It never was a military weapon and a military weapon does not an "Assault Rifle" make. The '03 was a bolt action, the M1-Garand a Semi Automatic. the M1-Carbine a Semi Automatic, none of which were "Assault Rifles" but were military rifles. An "Assault Rifle" has to be full automatic period. Every semi automatic rifle no matter the design of it is not an "Assault Rifle" period.
