How would you earn 1000$ from a single porn video? (business thread)

Lets say you have your own shot porn video (exclusive). How would you monetize it?

I would start the thread:
1. Put it up on clips4sale and similar (although I read that you could barely earn 50$ long term from one video..)
2. Create a site on sex key or similar network and promote that "mini site" via your blogs, sites.
3. Sell this video non exclusively to content buyers, brokers. Would that make sense?

What would you do?

If you only earn $50.00 for an exclusive scene, you are doing something wrong.

1. Either you did not do proper research on the niche you are shooting.
2. You did not shoot it correctly to cater to the niche you are shooting.
3. You did not promote the clip correctly to the target market via description/traffic.
4. The models look like $2 whores.

You could easily make $1000.00 from a single quality scene over time and monetizing it across all of the different sales channels. 1st run, 2nd run, licensing, pay sites, VoD, etc..

However, this requires knowing you market and target well, including putting in the work.

one porn video and you awnt to earn thousands?

ya right!

It better be a video of one the Jersey Shore Girls or something.

Even a single video wont fly on clips4sale thats not enough to open a store

My advice, return to your day job and chalk it up to experience...you might get 500 bucks selling it to homegrown....beyond that yer dreaming

First - ONE thousand, not thousands. And one thousand is not much, most content shooters would not get out of the bed for 1000$ income (not even profit, you have to pay model etc) for a scene.

Second -

Sometimes Rob and that guy from Louisiana come on here and sell out over 1k in a few hours. Clearly not everyone can do that. They do good work and have built up a rep over time.

1 - upload high quality trailers everywhere with watermark to site & great description.

2 - embed full high quality video on site, sell various ad spaces on site through ad brokers.

What does it look like?

Depending on what it is you may have to whore it out cheap to anyone who will buy it, or you can find one buyer and sell it for $1000+. It really depends what it is, who is in it, and how well it's shot.

When I was a content producer I made like $300 on initial sales of some of my better exgf/amateur style vids just running it down my short list of past buyers. I was only paying the girls about $50 per vid and having them do like 5 at a time. And honestly I didn't spend much time finding more buyers since I was decently profitable at that point.

I could easily imagine pulling over $1000 a video in the long term without too much effort...

Part of owning the content is that you can keep monetizing it forever pretty much. So if I can make a decent profit right away, I am almost guaranteed to find more buyers over the next few months who would buy stuff I am shooting now, so its just more money coming in.

We shoot 5-8 scenes (depending on niche) for $150-250.00 per girl for the day.

It can be done champ. It sounds like you need to think outside the box.

We only shoot G/G, fetish and softcore typically.

However, we have shot some nude and clam diving in the past. Those are $250.00 per girl for the day, and we shoot the standard number of scenes for that amount. I live in a college town, so there are plenty of women who want easy money.

Exactly.

We can shoot 20-30 G/G scenes in a month, and make ALL of that money back within 30 days of release on clips4sale (this would be 1st release, not re-run money). You then would make money on memberships, re-run the content, after some time you can license it to others, V.O.D., etc. and so on.

It's like the gift that keeps on giving.

Well the first thing would be to adjust the target to a more reasonable level. Only making $1,000 from a video is not very good. I made twice that from a solo girl video, with your help Damian.

Or according to a lot of people. Stats is the most important thing to know.

It doesn't matter what I, BF, Peace or Madalton will do. All that matters is what youcan do. Photoshop comes with a Users Manual, Help tool, there are many forums that discuss how to use it and even I can put a banner together. Doesn't mean I can earn money as a designer.

Shooting content isn't about having a camera and knowing how to use it. It's about, finding a model who will do as you want and know what you want them to do first and foremost. There is no Help tool, no forum, no Users Manual to tell you how to find a model, get them to do as you need them to and to teach you what to make them do.

There are more failures than winners in the content producing game than anything else in porn. What man wouldn't like to make a $1,000 spending an afternoon with a hot female? The problem is most burn a $1,000. Lap dancers are cheaper.

The list of failures are long and we've seen them come and go here. Those left are the winners.

If you really want any decent advice, we need to see where you are starting from, show us something to base advice on please.

So he's been here the best of 4 years and asks this question now?

Here's the only answer that's going to help and it's all questions.

Who are you planning shooting?
Where are you planning shooting?
What are you planning shooting? Niches, style, content, time frame, etc.
What experience do you have shooting?
What experience do you have shooting porn?
If you're shooting a friend, what are their feelings and your relationship?
If not please answer the following.

