Here's the deal with my blog project thread.

I was in my younger day's of blogging, had some blogs that did decent and thought It would be fun to start a project thread here on GFY at 5am in the morning drunk off my ass

. I started my ICQ the day after and It lit up with people asking if the project would start today. What fucking project I thought. Go to GFY and see my fine thread(which I didn't know I had posted lol) is already at 100+ replies and 2000 views. I think "oh shit, gotta deliver something". I make 10 blogs, get them set up etc and then after a while lose interest cause of many different reasons. I already made most my money from Galleries, other blogs + 100's of old freesites( old-school freesites submitted to linklists, not on their own domains) from years back.

After a while I started working out a way for me that works with blogs and now day's I do them totally different.

They get set up, on page SEO'd. 5 original posts to start, submit to directories and then ~10-15 links from other blogs I have. After that I try to have them updated at least once a month, preferably every 2 weeks. If the blog picks up speed(which some do cause of serps, domain, backlinks being right) I try and get a post per week or more into them.

The blog project thread blogs are not setup like that and I have no real interest in them since they are not even in my money making niches now days so they just sit there. They do make the $28 per month the hosting and ip's cost though so I let them sit

I just pulled that number out of the air as an average. For me I have blogs that get many times that and other blogs that get a lot less than that, but my goal is to get around that number as an average.

For example. If I am going to do a blog where I focus on a keyword that has a pretty good amount of search volume I will likely only aim at ranking well for that term and likely will inadvertently rank decently for some small similar terms as well. If I am going to do a blog where the keyword I am focusing on has a very low search volume I might try to rank well for 3 or 4 terms with that one blog so I can increase volume.

I have blogs that get around 100 UV per day, but I am #1 for the term I want. It is just a small, very specific term and it converts decently for me so I am happy with it and I tailor make that blog to fit that term.

So don't take 500 as a hard and fast number. In the end it is all about money. To be honest my blog that gets around 100 uv per day makes more money than a different blog I have that gets around 2,000 uv per day. The bigger blog is just a broader keyword and a little harder to convert.

I think the strongest idea this thread states which many will overlook is that you should try many different things at once, a lot of your time might be wasted in the process but you will eventually be able to pick out what works for you and you should push that method to the max.

LOL Well, I'm the type of guy who gives things a SHOT then if it doesn't work i move on. But here's what I'm currently doing right now:

Hired 3 SEO researchers to research keywords, competition, etc for my 10 biggest paysites.

That research is coming in now/this weekend.

Will buy domains around said keywords when research is done.

Next week I'll hire Blog designers to get me 10 designs, to start with a blog a site.

Start writing!

Work on backlinks, too, and link exchanges. Sign up for some programs to promote along with my own paysites.

Rinse and repeat - IF the traffic and sales start coming in. But I'll give it a shot, that's for sure.

so the top of it all before you start, you must have trafffffffficccccccccccccccccccccc!

not exactly...but i think if your starting now or recently (though i was a member of gfy since 2008 i really only try webmastering since end 09-10 lol, and blogging since '10) you have to be realistic about the numbers you can approach, $20k a month is great but if i make 2.5k-5k a month from porn im fine, thats enough to live on then when you max potential in adult move to something else like mainstream online or offline like real estate. 1000 x the very basic 10 uv a day = 10,000 uv

Im sorry your wrong with those kind of numbers at the very least you can expect some clicks from an ad platform like juicyads, so will still make much more than $30 in one month if you count on an occasional paysite sale here and there...and if your only getting 10 uv a day even with 1000 blogs your hosting cost are small...unless my math is wrong lol

hit up good mainstream forums and blogs on how to do good keyword research, how find to find good long tails, how research competition, the right search volume, how to set up your blog keyword and content wise etc. they are light years ahead when it comes to building blog networks than anything you will find in adult.

I have a network of 90 blogs and I'm making just under $3k month. If my math is correct, multiply # of blogs and income by 6 and I should be making just under $18k a month.

I do this part time (15 hours a week). I don't really do any keyword research, but I target a specific niche for each blog. Blogs are updated once a month and the biggest ones up to 3 times a month. I try to get as many relevant backlinks as possible. Average traffic is 100 hits a day per blog. Some get 2k and some get 15.

When I first saw MP's blog project and stats, this really motivated me and my revenue has doubled since last year. I believe I'm on the right track.

Ummm, isn't traffic the very reason you create the blogs? You build the blogs to gain the traffic, you are telling me I do It wrong?

I would like to offer a slightly different perspective on blogs. Most here are talking about blog networks of 100's of different blogs.. I've done it a little bit different. I only have 3 blogs in three different niches and each blog is updated about 5 times / day.

I spend a lot of time picking quality content you don't find on your average adult blog which means repeat visitors and a loyal following. My 3 blogs generate over 5k / month with a mix of affiliate sales and sold ad spots etc.

There are other ways to approach this than building 600 sites

Yes... TheSenator also uses this logic. Four very high quality updates a day to a small handful of blogs. He also does equally well with them.

I think most of the people that look at the build one blog a day (or more) theory are more into passive income and basically the blog a day creation schedule is something they need to stay focused. They don't like seeing the same thing every day. I have both worlds. Some blogs I update daily and networks I expand daily... I am bipolar...

This is pretty vague though. Just because you do some SEO work on your blogs doesn't mean they will make much more money. What you are talking about is a combination of successful SEO, marketing and content.

Yep, both ways work good. The few blogs quality way requires both more daily dedication and more importantly someone that can actually write good. I'm not good enough to be able to build up a fan base and grow traffic based on my writing so I go the volume way.

I'd love to have a few real good blogs that gets ~5 quality updates daily but I'd have to buy the text and real quality is not come by at $0.02 per word unfortunately.

Just a follow up on this. I've been in workhorse mode these days with this project and still continuining to build things out and make it happen. I've begun focusing on domain names with good keywords versus those just sounding like a good name. I'm still not outsourced enough which is where I need to step things up a bit. For those of you that think this is a quick way to make money I would say think again and you must be in it for the long haul to really make things work. I'm still hoping one day to reach mediumpimpIn status with this project...let's just say I've got a whole hell of a lot more progress to make before I even get close to that level! Very inspiring though!

I build a bunch of blogs because of passive income and I like creating something new every day. Plus, if one blog fails and doesn't get the converting traffic you need, you still have tons of other blogs. Right now I'm working on a blog that I will be updating daily and I am going to try that method and see how it works.

Most here are talking about blog networks of 100's of different blogs.. I've done it a little bit different. I only have 3 blogs in three different niches and each blog is updated about 5 times / day. I spend a lot of time picking quality content you don't find on your average adult blog which means repeat visitors and a loyal following. My 3 blogs generate over 5k / month with a mix of affiliate sales and sold ad spots etc. There are other ways to approach this than building 600 sites __________________

I've been in workhorse mode these days with this project and still continuining to build things out and make it happen. I've begun focusing on domain names with good keywords versus those just sounding like a good name. I'm still not outsourced enough which is where I need to step things up a bit. For those of you that think this is a quick way to make money I would say think again and you must be in it for the long haul to really make things work. I'm still hoping one day to reach mediumpimpIn status with this project...let's just say I've got a whole hell of a lot more progress to make before I even get close to that level!
