Any Golfers? Recos on clubs.
I'm looking for some new clubs but I can't decide what I want. I currently have a set of Taylor Made Supersteel, Rifle shaft irons. I'm not unhappy with them but I've had them for 6 years and it's time to step up. My woods are a Driver, 3, and 5 wood King Cobra Steelhead Steel shaft. I've had those things forever and those are definitely in need of an upgrade. I'm a casual player, 1 or two times per month tops.
Any suggestions on clubs you've used that you like? I've never been a fan of graphite but I'd consider it. Any comments on the Nike Drivers? Irons reccommendations? |

irons i would check out the new titleists or calloways they always have the best equipment in my opinion. as for a driver i would think the ERC or the new ping G2 might be a good choice. can't help ya on the fairway woods though i never use them.

Thanks. All good suggestions. I was going in different direction with equipment. Looks like I'll spend the weekend hitting some new clubs. I've got to find a course with a good pro-shop here that will let me take a demo set out for a round.

I swing at 106-108mph so they told me to go with Stiff Shafts.
My g/f on the other hand has a ton of flex she swings at 50mph. Can't go wrong with a 460cc club face.. now depending on how your swing is I would go with a 10.5 Degree 8.5-9 = harder to get up in the air. |

Heh, golfsmith really depends on what sales rep you deal with.. some of them are just plan assholes. The one we went to got all snooby about how no one plays with offset irons. And I was hitting 250 yards and he said I don't even have a swing. but yeah I agree golfsmith does have some hi-tech stuff and you can try out anything. Remember 90% of the time it's not the equipment its the person |

No golfsmith store around here. I did order from their catalog before.
I can't stand most golf sales reps either. The last time I bought my clubs I got them from a small local golf shop. I knew what I wanted when I went in there but he wanted to make sure that a less expensive set of clubs would be better suited. After half a day of knocking clubs around I got what was best for me. He could have made twice as much money on me but he helped me get the right clubs for me. Sales reps with a bad attidude are the one thing I won't stand for anymore. If i'm going to spend a few thousand or a few hundred thousand with you I expect that you'll give me your full undivided attention and make sure that I get what I want. If you can't do that just let me know and I'll spend my money elsewhere. |
