Time for a new Macbook Pro. Anything new?

I've had my macbook pro since 2006 and still runs pretty good. This is my 4th battery and 3rd or 4th charger (they like to die on me), however after buying a new battery online last week, the life is to about an hour at best.

In all honestly, this almost 6 year old laptop runs better than my wifes 3 year old $1200 PC laptop that she rarely uses, so I'm sticking with a Mac regardless

This is something which I'm looking to buy in the next month or so, but should I wait until any new versions of come out? I know some of you guys know your Apple stuff, but I don't follow much of their products outside of iPhones or I always want to buy the latest

I just got the newest 17" with the antiglare screen. Fucker was $2800 but I'm loving it, actually replaced my desktop i7 machine with it.

It stays closed on my desk and I run it thru three widescreen monitors (same setup I had for my pc) and the wireless aluminum keyboard, magic trackpad, and magic mouse. I log into it with my iPad or iPhone if I need to do something quickly or grab some files, and when I head to San Antonio or someplace else I just unplug it from the dock and I have everything I need... I tried a mac mini before and pretty much hated it, but the Macbook Pro changed my mind.

I would wait a little longer the new ones are coming out soon. That will give u an option of the newest model or get the price drop on the model before it.

The 13" model is good, my only problem is the screen is a little small for photoshop work. If you do a lot of PS or other larger screen programs I'd get the 15" at least. Otherwise Apple seems to make the most solid laptops, other than Panasonic at twice the price.

Thats what I figured. I bought this one I have now right when the new models came out before and got a great deal on it, however regretted not spending the extra $300 for the latest model

What are you using for having multiple external monitors ? I haven't been able to find anything reliable that works for a long time. I used usb2vga in the past but would love a better solution. They appeared to have a lot of issues especially around the time Lion just came out

Its funny you think its the PC after complaining of having to get a new battery 4 times on your MAC. Genius. Let me explain something about the MAC/PC Argument. Its the user. Not the machine.

For the mac, go with a macbook pro 15", get the 2.5 ghz i7 cpu as it support 16 gb ram and the rest of them support only 8 gb.

Buy an aftermarket SSD, I put the new vertex4 in mine and it works perfect. You can drop the dvd for an extra harddrive as well if you are hungry for storage

Still use my macbook every day for almost 4 years now. Works perfectly, nothing replaced, ever. A great investment.

I use the mini display port on my 24" monitor in the center, and two Diamond BVU195 adapters for the 22" left and right monitors. Center monitor is at 1920x1200 and the left & right monitors are at 1680x1050. I can detect just the tiniest perception of lag sometimes on the left & right screens, but I do anything that is graphic intensive on the main screen which of course has no lag at all.

Do they typically last that long? Looking back, if you break out my PC laptop purchases and how long they last until I can't bear to use them anymore, I spend about $1k a year on laptops. It really pisses me off.

My macbook was about $1099 or something and I got it in December 2006. Still works, use it about 8=12 hours a day, every day. I replaced the battery about a year ago. I'm wanting a new one but this one still does everything I need and works great.

Damn, first it was me considering an iPhone next upgrade in a few months and now I am thinking about a Mac. What has gotten into me?

dont hate

the batteries themselves have some type of issue, its not the machine. I didn't bother to check any recalls as they had one for the batteries in the older models.

the ones I bought on line were junk and died quickly. usual effect of cheap chinese shit

I've had mine since July of 2006 and use it frequently. Maybe 4-5 times per week for between an hour or 10, but recently been using it to record audio for podcasts and webinars.

People make fun, but in the end, its a quality product that keeps up its value. I can easily sell this online now for probably $500 in a day... not bad for being almost 6 years old

Wait till the new ones come out, should be within the next 2/3 months.

I use my Macbook like 12+ hours a day and never had any problems with it. After I switched to Mac I don't need a desktop anymore. I just connect a monitor and keyboard at the office.
I use it for all my office work, personal stuff and to watch movies and series every night.
One of the best choices I ever made was to switch from Windows PC to Mac

I used ages windows, and now the Macbook pro...

I love it too in the office connect just to the apple monitor and electric (keyboard, mouse connect to monitor) and i can work fast :-)
Dont need to wait "hours" until windows would start...

And in evening I take the Macbook with me and do all personal stuff also without any problems...so 15+ hours a day no prob

At home still have my Windows PC, but donīt use it so much - itīs not a Mac