How would you deal with a model who wanted to do it their way and not yours?
How would you deal with a shy model?
How would you deal with a scared model?
How would you deal with a model who wants to bring a friend?
How wold you deal in that friend thought they were in charge?
How would you deal with a model who thins you're a dirty old man, even if you're young?
How would you deal with a model who thinks all guys want to do is fuck her.
How would you deal with a model who's so insecure she's worried you're not attracted to her?
How would you deal with a model who fakes it badly?
How would you deal with an experienced model who realises you're some newbie and just goes through the motions?

All these things can come up when dealing with people. A camera has a users manual you can turn to before you use it. People don't come with such a tool. You have to learn as you go along. Lie the rest of us did.

I have nothing to lose if you shoot or not.

I am not asking advice on how to shoot content, I am asking advice on how to monetize the content.
Answer should be straight forward, like few people already mentioned, examples of good answers to original question:

Answer should be straight forward, like few people already mentioned, examples of good answers to original question:

Not looking for content shooting advice
So my advice is go find someone who has a clue how to shoot a scene worth $1,000 in profit. Remember these guys are the winners giving you advice, for everyone of them there were 5 losers who didn't have a clue.

Let me rephrase the question special for you:

When I get that scene worth 1000$ of profit how should I go about getting those 1000$?

clips4sale, vod, content brokering etc etc?

Do you finally understand the question?

Yes I do.

When you finally get the content worth $1,000 come back and show it to us and ten we will tell you how to make the $1,000.

Asking this question is so wrong in so many ways.

Would you know how to create a scene worth this amount?

Would you know how to recognise a scene worth this amount?

Do you think anyone doing this is going to give you the keys to their safe?

I've been in this business longer than most and contrary to what the trolls post, made a fair bit of money creating and selling content. Today I can look at a girl, chat to her and make an educated guess if I could create a scene with her worth $1,000 profit. 34 years ago I didn't have a clue. It took some years before I could make that decision often enough to not bother.

30 years ago this business was a goldmine for those who could shoot a decent set. Today the gold has run out and they're mining tin. Those who can do it. If I could tell you how to make a $1,000 a scene. I would be back shooting. Because I cold make 4 times that.

Do you finally understand the answer?

I'm not being hard on you, just honest. I could earn $4,000 a day spending it with a hot attractive naked female. Don't you think that's a great job that many would of done if it was as easy as you think?

Homegrown Video, been paying amateurs since 1982 for homemade porn

Homegrown Video is always in the market for videos (Thanks, Mike S, for bringing us up). We mostly do exclusive, but we also offer some ways to do non-exclusive and will do cross promo if you have a site to promote. The advantage in that situation is you get not only paid for the video, but we actually promote your site as well to our members.

Check out Homegrown Submittals if you need more info or you are always welcome to email me as well.

I have over a dozen clip stores, in all different niches.

Over time I've had a few clips that have each generated over $1K.

I'm an idiot for not shooting more like them, even though they aren't necessarily my cup of tea.

I have zero interest in feet for example, but foot-fetish-related clips probably outsell all other types, to the c4s demographic.

And some people don't understand the answers. Meaning you.

The real problem today is creating something that's worth $1,000 clear every time. And until the person does that, he's not going to make $1,000 a scene every time. Finding places to try to sell it is easy. finding $1,000 in profit for the good guys is possible, fr anyone who needs advice. Not going to help and will probably lose them money.

This thread more than anything I say illustrates the level of businessmen in online porn today. It's nonsensical question and once you look at it closely you see why.

1. Put a single scene on C4S and make a clear $1,000 profit. If this were the case most content shooter would be doing this and not selling scenes for less profit to sponsors, easier, more control and more money for most. Clearing $1,000 from a solo girl scene isn't going to happen for the vast majority.
2. See above.
3. It used to happen. Logic tells you to saturate a non exclusive scene the seller has to sell it a lot. So long as he doesn't allow sponsors to give it to affiliates as many did in the past. Today no way or content shops would be closing or running on what they have. If it were still possible, custom shooters would do this instead of selling non exclusive for $300 solo girl or $1500 BG. The cost of building a content store and the returns would result in a loss today.

mineistaken if you had asked this question in 1999 I would of had some great answers for you. Today no one has. There are none.

The point not mention here is that most porn scenes are nothing new, they are the same scene shot over and over again, just with the girl changed.

Look at the terrible scene shot by Paul Markham for $3000 to see how bad these scenes are.

The Internet is flooded with them.

So if your video is like that it will be difficult to sell.

If you make some original and hot product which is new, put it together with 9 other great videos and you will have the beginnings of little paysite that will work
