data that followed 1,000 Swedish children from one town over 40 years.

They found that, in comparison to people who did not found businesses, entrepreneurs were more likely to have displayed anti-social behaviour in their adolescence.

The sort of behaviour that qualified as anti-social included:

staying out later than allowed
truancy
cheating in exams
getting drunk
smoking marijuana
shoplifting
loitering in town in the evening

But more serious criminal activity was not a predictor of later business flair. "

Funny how most of the list are not actually "anti-social". But, good news for me.

Not sure if getting drunk or smoking marijuana is so terribly anti-social, but in a related article I read that they found a mild correlation between criminal activity in teenagers with later success as entrepreneurs.

i don't see how this study can be real - i went to high school 30 years ago and practically every male friend I had did most or all of those. i did them all except the cheating on exams, it was uncool to do well on exams so nobody cheated. I think 80% of teenaged boys did those things when I was that age and it would be the same today.

Of course it's not. Did you see who made this thread? It's more fabricated bullshit that this moron picks up from around the web only to post it here as facts. This guy has a few screws loose. In fact, I'm really not sure why he is even here other than to post his made up fairy tale stories he believes to be real.

Sounds logical, if you have slight problems with authority, you're not going to work for a boss. If you have serious authority issues something's wrong with your mind and you won't get far in life at all. Not really social related though.

Exactly.

Issues with authority and the willingness to swim against the mainstream. Going to college, getting some degree and working an office career is the socially accepted path to wealth. Dropping out of college, becoming an entrepreneur and working day and night while smoking pot is not.

Believe it or not, it's starting to lean that way more than you think: http://www.mentalhealth.com/dis/p20-pe04.html

Anti-social was first used to describe those years ago who were quiet, shy, keep to themselves... but then the medical professions just realized that was everyone under the age of 18 because they grew up in a generation that realized on smart phones to communicate

now it's viewed as "against society" rather than "not with society"

however that does make more sense if you think about the behaviors of those individuals, one being myself

those people tend to be more "risk takers" rather than conform to the unwritten guide of how to get along in society. my dad was not happy when I picked up and moved to California after I graduated, especially since I had NO JOB and no money. rather, took a gamble as I didn't want to work in an office and start in the mail room and work my way up.

for the most part, these are the individuals you see being loud at a bar, having a more attractive partner, driving nicer cars. they take risks then reward themselves greatly for it -- rather a "normal" person would prefer to seek out a job with security and save money.

Scotty's mad again. I love getting under this cunt's skin. To take that time to write all that out about me? You must think about me on a daily basis. For that, I thank you... cupcake.
